Patti O'Shea's passions are writing, airplanes and traveling. Fortunately, she's been able to enjoy all three. After receiving a degree in advertising copywriting, she took a job with a major U.S. airline and now works in 757 Engineering. Besides teaching her about the planes she loves, it's given her an opportunity to travel to places like Australia, Papua New Guinea and Canada's Yukon Territory.

Writing, though, remains her primary love. Patti created her first romance when she was in junior high school and has been hooked ever since. She should have figured out she was a writer years earlier, however, since her dolls had such involved lives, complete with goals, motivation and conflict.

    Langley Canfield is the daughter of an ambassador and has had a very cosmopolitan upbringing, while Ryder Pienkowski is a blue collar kind of guy, a Special Forces sergeant who met Langley when his team rescued her from a kidnapping. Somehow they just clicked and have been dating until Langley decides their relationship is going nowhere and ends things. Of course Ryder has been holding back because he thinks he isn’t good enough for her, basically one big misunderstanding for them both. When there is a threat against Langley, her father convinces Ryder and three of his Special Forces friends to go protect her, unofficially. Things become more dangerous than expected, but Ryder is determined to protect the woman he loves at any cost, and through the experience realizes she has more grit and backbone than he ever realized, despite coming from a wealthy and privileged family, and that he’s been the problem all along. I really enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more in this series.

    This was a really fast-paced romp and we’ll worth reading. Romance, kidnapping, firefights and broken hearts are all here. Langley is an ambassador’s daughter, polite and patient in all situations. Her ex-military special forces boyfriend is too hard headed and secretive. While she loves the big doof, she can’t stay in a suffocating, mistrustful relationship. The refusal of This last invitation to attend her friend’s wedding is it. She’s done. Then she and the bride-to-be get kidnapped. Is it too late to repair this love affair?

    It's hard to like a book when you think the H is a jerk and Ryder was a jerk. He is right, Langley can do much better, even at the very end. Lots of action but just ok story.
    FYI, book ends at 92%
    This is the first book I've read by this author. I'm not interested in her other books categories so it might be my last.
