Dead on My Feet: Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels Mysteries, Book 8 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.3 out of 5 stars 1,091 ratings

His name is Phineas Troutt. He's a problem solver. If a woman is being stalked by her ex-husband, Phin can convince him to stop. If a union is being squeezed, Phin can squeeze the squeezer. He's not a mercenary. He's not a bodyguard. He's not a private dick. He's a guy who takes cash for solving problems with violence.

When a doctor at a suburban women's health clinic is being harassed, she hires Phin to make it stop. But the situation proves to be larger, and more dangerous, than even he can handle on his own. So he calls in some friends to help out; a P.I. named Harry McGlade and a female cop named Jack Daniels.

What a great mix of crazy characters - insane crimes being committed and people being tortured in ways I’d never imagined, but the personalities of the characters keep me laughing. Really hope to see Phin again!!!

From small Acorns do great oaks grow. Many years ago I went into a mall bookstore - and there was energetic man plugging his new book Whiskey Sour. I felt for this poor schlub so I bought it - and tossed in on my book shelf. Years later, I found it and gave it a shot and was instantly hooked. If you haven't discovered Konrath and his expanding universe then get ready to be immersed.

Phineas Trout 'Finn" as a solo series is like seeing an old friend that you've sought for years ---- You will feel his physical pain, and life's pain -- but keep fighting for what is right. This book takes place in Chicagoland with thinly disguised actual places and cities --- it all comes together perfectly with the most unlikely 'partner' you have EVER found in a book. I guarantee it!!!

    Honk if you love Konrath!!!!

Nice to get see and learn about Phin and his background. Some of the writing repeats itself (line by line), but I’m hoping it was intentionally done vs believing that we as readers would not catch it. I love the Jack Daniels series and thought this was a good book that had Jack and Harry in it to continue the connection of these characters. I would recommend for those want the back story of Phin.

A fun read. The interaction of the characters and the interlaced humor made this one of my recent favorites. I've never been inside the world of Phin Troutt before and honestly can' t wait to jump back in. What wa very enjoyable for me wa that I live right were this story was supposed to have takken place. Not Flutesburg (fictitious) but a half mile from Higgins Rd and Peach Grove Rd (Plum Grove Rd). I had fun seeing my stomping in a story I wa readind and enjoying. Cant wait to read the next one!

I first came upon Phin in Konrath's "Jack Daniels" series. This is the homage to the start of Phin & his journey. It was great to get to know the character and his past and how he became a "problem solver" Jack & Harry are also in this book. Interesting story on a doctor who's clinic is trying to be forced out of town with some other businesses. Phin takes the case & is soon mixed up in the mob, politics, & possibly a new relationship

I actually laughed out loud reading this. Which is not something I do often. It's has a lot of dark moments but the humor is so unexpected in random places, you just have to laugh.
I wasn't sure if I would enjoy a book with just Phineas, was afraid it wouldn't work without Jack. But I was wrong. It was just as good as the Jack books. Maybe it's Harry (who I don't really like, but I think that's the point) that makes the books.
I would recommend this to any one that likes a good gritty crime drama with some very funny stuff in between

I can't believe that nobody wanted to publish that book! That is a great story, Phineas is a really cool and untypical character! I really like the "film noir" atmosphere with a modern and crass touch. Looking forward to follow his next adventures. :)

Phineas Troutt has been recommended to Brpasha Kapoor, a doctor. Why because he is a fixer of problems and she is being harassed and wants him to stop it. But the situation becomes deadly and he calls in back-up in the guise of Harry McGlade and Jack Daniels.
    An enjoyable well-written thriller
