About the Author

Kate Frost has wanted to be an author ever since she wrote her first novel during the long months she spent off school following open heart surgery when she was seven. The novel was called London's Burning and was a time travel story set during the Great Fire of London. Over the years Kate has worked in a cinema, a bookshop, a factory and at NHS Direct. She's also worked as ground staff at Edgebaston Tennis Tournament and as a Supporting Artist in the films Vanity Fair, King Arthur and The Duchess. Kate has a MA in Creative Writing from Bath Spa University and has also taught lifewriting to Creative Writing undergraduates there. Kate lives in the UK with her husband, young son and their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and spends her days chasing after an energetic pre-schooler and not keeping on top of the housework.

Kate Frost is the author of romantic escape novels including bestsellers The Greek Heart, The Baobab Beach Retreat and The Amsterdam Affair, plus One Greek Summer, An Italian Dream, An Island in the Sun, One Winter's Night and A Greek Island Escape published by award-winning Boldwood. They're uplifting, heartwarming stories of love, romance, hope, new beginnings and second chances featuring different characters in beautiful locations. She's also the author of character-driven women's fiction (The Butterfly Storm series) and Time Shifters, a middle grade time travel adventure trilogy. One Winter's Night has been shortlisted for the Romantic Novelists' Association's Romantic Novel of the Year Award 2024.

Kate is the Director of Storytale Festival, a book festival for children and teens she co-founded in Bristol in 2019. She has a MA in Creative Writing from Bath Spa University where she also taught lifewriting to Creative Writing undergraduates.

Kate has wanted to be an author ever since she wrote her first novel during the long months she spent off school following open heart surgery when she was seven. Having previously worked in a cinema, a bookshop, at NHS Direct and as a Supporting Artist in film and TV, she feels incredibly lucky to now spend her days writing and being immersed in books. Kate lives in the UK with her husband and son.

    I really enjoyed reading this novel as it had a great mix of beachy-ness, emotional recovery, discovery of a new romance and heartbreak. These don’t necessarily happen in that order, or just once. But it felt like a really good balance.

    There were parts of this story I was a little surprised with and didn’t really think it fit what I knew of the characters personality or how you’d react to what she’s been through. But I guess that’s something I can’t control, and those choices I didn’t like were a very minor blip in the story, so I quickly got over it.

    Having worked in hotels when I was younger and having friends who have lived and worked in resorts, I wasn’t surprised by some of the stuff Kate described as going on. In fact, I was surprised it wasn’t worse based off what my friends told me!

    I think the main thing that confused me about this story was that Baobab Beach Resort doesn’t really play much into the story until right near the end. So much so that it took me a few minutes of reading when it was first encountered because I realised that was the books namesake.

    And the worst part of the book? Reading about a beautiful beach, snorkelling and the chill lifestyle while winter sets in and I have to go to work every day. How is that fair?

    Wow! This was a well written, beautiful story of a second chance at true love. I wasn't sure if I would like this book or not, but I was so glad I gave it a chance. It was page-turning and the characters stole my heart. 

    These characters, Connie, Jamil, Bella, Theo, Geoff, all of them.....they quickly stole my heart. I loved watching Connie deal with all her emotional issues and seeing how she reacted to her demons coming to light. Watching her fall in love with the one she was meant to be with was a wonderful part of the story! 

    If you are looking for a perfect beach read this summer, then grab a copy of this book. It will take you to another country, fill your heart with the characters emotions and twist you up on a roller coaster of ups and downs. From start to finish, Frost's talent shines and makes the reader feel a true part of this 4 star read! Well done!

    Really well written but don't read this expecting a light read to distract you from a bad mood, especially if you are struggling with grief. Story and characters are great but not what I expected (an escape from the stuff in my head) amd with extensive depth of character in some pretty heavy content. Expected something lighter and more escapist. So the issue is expectations, not a fault of the author.

    Connie has come face to face with many of the demons life threw at her and beat them down. While learning to be comfortable with herself she runs once again into tall, dark and handsome Jamil. Some she knew him when she was 21 and he was 12 when she was the recipient of his first crush he has developed charm and become a true ladies man and still intent on fulfilling those 12 year old fantasies. But in the end more mature Them wins out and as a reader you are pulling for him. He has no lack of good and manly looks himself. All this with a background of family skeletons in the closet coming into the daylight.

    In the end we are all happy.
