Text Wars: May the text be with you...

I'm Serafina Lopez, and I'm an astrologer. No, not the airy-fairy type who wears long flowy skirts and enormous hoop earrings—you know, unless I want to. I'm an uber-serious businesswoman.

My popular lifestyle app, "Live for you Star Sign," is getting so big, I've just been asked to be a guest on New York's most-watched morning show. To say I'm thrilled would be the biggest understatement of all time. This TV segment is going to launch my career into the stratosphere.

Imagine my surprise when I show up on set to find out that I'm not the only guest. They've also invited astrophysicist Ben Williams from NASA to come on at the same time. (I'm not sure if you know this, but astrologers and rocket scientists aren't exactly sympatico.)

It's 100% hate at first sight (with maybe a tiny dose of lust thrown in—I'm not blind). Too bad he's a total jerk who slings insults at my career like a professional pie thrower. But I'm not one to sit back and take it.

Our explosive chemistry sets records for the network's viewing audience, which means we're asked to host a weekly segment...together.

Unable to turn down the career opportunity of a lifetime, I agree to work with Dr. Grumpy McGorgeous Nerd Pants. Unable to act maturely, we end up communicating by text instead of talking when we're off air (and sometimes on).

Just when I think it can't get any worse, the network sends us to Florida for a conference at the NASA Mothership. When we arrive, we find out we'll be stuck sharing the same hotel room for two long, hot Florida nights.

And that's when it happens. Somewhere in the haze of hating him, I wind up wanting him. But there's no way I can fall for someone who doesn't respect my beliefs.

Can I?

“What did you do with my model?” I hiss at Ben Williams as soon as he’s seated next to me. He rolls his eyes.

“Obviously I murdered him and stuffed his body in the closet so I could make my lifelong dream of coming on national television as a complete moron come true.”

Before I can slay him with a witty comeback, Lacey waves her hands frantically to shut me up. Then she turns to the camera and gushes, “Welcome back to Wake Up America! In case you’re just joining us, we have astrophysicist Dr. Ben Williams on today, here to talk about NASA’s Earth Two project. But before we get to Dr. Williams, Serafina Lopez, creator of the smashing Live for Your Star Sign app, is going to give us a fashion-forward look for your star sign.”

Hal continues, “We had a surprise model in the form of Dr. Williams here. Tell us, Ben, are you really a Gemini?”

“I have no idea.”

“According to our research, you are,” Lacey hurries to say. “You’d think you’d know that, being a rocket scientist and all.”

Dr. Grumpy Pants pauses, then slowly explains, “Science is the systematic, logical, and relentless pursuit of knowledge to help us better understand the universe and all things in it. Astrology is the pursuit of unsuspecting people’s money through trickery, predictions so vague they could apply to anyone in any given location, and blatant insensitivity to empirical evidence.”

He glances at me, then turns back to Lacey. “For you to presume I should possess the knowledge of which utterly irrelevant category I land in based on my date of birth is about as useful as knowing which house I’d fit into at Hogwarts. It’s meaningless. It’s nothing more than a party game.”

I glare at him sending the following psychic communication: Watch out Dr. Williams, it's on...

Editorial Reviews

Review

"The first couple of chapters lured me in completely and I knew I wouldn't be putting this book down soon. The authors skillfully move the story from one humorous conflict to the next, endearing Serafina and Ben to the reader. The characters are well-developed, with strong opposing personalities; Serafina would blame it on their stars. When they finally find something they both agree on, sparks fly for a different reason. A text throws their equilibrium for a loop that even the stars could not predict. Overall, I love this series. You know the authors were having fun writing these books as they come alive with vivid characters and events." --Readers Favorite, 5 stars

"These books are like Sex in the City for the texting generation, They are the BEST escape and I can't wait to get my hands on each as they come out. Sera and Ben are delightfully funny and seemingly mismatched, but that just makes their journey all the more fun. Read this series now, you won't be disappointed!"
--USA Today bestselling author, Becky Monson

"The Sun and the Moon are nothing compared to the love I feel for you." The writing duo Whitney Dineen and Melaine Summers show what they can do to make you laugh out loud with their incredible over-the-top stories, one more outrageous than the last."
--AJ Book Remarks

"This series is perfect for Netflix! I laughed so much while reading this book I was left a little heartbroken that Sera and Ben aren't real. But you know what, they're real to me and I want to text them to meet up so I can witness their adorableness in person."
--USA Today bestselling author, Diana Orgain

"When a comically mismatched couple is thrown together on morning television, sparks fly! I loved Sera and Ben's story SO much! I want more ...."
--USA Today Bestselling author, Delancey Stewart

"Humor, conflict, adorable characters-- what more could you want in the perfect romcom? Text Wars has it all and I wish it didn't end!"
--Amazon bestselling author, Annabelle Costa

"Whitney and Melanie are quickly becoming my go-to authors for a good laugh? Where do they come up with these ideas? I want MORE!"

