Although her characters and settings are fictional, they are based on the people and places she's experienced in her own time in the mountains. After writing eleven books in her Peakview series, eleven books in her Aspen Ridge Series, and four books in her Peaktop Dude Ranch Series, all centered in Peakview County, Colorado, Jill has started a new Montana Pines Series.     I really like all of Jill Haymakers books but I loved Safe to love ( Aspen Ridge series book 2)
    I didn’t read the first book in this series but I had just finished the Peakview series which I highly recommend! I know Jill Haymaker is a very talented author but I wasn’t sure any series would be as good as the Peakview group of books. I was wrong this book was so wonderful! It had such an interesting storyline and it was a beautiful slow burn romance. She was an attorney from the city he was a rancher in a little town how would they ever make it work.
    Read this book and find out what happens you won’t be sorry. It’s that good.

    SAFE TO LOVE is a standalone read with a happy ending. Angela, 44 a lawyer working in the big city decides she has had enough. She decides to move to Aspen Ridge where her college roommate is now living with her small family. It is quite a change as she prepares her office for opening. She hears her front door open and a cowboy is standing there asking if she is open. She assures him she is and invites him in. He runs a cattle ranch just outside of town and he needs a lawyer to check over a contract for him.

    Colt Outlaw was raised in Aspen Ridge. His father recently passed away and he and his mother now run the ranch. Colt is 38 and is feeling a little unsettled with his life. He doesn't date much and none of the ladies in town have really sparked any interest. He is a born and raised rancher. He likes the outdoors and living in the country. Most women want to live in the big city or at least have shopping malls around. It looks like he will be alone for the rest of his life. Until he meets the new lawyer in town he thought he was to always be alone.

    He and Angela start getting to know each other. She is holding on to a big secret that has caused her a lot of sleepless nights. It ruined her short marriage and is a fear she has held on to for many years. She likes Colt but she is 6 years older than him and there is always the problem of his wanting children. It just doesn't seem like there is much of a chance for them.

    This is an interesting story with the older woman younger man genre. It is very entertaining and a good cowboy story. I would definitely recommend it.

    ***Possible Spoilers***. This was an okay read for me. I liked the growth of the relationship throughout the book. My main problem was finding out the big secret that has affected Angela so dramatically. The event wasn’t what you thought it would be by a far shot. It made me sad that she never got help and yet it controlled her life for twenty t three years. Other than that it was a nice, clean romance.
