Life or Death. The decision is made the moment Liberty steps foot outside of the gates of the compound and ducks the sentry’s lights. She has a few hours before dawn to make it to the safety of the Nevada border before the discovery of her absence. At that time, the vicious and merciless ‘God Squad’ will be sent to hunt her down and bring her back for a punishment worse than death.

One of the FLDS cult’s countless children forced into an abusive plural marriage to a man old enough to be her grandfather; Liberty knows that if she doesn’t produce children, then she is certain to meet an unfortunate incident. Having experienced the heinous treatment by those on the compound, she is more than willing to take the risk with the Outsiders and seek a new life free of pain and suffering. Rescue comes in the form of Jerrod Stockton and his younger brother, Justice who operate a Safe House program for runaways. They, along with Jerrod’s wife, Robin give her a life and a family she never had—one filled with love and acceptance rather than malice and derision.

Life with the Stockton family fills her with both joy and confusion. Liberty sees the truth of real, unconditional love, faith and the value of discipline yet still struggles with the indoctrinated beliefs that leave her feeling that she has no value or worth if she fails to blindly obey the edicts proclaimed from the incarcerated prophet's jail cell. She also discovers that her heart is open to the love of a man who has not been ‘assigned’ to be her husband. Can Justice bring freedom for Liberty by helping her accept herself as a woman?

Who am I?

I’m a native Californian gone 'wild', and had the opportunity to travel the globe and discover the world through the eyes of both a Marine Intelligence specialist and a BDSM lifestyler. I left the service and received a BS in Biological Sciences/Marine Biology with a minor in Chemistry and Physics and then went on the gain my Masters in psychology. Following a government shut-down, I ventured into hospice nursing and grief counseling, and extended my practice to marriage and family therapy for those involved in alternative lifestyle development. This experience has allowed me to gain unique perspective for my books and offer realistic plots and relatable characters.

My first book, The Game Plan, was published in 2012 and opened the door to the now-booming world of Age-Play literature. Since that time, I’ve devoted my ‘spare’ time to writing, researching, community involvement, and private and group pro bono counseling in deviant behavior, alternative lifestyle, and addiction recovery.

I was formally ‘dungeon trained’ as a Domme before discovering my submissive side when I joined the service. My scenarios are pulled primarily from either personal experience or observation, including spending time in BDSM clubs as the safety/medical officer. My multi-faceted background allows me to glean from many avenues and give a unique and intelligent literary experience through elements of fantasy and fiction. I also discuss the questions and psychology of the lifestyle in a manner that is fun and informative, and based on 'the real deal.’

    I almost passed on this book because I was afraid the subject matter would be too upsetting, I'm glad I didn't.

    Though it tells of horrendous abuse in the FLDS community, the story is really about the power of the love and security Liberty finds with the family that rescues her. The story keeps you reading. I couldn't put it down once I started. It also has all the "fun stuff" we expect in BH books! There are some surprises in there too. A really good read!

    Breanna always makes her characters real. You relate to them even if your life experience is totally different from theirs. I will think of the women and children of these terrible cults often because this book made me aware that there is so much more to their experiences than what I saw on TV news.

    Now and then you read a book, knowing that the book is based on facts and events and your heart breaks for the people involved. We watched the news and learned bits and pieces of Warren Jeffs and the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints (FLDS) community which is also known as the United Order. But then you hear no more because a new story will take its place in a few days.

    The story of Justice For Liberty is like learning the Paul Harvey “rest of the story” version of events of this cult. It is so easy to say, “I just don’t understand how people could fall for that, or be that gullible” and yet, we forget the victims that were born into this life and never had a say or knew anything better. That is the case of Liberty, and this is her story.

    The plot is a hodgepodge of emotions as the life of Liberty in the compound of the FLDS unfolds in this harrowing tale based on factual events. How calloused and calculated the prophet and leaders had manipulated the people, especially the women and young girls to be victims of mental and emotional abuse, damaging their spirit. Even favored wives and children are guilty of abusing those that are not in favor in households. The members are indoctrinated from birth, even what education they do receive is full of false information.

    The story is also new beginnings, finding a family that offers love and acceptance, a chance to earn an education, to learn what love really is between a couple, because they chose each other out of love and not by decree and force by a prophet. “Is the desire to belong to someone wrong? I don’t want to be a possession, but I do what to be cherished.” “I never felt any love when I was punished. Only anger, hatred and shame.” This story will read as a stand alone, and there will be more books to follow.

    The Breaking Chains series is one that takes the reader inside the FLDS cult and reveals shocking details. It is a book that I could not put down or quit talking about. I hightlighted passages and would read and discuss them with my husband. I look forward to the next book in this series because I want to learn more.

    This was an eye opening book. I knew a bit about the FLDS, but not nearly enough. This book opened up some good conversations in my family about what really goes on and how important it is to educate ourselves and others.     I read this book in one sitting. It had me memorized from the start. The author handles a hard subject in a way that makes you appreciate the difficulty of a person deciding to leave the only life they have ever known. I have read news accounts on this subject, but this book made the people who have lived this nightmare personal and very human. It is hard to believe that there are monsters in this world who rid themselves of those they deem inferior by causing "unfortunate accidents". I would highly recommend this book!!

    Wow, this story begins with such sadness and loss, but shows the power of Love and Forgiveness. Liberty is sadly one of the many women born into the FLDS, and knew in her heart that things were not right. However when you are born into a situation, its that much harder to find the courage and strength to change. Liberty is an inspiration in herself! This book gives a lot of the 'little known' insight to the world of the FLDS that women/girls (and men/boys) must abide or suffer severe consequences.
    It is full of hope and inspiration, but almost more importantly education about the true FLDS and its 'god squad'.
