Kept to Kill: A Reverse Harem Enemies to Lovers Dark Romance (The Dark Brothers Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 299 ratings

Lily has been alone for most of her life. Held as a captive. Used as a weapon.

The mercenaries who ‘rescue’ her are as intriguing as they are brutal, but Lily is still a pawn in the games of men. They’ll use her and cast her aside if she lets them. That’s if she survives what comes next…

Quin, Commander of the Dark Army, has only one goal and will let Lily die if it serves his purposes, but he’s also drawn to her in a way that makes him wish for more. No one is safe from Mad Mal, a monster who kills to satisfy dark needs. He will make her pay for tempting the other beast he hides within. And the playful Bastian seems harmless, with a taste for wine and women, but he might just harbor the darkest soul of them all...and the darkest secrets.

Each man has his own twisted torments and fierce desires that Lily cannot fathom after her years a captive. But as the days and nights go by, she begins to realize she needs something she never thought she’d have and it may not be the freedom she always yearned for at all.

Can she unlock the hearts of these men who care for nothing and no one to find the pieces of themselves they buried long ago, or will they decide their mission is more important than the woman who brings them to their knees?

Kept to Kill is the third standalone in the Dark Brothers Series of dark fantasy romance. If you like strong, but desolate heroines, morally grey antiheroes that make your blood run cold even as it heats up, and your Happily Ever Afters with some darkness before the light, you will love this book.

Read the next dark adventure in this amazing series today before the price changes!

Dark Realms. Dark Anti heroes. Dark Fantasies.

Kyra was almost 20 when she read her first romance. From Norsemen to Regency and Romcom to Dubcon, tales of love and adventure filled a void in her she didn’t know existed.

She’s always been a writer in her head but didn't actually do it for a very long time. Its only recently that she’s started to tell stories in the genres she loves most – which at the moment are very ‘why choose’!!

She grew up in South New Jersey and now lives with her husband and two kids near London in the UK.

Join us in the Portal to the Dark Realm, Kyra's private Facebook readers' group, because she is literally ALWAYS online unless she's asleep - much to her husband's annoyance! And she loves interacting with people on social media.

She's also on Instagram, Goodreads, Twitter and trying TikTok so follow for all the up-to-date info on release dates, exclusive content and other general awesomeness from the Dark Brothers' world - where the road to happily ever after might be rough, but its well worth the journey!!

Freaking loved this!!! Alessy writes the most amazing dark romantic fantasy!!! Her characters are AMAZING!! The dark brothers are, of course, Dark, Broken, Sexy, Alpha-holes, but then comes along a woman who integrates into their hearts, becomes their fourth (through a blood bond, which is magical) and these men are still dark, sexy, alphas, but they become healed, loving and as a unit they become stronger and closer to each other. I always pick a favorite, but in this book I find it the hardest. I love them all!! If I have to pick, I guess I’d say Quinn. I loved Lily’s character, she is really broken and been mistreated and she can’t touch anyone or they will die!!! This story is FANTASTIC!! I feel like each Dark Brothers’ book gets better and better!! And there is so much going wrong in their realm, I can’t wait to finally get answers to what is going wrong with the portals and the wards!! Not to mention why gods are disappearing on the mount!!! The world building is picturesque, creating such detailed mental images that you can picture yourself there!! I feel like I say this in each review of her books, but she is an INCREDIBLE writer!!!! If you haven’t picked up this series yet, and this is your cup of tea, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you start that first book, and I guarantee you won’t want to stop the series!! I’m really looking forward to the release of book four!!! Thank you for writing this series!!!

This was a decent book. It had a plot, good character development. Can't say it was steamy or even sexy though there was a little bit of sex involved. (M/f, m/m). I had hoped for more answers regarding the portals, wards, Realms since this is the third in the series. Still no answers though. The storyline was good enough, boring at times, and at times a character's 'reflection' went on and on and on for pages. I skipped through so many pages; I just stopped caring how Lily felt or what she had to say after reading for the fifth time how she worried about her gift/curse, and how she wondered if the guys liked her. I really liked the development of Mal, liked learning about Bastion, and was frustrated with Quin. Lily I liked, sympathy sized with, grew bored with, liked again, grew irritated with, and then just accepted her character was what it was. Questions: when someone died, their body was burned to ash, how did they return to their body? What had he bet Galai? Like I wrote, this book is good enough, great if you hadn't read the first two already ( but characters from first two books make an appearance). Readers should be warned this book involves Knife play, descriptions of attempted/actual rape, dubious consent, belting, spanking, humiliation, severe beatings of men and women, and m/m sex.

I must say I don't seem to like the way the books in this series start, but oh how I love them when things change. I love the world building that is starting to slowly take shape. The fact that the women partners in each book are encouraged to find their strengths, while also learning to be able to depend on their team, is fascinating. I would love to see more of the previous characters in future books. At this point, I hope the series doesn't conclude for a long time.

Lily was a joy to watch grow as a character. I wish there had been a way for her to learn to control her power i stead of what was used in the end but it was a great story and watching her relationship with the guys made my heart race. 5 star read for sure.

In this book, the overarching storyline for the series really starts to come out. I'm fascinated to see what will happen next. I really like that each book leads into the next without cliffhangers.

Lily is cursed. Anyone she touches, skin-to-skin, dies horribly and painfully within two days. So when she's removed from her tower refuge and catches the eye of the Commander of the Dark Army, she exchanges one master for another.
Quin is the one of the youngest Commanders in the Dark Army's history. He lost one of his Brothers thanks to the machinations of the previous Commander, and now he and his other Brother Mal must get used to the newest member of their trio, Bastien.
Lily is dragged into their fracturing unit due to her 'gift', and although she's meant to be their Fourth, Quin treats her as a slave and a tool. Lily is forced to endure more than she should, and it's mostly due to Quin's treatment of her.
This is the book where you know there will be more to follow. Threads have been unravelled, questions asked yet not answered, and characters introduced yet not fully explored. Keep reading. You'll thank me.

A good read. I have read the first in the series on lit and I am happy to buy the books now. Like the others, I couldn't put this book down, so I stay up super late to finish it.. Half of the last chapter felt like the middle of the book rather than the end, but the additional epilogue makes up for it. Can't wait for Vie's story :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Great up and coming author to Reverse Harem Fantasy

I ran into Kyra Alessy quite by accident, but I'm entirely glad that I did. It's been a long while since I was able to find a new author who takes themselves seriously while writing reverse harem. There's certainly been a progression through the first three books of this series, and I think Kyra is finally finding the pace she's comfortable with.

Kept to Kill follows the known pattern of three Brothers, each with their own secrets and a fairly broken captive that becomes their Fourth. More than previous novels, there was a focus on the world building, the foreshadowing for connecting novels and the unravelling of a bigger mystery. I liked the easy going Bastian, dark and dangerous Mal and the ever conflicted Quin, though I probably wanted to hurt Quin quite a bit as well. Lily is such a sweet girl and broken in so many ways. There were several times when my heart squeezed painfully for her suffering. But in the arms of her three Brothers she finds peace and herself at long last.

    Supremely enjoyable!

I read book one thinking it was going to be another "formula romance"... but I was wrong. The female characters are all strong women & I love the over arching story of the "dark realms" & the struggle to control it. Looking forward to the rest
