WHY C. G. COOPER MATTERS

Fiction has the power to change lives.

Pay a visit to Cooper Country and you’ll understand why. With his unique voice and flair for creating characters you’d love to hang out with, C. G. Cooper imparts every one of his novels with messages that perfectly illuminate what Faulkner called, “the human heart in conflict with itself.” In them, characters confront hard truths about life, the necessity of war, the military industrial complex, and why and how good men and women die.

But there are messages within the messages.

There is the power of the individual to triumph over evil against overwhelming odds; the struggle of good people against their inner demons; there is brotherhood, family, the discovery of allies in unexpected places, struggles with faith; there is community; there is authenticity; Cooper’s heart is on every page, beating hard and fast through action and moments of tenderness alike.

Expect high-octane action, slow-burn thrills, and gut-wrenching drama. Expect the ultimate conflict of the human heart.

This is Cooper Country. Lives will change.

THE LOWDOWN

Drawing on his days as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps—a stint that came on the heels of a degree in foreign affairs from UVA—Cooper sifted his experience through his vivid imagination and created Corps Justice, the first novel in the beloved Corps Justice series. Thus, a band of characters was born that would go on to enthrall readers throughout 17 novels and counting. With more than 2 million book downloads and multiple appearances in the Amazon Top 100, C. G. Cooper remains one of the most successful USA TODAY and Amazon best-selling authors.

In 2020, he won the prestigious James Webb Award presented by the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation for his novel Chain of Command.

In addition to bouncing around the country in search of the perfect vacation (turns out, it is anywhere with his family), Cooper has called Nashville home ever since his final Marine duty station. When not enjoying the laid-back lifestyle of Music City, he’s doing his best to add more novels to the growing list at cg-cooper.com.

Another great Daniel Briggs read. Spoiler alert.

This one starts in Seattle with Daniel working at a Pikes Place Market. This market sells all kinds of sea food. Its kinda boring work but Daniel doesn't mind. He and his boss get along well and the paycheck is more than welcome.

Daniel Briggs, call sign Snake Eyes, is a retired Spec Ops Marine. He saved many lives and his commanders put him in for the Congressional Medal of Honor. An honor Briggs declined.

Daniel has been traveling across the country and has loads of dark baggage. He also shares his head with what he calls The Beast. The Beast turned Daniel Briggs into one very capable guy. A guy who can defend himself against almost anything.

Daniel is finishing up for the day when he spots an older lady with a picture. A picture she's showing to anyone who will look. Daniel later saves this lady, Rose, from a gang of toughs who are harassing her. Rose tells him that she's looking for her son. An Army vet who did tours in the sandbox. He's been missing for a while but still sends her letters.

Daniel decides to try to help Rose and the trail leads to a man named Tanner Grey. Tanner is also ex military and did tours in the sandbox. Grey recognizes Daniel and calls him Snake Eyes. Daniel is always trying to stay under the radar so being called by his old call sign doesn't sit well with him. This fact is clearly seen by Tanner and he drops it. He tries to assist Daniel with his mission to find Rose's son.

Aaron Grey is Tanners brother. Aaron turns out to be someone who's far more than he appears to be. An Aaron who was a Marine who was also in the sandbox. A Marine who earned a dishonorable discharge. A Marine who will be a key player when the world crash's down on Daniel Briggs,

So begins a damned fine read by Cooper.

This one has Daniel, Aaron, Tanner, Rose, a warehouse, Vets kept sedated in that warehouse, a plan to steal benefits from those vets Daniel included, drugs, a man named Weston, another man named Rosenbaum, a plot by Rosenbaum, NCIS, an NCIS agent named Spade, two undercover ops run by two different agencies, the FBI, Fox, an agent who helps out Briggs, Senator Laskey, a man named Ulysses, an island with a house that Aaron owns, an Aaron who comes clean with Briggs, pharmaceutical companies, a Tanner trying to protect little brother Aaron, a Tanner who is far more than he appears to be, a Tanner who's savvy and very, very capable, death and Daniel Briggs using his many skills to take out the bad guys, figure out what the end game is and stay alive.

    Another Five Star read.

I'm a big fan of Cooper. His writing is not only exciting, but he tends to "torment" readers with very unexpected twists and turns. One winds up asking "Wow! Where did that come from?", as one shakes their head with amazement and admiration. One of his books can be a real roller coaster ride and "unputdownable" .