Where are my fellow nerds?!📚ⒷⓄⓄⓀ ⓇⒺⓋⒾⒺⓌ⬇️Text Wars: May the Text be With You(An accidentally in love story book 3)by Whitney Dineen & Melanie SummersReleased 5/4/2021I received this #freebook #eARC through @netgalley for an honest review.⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5 starsIt only makes sense that this wonderfully nerdy/geeky book be released on May 4th! #MayTheFourthBeWithYouOk... yes... I fully admit to being a nerd! I won my 8th grade science fair with a perfect score (still my most prized and biggest trophy 😂), I was in science club, in robot squad club which met right after lunch instead of getting free period, was in the band, and wanted to be an astronaut when i grew up🌙⭐🌍🚀.. I even took physics just for fun because it wasnt a required course 🤣I also happen to be a hopeless romantic at heart... so when I was given the chance to review this book, I was over the moon! (See what I did there?!) 😉This book is the perfect mashup of enemies to lovers and opposites attract in a wonderfully geeky romcom! If you enjoy witty banter and sexy smarties... this book is for you! There are star wars references, a rhyming drunk, my new best friend who grieves by double fisting donuts topped with whipped cream and of course... romance. This book is hilarious and relatable and I cannot wait for the 4th book to be released in the near future! Keep an eye out for "Text in Show"!Recommendation rating: 👍👍(2/2... because... I only have 2 thumbs 😂🤣)

I'm enjoying the text series. Ben is really sweet and socially awkward if he doesn't know you, which many bright people are. Sara is a wild spitfire. So, of course, opposites attract. Qell told and lots of laughs.

I've read all the books in this series so far. They are nice and sweet perfect beachy fluff. The humor is cute but not laugh out loud. The love scenes are warm but not steamy. The editing and pacing are nice. The characters are fun but the "big drama" that creates the breakup just makes you want to smack them both for how easily it could have been avoided or reconciled. I have a lot of books/series on my TBR list and this one was NOT a waste of my time. It's perfect for when you're in the mood for a lighthearted romance that doesn't require a lot of thinking. I will definitely be watching for the next one, too.

Oh my goodness, if reading about Sera and Ben doesn't have you laughing out loud numerous times, I would be surprised. She is an intelligent, highly successful astrology guru who has created numerous apps. He is a NASA astrophysicist. Opposites attract? Hardly. It's full on war, until it's not, and then it is again. The dialog, relationships, and numerous hilarious events make this book a winner.

The only reason I gave this one 3 stars instead of 1 is because of how much I loved Ben in this book. I just could not find one redeeming quality in Serafina. She was not likable in any way. Sorry not sorry. Liked prev books in series better. Will try the next hoping this was a just a blip in the road. I like Whitney as an author and have laughed out loud with other books… just definitely not this one! Serafina was way too unrepentantly spiteful for my taste. I think her spiteful acts were supposed to be the humor in this one and I just don’t find acting horridly towards others when your in the wrong humorous. Ben was such a lovable charachter. The awkward nerd who becomes more self aware and improves himself and blossoms out of his comfort zone. He made the book.

Super cute and fun romance. The dreamer and the nerd clash, until they don't. Really liked these characters and the storyline. The conflict resolution was well done. I smiled most of this book. Summary cover basics.
This is a standalone with no cliffhanger and no cheating. Closed door steam, only kissing. No language. Told from H and h POV.

Not only do opposites attract but the enemies to lovers scenario plays double time. There are some rather outlandish scenes in the book but it is all in good fun. Lactose intolerance also plays a role in this crazy story. Astrophysicist Ben is an opinionated nerd who looks down on those who practice astrology. Yale graduate Serafina has a successful career that relates all aspects of people's lives to their star sign. Needless to say they don't see eye to eye. I loved the banter between the two of them, Seraphina's grandparents, Charley and even Spock. It was a fun read and a few of the characters from other Texting books made cameo appearances. The only downside is that Ben and Serafina were a little immature at times - especially Serafina. I expected a little more of her but still thoroughly enjoyed the book.

There are quite a few laugh out loud moments in TEXT WARS: MAY THE TEXT BE WITH YOU featuring NASA astrophysicist Ben and astrologist Serafina. Total respect for the Rocky and Bullwinkle inspired line, by the way.

While the foundation of the relationship wasn’t based on texting, it’s survival was. Serafina is refreshing, sassy, independent and most importantly, knows her worth. Ben is intelligent, introverted, and refreshingly mild mannered except when it comes to astrology.

If you like honest, funny and well written romantic comedy, you will love this book.
