Death of a Blogger: A Lady Marjorie Snellthorpe Mystery Novella Kindle Edition
When a gossip blogger joins a tour party along with victims of her malicious words, there can only be one outcome!
A river cruise from Amsterdam turns deadly.
When Lady Marjorie Snellthorpe embarks on her first river cruise with companions Rachel Prince and Sarah Bradshaw, she's not expecting murder for company! It's bad enough knowing there might be a murderer among their travelling party, but then Lady Marjorie finds herself saddled with a most unwelcome guest. Edna Parkinton, Marjorie's estranged cousin-in-law is loud, brash and tells it as it is. Marjorie can't wait to be shot of her. With Rachel and Sarah intent on enjoying a holiday for once, Marjorie decides to investigate a guest's suspicious death herself. Will she find the killer before the killer finds her?
Laugh out loud fun and mayhem, this prequel provides an appetising taster for the series to follow. Edna Parkinton is a welcome addition to Dawn Brookes's intriguing characters.

Review
"Oh my goodness, I loved this book so much! Lady Marjorie has always been my favorite character of the series so I was really excited about this novel. Edna and Lady Marjorie are such opposites. It was really funny to read about them together."
"Lady Marjorie is off on another adventure with her sidekicks Rachel and Sarah. Add to the mix her sister-in-law and of course a dead body."

About the author

Award winning author, Dawn Brookes lives in Derbyshire, England and holds an MA in Creative Writing with Distinction. She is the author of three cozy mystery series:
The Rachel Prince Mysteries are hugely popular and combine a unique blend of murder, cruising and medicine with a touch of romance. These books are regularly bestsellers across the globe. The first two books are soon to be translated into Japanese.
The Carlos Jacobi series has gained its own readership. Carlos is a PI, who owns an ex-cadaver Springer Spaniel and works alongside Fiona Cook, a troubled, but likeable.
The Lady Marjorie Snellthorpe Mysteries begins with the prequel Death of a Blogger and has grown in popularity since first being published.
Dawn also has a 39 year nursing pedigree and has travelled extensively throughout her life. Nowadays, she loves cruise holidays and says she should do more for research purposes! Dawn brings her passion for cruises, animals and engaging characters along with a love of clean crime into her Rachel Prince & Lady Marjorie series.
The surname of the Rachel Prince protagonist is in honour of her childhood dog, 'Prince', who used to put his head on her knee while she lost herself in books.
Dawn is also author of a series of memoirs. Hurry up Nurse: Memoirs of nurse training in the 1970s, Hurry up Nurse 2: London calling and Hurry up Nurse 3: More adventures in the life of a student nurse. Dawn worked as a hospital nurse, midwife, district nurse and community matron across a thirty-nine year year career. Before turning her hand to writing for a living, she had multiple articles published in professional journals and co-edited a nurse textbook.
She grew up in Leicester where her second and third Carlos Jacobi Books are based, Dawn moved to London and Berkshire but now lives in Derbyshire. Dawn holds a bachelors degree with honours in community health studies, a Masters degree in education as well as her MA in Creative Writing.
Writing across genres, Dawn also writes for children.
Dawn has a passion for nature and loves animals, especially dogs and there has rarely been a time in her life when she hasn't had a dog. Animals will continue to feature in her children's books as she believes caring for animals and nature helps children to become kinder human beings.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWell written and well thought out characters. Enjoyed the relationship between Marjorie and her young friends. Even for a novella, the story just wasn’t long enough, or it would have gotten 5 stars from me. She is in a beautiful part of the world, sailing along on a lazy river boat. It needs a little more description of what she is seeing from the ship. Maybe information about what castles adorn the hills as she travels past.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2023Format: KindleWhat a great start to a new series. This was my first introduction to the author and now I plan to read more!
This book was very entertaining and I honestly didn't predict the killer as I often do so that was a plus. The characters were a great variety and well done. I liked how the most annoying Edna was shown to have a sweet side too. I definitely recommend this one
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2022Format: KindleA truly delightful cozy murder mystery. Marjorie and her young friends are about to depart on a cruise when a nasty blogger falls to her death.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2022Format: KindleThis is the first time I have heard of Lady Marjorie and I am in love. What began as a nice cruise with her two young friends turned into quite an adventure of the murder kind. I am looking forward to reading more of Lady Marjorie's adventures.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2022Format: KindleDeath of a Blogger is a novella designed to spin-off Lady Marjorie Snellthorpe into her own series after formerly appearing in the Rachel Prince Mysteries series.
Accompanied by Rachel and Sarah Bradshaw on her first ever river cruise the would-be sleuth is plunged into a murder investigation when one of the guests is pushed down the stairs at the hotel before they even set sail.
Because this is Marjorie’s chance to shine in her very own book series, Rachel & Sarah are just bit part characters and this gives a chance for Marge’s estranged cousin-in-law Edna who is booked on the same cruise to join the hunt for the murderer.
With a victim who has many enemies booked on the trip it is up to Marge & Edna to get to the truth.
This is a delightful cozy mystery and the interaction between Marjorie and Edna is a joy as the two explore their new found relationship whilst sharing a cabin (much to Marjorie’s annoyance)
The book sets up the Marge/Edna sleuthing due perfectly ready to plunge into the following titles in the series.
Witty, well written and fun, hopefully there are many further adventures for the quarrelsome twosome to come.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2022Format: KindleThis was the first book I've read by Dawn Brooks and I found it entertaining and a quick read. However, there's no depth to the characters or the setting, so it's not a book that made me feel as if I were there. I had hoped to find out why all these people who'd had bad experiences with the murdered woman were on the same cruise, but there was no explanation for it. I also found the main character, Marjorie, quite rude and unlikable. My favorite character was Edna.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Read
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI have read all of Dawn Brookes books and love them all. They are a great escapist read and character driven which means I am invested in what happens to them. This new series looks like it will be as enjoyable as all the others. Dawn just cannot write enough of these for me. I pre order them as soon as they are available and always look forward to them.

2.0 out of 5 stars Unconvincing characterisation of main character
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseNo 80 year old could behave in the way Lady Snelthorpe does. There are too many , too similar characters. There is no time to develop any of them, or to draw the environment. This is more like the outline sketch plan for a full length novel: very rough.
