Kindred (Earthshaker Series Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 21 ratings

“You saved me, consider this a gift. I will be watching. Be safe, Tracker- Kindred.” With this message, Kindred entered Jason’s life as a protector—and a threat. When Kindred’s vendetta leads to a confrontation between the two men, Jason must fight his instinct to run in order to stay and protect the people he loves. After everything Jason suffered, Hannah wants him to stop working with the police and live a more normal life. When Kindred refuses to stop, she recognizes Jason can’t remain idle while the assassin continues his killing spree. When Kindred gets in the way of Jason living his life, she needs to let Jason deal with him in his own way.

Jason is back and better than ever. The story picks up right where Tracker left off. Jason has now meet someone with similar powers to himself. It is action packed and I believe the writing has grown stronger as the series has continued. You have a little bit of romance, suspense and action. Kindred is a great new character who adds a new element to the tale. I just love it. Overall a great series for all fantasy lovers. The new cover is fantastic!!

Kindred is a fantastic continuation of the Earthshaker series. It's a delicate balance for an author to remind us what happened in the first book without letting the book get bogged down with information we already know, yet Lemke did a wonderful job with this sequel.

There was a lot to enjoy about Kindred. We were given three POVs to see the story through and my personal favorite was Kindred, the mysterious assassin who left some not-so-pleasant gifts for Jason. I'm always a fan of being in the antagonist's mind and this was especially interesting since Kindred truly believed killing people for Jason was a good thing. However, Jason didn't want the blood on his hands and once he made that known, Kindred turned his attentions on Jason and his friends instead. I thought the possession of Jason was a really cool touch.

Speaking of Jason's friends... what a supportive and understanding bunch. I especially enjoyed Heather's interactions with Jason and I am really rooting for the romance between them to develop in the next installment.

Overall, this was an exciting read with lots of action and suspense!

Kindred, is the title of Adrianne Lemke’s second book of the Earthshaker series. After Jason was taken captive, and forced to kill the man who was torturing him, he was rescued by someone who seemed to have similar powers as he did. It felt strange to have someone around who was like Jason himself. Then, Kindred began to kill. He killed anyone who bothered Jason. Jason was fighting his own demons because of killing his tormenter, but it only added to his misery when Kindred felt the need to kill Jason’s father. He had to stop Kindred before there was more killing. Each time Jason encounters Kindred, he discovers something new about himself. The question is, can Jason stop him? Good book, and there is another after this one!!

I got the first book for free, Earthshaker, and didn't want the story to be over. I immediately bought the 2nd book, Kindred, and I look forward to the rest of the series.

I can't fault the writing; nothing was wrong with it, per se. But the multiple viewpoints caused the angst to be multiplied in triplicate! This was not a good thing. If the MC is dealing with emotional trauma, why is it necessary to expound on said drama by cycling through two additional viewpoints? Simply because the author can? I guess! Most of the time nothing new is brought to light by the switches in POV either. These switches just tend to be a vehicle used to reiterate/rehash/regurgitate the situation, but we had already learned it from the viewpoint of the main character when it was his turn. If the author had just picked a character and stayed the course with him/her for the whole installment, I might have continued. But seeing as how this style seems to be her preferred mode of writing, I will be moving on to other authors.

Adrianne Lemke is a wonderful and brillent storyteller. A real coming of age story in which the reader is etertained to the exploits of Jason, as he grows to control his powers to control earthquakes. The characters in this tale are both believable and fun. It will keep you turning the pages to the very end.
