All You Need is a Duke (The Duke Hunters Club Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 2,309 ratings

He needs a bride. She needs to escape her mother.

When Margaret Carberry’s mother hauls her upstairs at a ball, Margaret hardly expects to be tied to a bed and left half-dressed. But her mother is determined to see her married—even if it means fabricating a scandal.

Jasper Tierney, Duke of Jevington, is stunned to find a half-clothed woman in his bed. He’s even more stunned to discover it’s Margaret Carberry—a notorious wallflower, not a scheming seductress. Margaret refuses to go along with her mother’s plot and declares she’ll find a husband on her own. Jasper, horrified by the prospect of further schemes, volunteers to help.

After all, he has no intention of marrying.

But as he begins introducing her to suitable gentlemen, he’s faced with a troubling new problem. He doesn’t want Margaret to marry any of them. Because the longer she stays unmarried… the more he wants her for himself.

USA TODAY Bestselling Author Bianca Blythe writes fun and frothy happily ever afters for the wallflowers and spinsters, dukes and rogues, who fill her regency romances. Born in Texas, Bianca spent four years in England. She worked in a fifteenth-century castle, though sadly that didn't actually involve spotting dukes and earls strutting about in Hessians.

She credits British weather for forcing her into a library, where she discovered her first Julia Quinn novel. She remains deeply grateful for blustery downpours.

After meeting her husband in another library, she moved with him to sunny California, though on occasion she still dreams of the English seaside, scones with clotted cream, and sheep-filled pastures. For now, she visits them in her books.

When a desperate wallflower seeks a Duke’s help to avoid her mother’s scheme, their close proximity will awaken unexpected feelings...

It has been a few months since I have read Mrs Bianca Blythe’s work and here I got everything that made me love her books.
Funny moments, kind characters, witty dialogues...

Margaret is like many debutante, a wallflower and it suits herself perfectly. She knows she is not at her place in a ballroom as the daughter of successful trader, she is seen as only a big bank account and nothing else to vouch for her. All her life, she has been dismissed for her interests far from fashion and lofty bloodline. If not for her crazy mama, she would never have truly meet the duke of Jevington. So as she was able to save them both from a doomed union, she dares ask him his help to secure a groom-to-be, and she is even more stunned when he goes wild in his assistance to reach her goal.
Jasper, like many peers, looks like he has dedicated his life to partying and enjoyments. But all this hide his own scars, he had it all as a young man but lost everything, since he likes to stay in the fringe of life, devoted to help others. So when Margaret after rescuing from a very unfortunate fate, requires a bit of help, he is determined to thank her ten folds by setting her in one party with all the bachelor dukes.

This is a sweet and funny tale of two people who have to accept their worth and decide if they might have it with the other. Jasper despite his lofty title never saw himself as a must-catch, he has his self doubts and they refrain him from acting plainly, but in close contact with Margaret, as she does not react with him as many women seing only his title, he is for once able to get close to a woman who has no expectation from him as she herself does not believe he could be attracted to him. It is their own insecurities and kind personalities that will mend the fence for them.

4.5 stars for an entertaining and pages turner tale, the bodyguards rescue is quite hilarious.

I was granted an advance copy by the author through Netgalley, and will purchase my own. Here is my true en unbiased opinion.

I really liked the story, however, because I've had such horrible experiences with most of the Margarets I've known, it made me have a harder time getting into the character. Also, I tend to look at the cover sometimes to help me decide whether I'm going to want to read a book or not. If the cover photo is blah, I usually just don't even bother to read what the book is about, so covers do make a difference. I love Bianca's books and she has some great covers to go along with the stories. This one was a tad confusing though. Margaret and then later, Mr. Owens, kept talking about her being a tad on the heavy side or plump side, but the woman on the cover of this book was not plump at all. As for the other aspects of the story, there were a few places that I felt like some things got dropped. For instance, when Lady Juliet went with Margaret to be a sort of quasi chaperone when she ran off to Gretna Green, what happened to her? How did she get back to London? Margaret's mother was a real horror story. Also, if Mr. Owens had come to the weekend house party with the Duke of Ainsworth, why didn't Ainsworth get more involved in that storyline? And one moment Jasper is convinced by his friends that Margaret believes he doesn't want to marry her and the next he's been in Gretna Green a week, and also the next, Margaret, Juliet and Mr. Owens had arrived. How did Jasper get there a whole week earlier than the other 3? Even though I always enjoy Bianca's books and I did enjoy this one as well, there were just those few holes in the story that bothered me a little. Going to read book 2 next. Maybe that will fill in the holes in Juliet's storyline.

The couple seemed to be so empty headed about their attraction. I could predict the outcome but felt both were very odd in their perception of life and love. The parents of the girl were also almost paper like in their reactions. How root was a fun book to read.

Duke of Jevington has such patience. And his odd way of presenting her a husband by inviting his friends to his house in Dorset and not other guests was kinda of an odd way of introducing her to finding a husband.
I liked the fact that Margaret wasn't in a hurry to choose and just kept being herself around the Dukes. Can see how she can be when she has parents that she does. I did not like Mr.Owen.

This book was exceptionally silly and yet I believe that is how the author intended it to be. The humor style reminded me of the movie “The Princess Bride” which happens to be a favorite amongst many. I personally do not care for that type of silly humor. Hence, the four stars rather than 5. Overall, cute story with intrigue enough to keep you reading.

Oh my! What to say. Poor Margaret Carberry, I think would be a good start! What on earth did she do to deserve such an 'old harpy' of a mother that she has. Margaret was not the usual run of the mill debutante, she had a few issues some of which are highlighted through the book, but having said that she was a lovely kind girl, who through her mother's pushing became involved with the 'slightly' dim but handsome, Jasper, Duke of Jevington,(I really thought he needed to 'man up' and practice his Ducal glare!! Some of the incidence involving him were amusing and at times downright unbelievable.)
Poor Margaret in an effort to stop her mother forcing the Duke to marry her, became involved with an obnoxious male whom I really don't know why she didn't give him a black eye. Suffice it to say Margaret gained her Happy Ever After, and did stand up to her mother.
The book is an enjoyable, if a bit daft start to a series and I'm sure Margaret and Jasper will appear again. I read the book using Kindle Unlimited but the book is so reasonably priced and I feel sure I will purchase it.

This was a quick fun read. I like the authors way with word sometimes
"At some point her breath seemed to have left her. No doubt, it preferred lingering about him."
Not a lot of character development, but it had a slightly different storyline. So all in all, not a bad read. I'd give it 3 1/2 stars.

1.0 out of 5 stars Immature writing, stilted plot, caricaturized characters
Reviewed in India on July 9, 2022

The summary seemed exciting, the writing initially seemed quirky. But it soon became dull, repetitive, tedious and very kiddish. The characters appeared like caricatures. I could not understand if the author was deliberately trying to create an immature profile or just suffered from poor writing skills. Some plots were so overly repetitive (like how can you go over statements of how many house guests there were), while some jumped the plot so hastily that it did not make any sense. I skimmed through most pages to just get to the end which was again so abrupt. Just could not understand any character or plot development.

A humorous start and a good plot and story but does get rather drawn out towards the end. Enjoyable reading & should be taken with a pinch of salt.
