About the author

HI! Just to tell you a bit about myself. I have lived in Seattle, WA most of my life however I was raised in New York and spent summers in Cape May, NJ. Most of my work is set on the beaches and beach towns of the Jersey Shore. I wrote my first novel when I was thirteen years old and continued to write poetry and short stories for the following years. I have had articles and papers published as well as photographs that were published in a book entitled "Rock and Roll Memorabilia II".
I hold an AA degree in Business Management. I never obtained a degree in Literary Arts or Writing per se but I feel I come by my writing talent organically as William Shakespeare is my 1st cousin 12 times removed.
"An Unexpected Gift" is my debut novel. Like Janie, the main character in the novel, I was diagnosed with High Functioning Autism at the age of forty-eight however I am proud to share this diagnosis with Ralph Waldo Emerson and Emily Dickenson as well as many others. I see my autism as a gift from God. It has given me a high intellect and innate talent that I use as a tool to enlighten the rest of the world to the plight of adults with autism.
Like many people on the spectrum, I never married or had children which is sadly my greatest regret. I currently live with my wonderful sister Kendra and my three cats Tyler, Tabitha and Teddy in Spokane, WA. I am planning to move back to the New Jersey Shore as soon as possible.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseCape May is my favorite town! My ancestors were early settlers there and as a child I spent wonderful summers there with relatives. Whenever I see a book set there I must read it. This is the author's first novel and I enjoyed being with her characters in familiar places. Her heroine is challenged by autism and shows her strength to follow her dreams. I believe that in writing the story the author benefited by therapy while creating a good story.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2019Format: KindleThe author of this book clearly has a deep understanding on Aspbergers Syndrome.........it was very interesting to be inside the character's head to see exactly how she looked at situations, conversations, and processed everything. It was not only a good story, but I found the characters interesting -- enough character development. And even enough character development to strongly dislike one!!! Well done, Ms Grayce!

- Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2019Format: KindleJanie is a 50 year old unmarried virgin who has lost every job she has ever had. The reason for all of this?===Janie just found out this past year that she has a high functioning form of Asberger's disease. This type of person usually has a genius level IQ but, also has significant problems with social interactions. Janie finally understands why she has lost every job because she "can't get along with people!"
Janie's mother died when she was 10. She grew up with a verbally abusive and insulting father and brothers.
Janie returns back home because her father is sick and, she has been told she has to now run the local theater that her father has owned for decades. Problem is that Alex, her childhood crush who never knew she existed is now a brilliant, award winning Broadway director who will also be with her assisting in running the theater and, directing the new summer production. Alex has always had a special place in his heart for Janie and, will do anything to help her succeed at the theater and, protect her from her father and brothers.
This story is one that needs to be read!!! Anyone who has a child, relative, friend or, co-worker with Autism or Asberger's SHOULD READ THIS BOOK!!!! These characters will grab your heart and not let go!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2020Format: KindleThis well written story melds together the quest to find lasting love with the challenges of being autistic. Not only do you get a great read, you will also learn a few things along the way. Things that will expand your ability to show compassion and understanding for those that live a life with autism. There is no doubt you will enjoy "Janie" and her quest to find lasting love.
Set aside a good chunk if time...this is a book you won't want to set down.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2020Format: KindleI'm an avid reader and a harsh critic but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is very well written and gives great insight into the feelings of someone with autism as well as being an inspiration for forgiveness.
I'm looking forward to her next book already.
