About the author

MICHAEL WISEHART graduated with honors in Business Accounting, but instead of pursuing this field, he returned to school to study film. He spent the next several years honing his visual craft, which he put to good use as he took what he’d learned behind the camera and applied it to the written word.
On April 14, 2014, Michael opened his laptop and began typing what would become two multiple award-winning series: The Aldoran Chronicles, and Street Rats of Aramoor (both set within the same world, but twenty years apart). By the time his second book released, he had quit his day job, walking away from production altogether, to pursue his writing career.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAlthough I started The Aldoran Chronicles before reading this book, I thoroughly enjoyed the origin story of Aryrion, and found it wildly entertaining. I plan to read the rest of the series Street Rats of Aramoor too.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseOn starting the third book in the Aldoran series, a note from the author suggested reading this book before continuing the series. At first, I was angry to have to interrupt the series for what seemed like a marketing ploy for Street Rats. After reading it, I feel like I have gotten a good back story that I am going to assume fits into the third book in a way that a summary of the story would not suffice.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAs I started this book, I had every intention of just skimming it. HA! That didn’t happen. Some wild twists and turns that left me reeling and yet I kept turning the page!

- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThere is some fantasy as well as all the action. This book is very well done. The story is told in the first person. Ayrion acts more like an adult than a 13 year old youth. Friendships abound through out this book. I highly recommend it.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2024Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseOverall the story is generally pretty good. Ayrion is a likeable MC, and develops some fun relationships in this book. You also get a good like into the Upaka society and culture.
Also some credit to the author or editor for knowing when to use "a" or "an" in a sentence.
However, this probably should have been marketed as a stand alone prequel to the Streets of Aramoor series. Not included as the first book. Ayrion never enters Aramoor in this book, nor do you meet any of the street rats.
I also agree with another reviewer who stated that the other characters seemed to be extensions of Ayrion, rather than independent people. I will give an example of this but it will include a *SPOILER* Ayrion's family were all being shunned because of his being different (his magic). His family was hardly getting enough work to get by and were social outcasts. His dad couldn't get contracts, his mom was socially ostracized by the other women and his 16 year old sister couldn't find any boys interested in her though she was pretty. They were utterly shunned by the community. But when Ayrion was banished they chose to let a 13 year old child go out into the world on his own, rather than go with him? They chose to stay behind, knowing they were already hated, and would be even more so now that Ayrion killed the leaders son. It would have been worse for his family to stay behind than to join him in banishment. No decent parent would allow their 13 year old to go off into banishment alone and stay behind for their own comfort. This wasn't a plot hole, this was a plot canyon. Especially because Ayrion came from a loving family. To sell the "banished and alone" thing, you need a horrible and cruel family. Loving parents don't ship their kids off to what is likely their deaths, with a hug and kiss. That part of the story really didn't sit well for me.
Just finished book 2, gonna start book 3. Hoping things look up.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseGreat story and I couldn’t set it down for long. Looking forward to the next book. This is a very well written book.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved the characters, the setting, and the adventures! The writing draws you in and makes you want to stay up all night reading! Anyone who enjoyed Tolkien's LotR series or David Eddings' Belgariad would love this series, too!
Only one or two moments seemed jarring, such as the dinosaur-like 8-foot tall crocodile-esque monsters the characters had to fend off and run from partway through the first half of the book. The height of the grass around them would seem to dictate the size of a creature that vould hide totally in it. The author could have made these swamp-dwelling beasts more horse-sized, and they'd still have been terrifying! But the overly enormous at-the-shoulder height of the monters broke my suspension of disbelief.
Thankfully, the rest of the story sucked me back in! I gave it 5 stars because the writing deserved it. Well done, and thank you, Mr. Wisehart, for publishing this story!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love these books
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI have just finished the fourth book in this series and cannot wait for the fifth to be written. I believe these books were written with a younger generation in mind, but that’s how the Harry Potter books began. Definitely the most addictive books I have read for a long time, interesting characters, excellent story lines, absolutely recommended reading.