Daniel Briggs is a supporting character in Cooper's Corps Justice series and his background was always a big mystery. While in the first two books of the series one gets Daniel's background while he's struggling with post-war distress and alcoholism, this third book provides "the answers" as to how Daniel became the calm pillar of strength who is so successful in the Corp Justice series. However, while there are plenty of plot twists and turns in this book, there's not quite as much of the roller coaster ride this time around. I'm not quite sure why it feels that way. So, while the book was an enjoyable read and important in getting to know Daniel's "answers", I don't count this as one of Coopers top books. That said, I'll be more than glad to inhale/consume anything else Cooper writes! He's got a stellar track record of 5 star reads. You just about can't go wrong with a Cooper book.

Mr Cooper has done it once more. WOW! "Broken", should have been titled "Broken no More". Daniel Briggs finally had a new beginning in Seattle and things were going really great. Then someone needed help, a little old lady named, Rose. You are going to have to read the rest of the novel to find out what happens next. However, I will tell you this, put on your seatbelt and hang on. There are so many twists, turns and surprises that you will not be able to put the book down. Mr Cooper did a great job in presenting the main characters, The Grey Brothers, along with of course, Daniel. But, he sets you up for the unexpected. The novel was just so much fun to read, I just could not put it down, once Rose disappeared. In my mind, first I wish it had been longer and second I am glad that there is one more book In this series. I liked "Broken", the best of the series so far. Buy the book it is worth it; it may start slowly but then look out and hang on!!!

Marine sniper Daniel Briggs has left the Corps and is still trying to outrun his demons. He finds a bit of peace in Seattle, Washington until he is drawn into action by a group of thugs harassing an old lady. He will become caught up in her life after he discovers who she is looking for. Along the way, he will meet brothers Tanner and Aaron who were also Marines and have major parts in the story.

    C. G. Cooper entices the reader by making them feel like they have a front row seat to the action. I could not help but read this in one sitting because once you start it you cannot put it down. There were a few twists and turns and a plenty of "oh, WOW!" moments. Just when I thought I knew what was going on, I would be thrown for a loop. Mr. Cooper is one of my favorite authors in the genre. I have read the Corps Justice series and found Daniel to be an intriguing character, so I was pleased to find this series dedicated to him. Read it, and see if Snake Eyes can learn to tame The Beast...

AfterThought: Tested is next and I cannot wait to read it...

I read dozens of books each year, mostly thriller novels. This was my second book by this author. It may be my last. It took me a lot longer than usual to slog through the convoluted plot and chameleon characters. BTW, Beta readers, it's Jack Daniel's, not Jack Daniels.

Cooper has done it again. This storyline about Briggs is fast paced and action packed. Briggs is fighting his demons again and finds himself in the midst of power hungry pharmaceutical principals and rogue VA and N IS actors following a promised good for a grieving mother of a missing veteran. There are numerous twists and turns along with a surprise ending. I look forward to reading Book Four.

This book like the others in the series is awesome, It deals with a very real & growing problem, How to treat us Veterans who suffer from PTSD and associated disorders like night terrors, to describe how it feels to suffer from night terrors really involves the feeling of utter terror like your worst ever nightmare, add in the complete inability to move or communicate but able to hear the breathing of the person beside you in bed, finally you wake screaming but not knowing why, imagine if you will experiencing that 8,9,10 times a night every night for random durations, Combat PTSD sufferers also experience flash backs, these have a thousand & one triggers each individual to the affected veteran, a smell, sound, noise virtually anything can bring it on, then you are back in a war zone or a combat training session that went horribly wrong, it's a living breathing full body nightmare that only you can see,

This book addresses one of the most common therapies Drugs, mind calming tension relieving mind altering drug therapies which are all too often just a little part of the medications a disabled veteran takes, Some agencies prefer mindfulness therapy or other non drug based regimens but it is seen so often a lazy Dr who can't be bothered by the constant demands for help to get the combination of meds right to say here take these & the veteran turns into a zombie. Thankfully there are a legion of amazing Dr's & Nurses & therapists of all types ready to help, This book is a dramatic representation of what happens when oversight is not put before profit.

The story continues the journey of Daniel Briggs out of his black hole. The plot was confusing at times but was clear in the end.
I am not American and I find all the agencies mentioned are just a jumble of letters. It would be nice for the author to mention a little of what they all do in the dialogue. It was also repetitive at times but even so I enjoyed it and look forward to the next book.
