Fresh Starts at Folly Farm (Bramblewick Book 3) Kindle Edition
BOOK THREE OF THE POPULAR BRAMBLEWICK SERIES
Rachel Johnson has returned to her childhood home in Bramblewick, a small village on the North York Moors. Taking up a position as practice nurse at the village surgery, Rachel hopes she can rebuild her own life and provide a better life for her young son, Sam.
But Folly Farm isn't what it used to be. Since the death of Rachel's father, the spark seems to have disappeared from her mother. No longer a working farm, the place seems neglected and sad. Sam is clearly resentful of the changes in his life, and after a worrying incident at the school, Rachel fears that the move has come too late.
Trying to settle into a new job, aware of her mother's obvious loneliness, and fretting over the state of the farm on top of everything else, her new start isn't working out as she'd hoped.
Xander North is a successful actor with a lot on his mind and a big decision to make. Bramblewick seems like the perfect place to stay while he contemplates his future. But Xander has a big heart and a deep love for animals, and somehow waifs and strays keep landing on his doorstep. Since he's in a rented cottage, what is he to do with them?
Xander has childhood memories of Folly Farm and wonders if the residents there can help him. But things have changed since he last visited, and despite a warm welcome from the owner, her daughter doesn't seem so sure of him.
As the summer rolls on, Xander and Rachel both have difficult choices to make. Should they go with their heads or their hearts?
Folly Farm has become the place of second chances for animals, but can it work its magic on two scared people?

About the author

Sharon Booth writes cosy romances, as warm and welcoming as a mug of hot chocolate, served in delicious, small-town settings, stirred with family relationships, close friendships, and tight-knit communities, and topped with a swirl of humour.
They're also available with a scoop of the supernatural, and/or sprinkles of magic and mystery!
Contemporary romance fans should check out the Kearton Bay, Skimmerdale, Home for Christmas, Bramblewick, Moorland Heroes, The Other Half, and Tuppenny Bridge series.
If magic and mystery is your thing, Sharon also has a series of non-spicy, light-hearted paranormal romances, The Witches of Castle Clair, which features the talented St Clairs, their quirky familiars, and quite a bit of cake. They offer lots of magical mishaps, family dramas, and new twists on myths and legends.
New for 2025! Ghosts of Rowan Vale is a brand-new series set in the stunning Cotswolds. Cosy contemporary romance with a dash of ghostly goings-on! Kindred Spirits at Harling Hall, the first in the series, is out now.
Sharon lives in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. When she's not writing she loves reading, visiting old castles, abbeys, and stately homes, watching Cary Grant films and old Ealing comedies, or researching her family tree. She loves horses, hares, and harbours, and admits to being shamefully prone to crushes on fictional heroes!

- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2018Rachel is home in the small village of Bramblewick with her son Sam living at her mother's home, Folly Farm. When a mysterious stranger Zander begins to add rescued animals to the once busy farm, it means a fresh start for everyone.
I love the Bramblewick stories - actually, all Ms. Booth's books - and this one I thought was especially touching. The author has a way of making all her characters very true to life and likable with all their faults and troubles. Rachel and Zander are a lovely couple and truly deserve their happy ending.
I grabbed this book this morning when it came out and immediately read through it. It's an easy read, and I always enjoy visiting the other people who've appeared in the series previously. There are small touches of humor, lovely descriptions of the countryside and village, and a story that touches the reader's heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant chapter of the Bramblewick series.
It takes much awareness and a great sense of balance to treat certain topics without sounding nor trivial or superficial, nor tragic. This story is pure emotion. Sharon Booth never ceases to amaze me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner from Sharon Booth
Another great feel good read from Sharon Booth. Her books are guaranteed to leave you with a smile on your face, but there is always depth in what she writes. Rachel was someone I could relate to from the start. She's been through a tough time with her ex-husband, and just wants what's best for her son, Sam. What could be better for the young boy than returning to the sanctuary of the village where she was brought up, Bramblewick, in beautiful North Yorkshire? Of course, life is never as easy as that. Rachel's mum seems to have changed completely since losing her husband, and the family farm that used to be so vibrant and alive, is feeling even sorrier for itself. Rachel's demanding job as a practice nurse in the village surgery also brings its challenges, But when Fred and Xander appear in her life, and with ex-husband still trying to exert control over her life, it's not long before Rachel finds herself at the centre of a medical emergency that could change everything for her, Sam, and his father, Grant. I won't say any more for risk of spoiling this lovely story, but if you want plenty of medical drama, a beautiful village setting with animals that you'll love just as much as the characters, then Fresh Starts at Folly Farm is definitely another winner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful
Part three of a lovely series, the familiar characters are there in the background but this story introduces Rachel the new practice nurse, she has moved to her mother's farm, Folly Farm. Her first patient one morning is a man hiding behind dark glasses and a big coat. The setting of a village in Yorkshire is the perfect place for this story to unfold, I really got to know the character Rachel, her ex truly was a villainous character, he will make your blood boil when you find out what he did. Sharon Booth's writing is so true, she makes her characters so real it's brilliant. The length of the story is perfect, it made me feel happy and wanting to read the next one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable feel-good read
I took my kindle on a long bus ride and read this novel from start to finish before the journey was over. Another great feel-good read from this author, and thank goodness too. I've had enough of psychological thrillers/ women in danger and darkness. I now want to read some of her 'Christmasy' books - starting with Bell, Book and Christmas Candle which I've just ordered as a paperback. If you want your spirits lifting, look no further.

5.0 out of 5 stars Folly Farm is Fabulous
Rachel has returned to her home village of Bramblewick, 6-year-old son, Sam, in tow, to start again at her mum's farm. The farm - in a state of disrepair and without animals - has definitely seen better days but, then again, so has Rachel. She desperately needs the fresh start but will she get it when Sam clearly hates the move?
The unexpected appearance of a horse in their empty stables is the first of several additions to Folly Farm, courtesy of mysterious newcomer, Xander, who can't seem to say no when presented with an animal in crisis. With animals back on the farm and the friendship from Xander, Sam seems happier and even Rachel's mum has a spring in her step. But who is Xander and is he reliable enough to be let into their lives?
It's fair to say that I've loved everything that Sharon Booth has written and I've really enjoyed this series of feel-good shorter books set in Bramblewick, but this one has just nudged ahead as my favourite of the Bramblewick series. It's always nice to catch up with characters who've made an appearance in other books and find out how their lives have moved on and there was something about this particular story that I absolutely loved. I look forward to hearing more about the residents (including the animals) at Folly Farm in future books.
