Dragons Return (Dragons in the Dark Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,066 ratings

Her people fled underground to escape dragons, monsters, and other humans. Now, the only thing that might save them is to embrace the thing they fear most. Can dragons lift Lisbeth and her people from the dark depths to the light of the sun?

The first book in an epic dragon rider series from international bestselling author Jada Fisher.

Lisbeth is the unacknowledged daughter of a noble in the subterranean city of Kyerchov, but that has given her no advantages in life. Quite the opposite, in fact. She spends her days sneaking to the ruins of an ancient city on the surface, braving monsters and dangerous beasts to look for scrap she can sell in the underground city. When she finds a dragon, an injured woman, and a mysterious egg, she is faced with a choice that could destroy her people. But it might also be the only way to save them.

Dragons Return is the first book in the Dragons in the Dark series, a fantasy adventure set in the same world as the bestselling Dragon Guard series. If you enjoy magical worlds and unforgettable characters, you don't want to miss this epic adventure from Jada Fisher.

The story is wonderful! However, I almost gave up on the book when I saw I’d reached 80% of the book without a dragon in sight. I sincerely hope this isn’t the case for all the books in the series. Bless you and thank you.’’

This was one of the most entrancing intro to a series I’ve read. (I read every day, since a very young age.) That said, I’m leaving you to continue on…

Okay, quick huzzahs for character creation, World creation within an already fascinating world (!) and for setting up what I expect to bet one of the best series yet. Dragon lovers, Post apocalyptic fans, tales of rags to riches fanciers - this book series is for all of you!

    Enjoy!

I found it very difficult all that Lissy had to go through, physically. She tried so hard to take care of her family, and kept getting beaten up for her efforts. I would not recommend it for young people.

The story started out slow for maybe two pages, then it ratcheted up to a breakneck pace from then on to the end. The characters are fascinating, the peril the poor people are faced with every waking hour, and that is just in the underground city itself. Going up to the surface is ten times worse! The plot is straightforward, and the premise is for the main character to live long enough to survive and help her fellow orphans. I most definitely recommend this book!

Great story building in exacting detail told through the each person through their hardships. More like unfortunate people in real life doing it hard but resolutely getting it done. And a dragon.
