- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2019I normally pass on short stories. But this a prequel to a story that I've been waiting for, Defying Gravity. I was hooked on this story from the opening couple of paragraphs. I love the way we get dance videos to watch that help us picture the dance moves and characters' attire, etc. I love the way KK Allen brings characters to life. Their feelings and chemistry are palpable and I just adore Tobias and Amelia and I think this bit of story is worth reading so you understand them in the next story.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2019A great short prequel story that will interlude the story of Amelia and Tobias to Defying Gravity. Lots of emotions that will take you by storm and leave you wondering how the story will go next. Can't wait to see how it goes...
Amelia has always had a crush on Tobias but never followed through with anything since he was her best friends brother. He was always gone for a long while and then return to town without any explanation. She's still chasing her dreams and tries to make them true. But one week together will change everything... Will it be enough for both to realise there might be something more than friendship between them?...
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2022Falling From Gravity was the perfect prequel to Amelia and Tobias’ story. I loved seeing how they started, how they fell for each other, and how they fell in love with each of their passions (dance for Amelia and basketball for Tobias). The road trip detailed so vividly in this book is referenced several times in Defying Gravity so this is the perfect read. Fantastic read and exactly what a prequel should be - it made me so much more excited to read the next book and see what happens in Amelia and Tobias’ journey!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2019With Defying Gravity releasing soon, I decided I needed to read this bit of backstory. My first book by this author, I was sure I knew what I was in for. And all the tropes are there: best friend's older brother taboo, broody male with a secret, and another which I won't spoil.
And the writing is ... fine, if a little rushed. It's a novella, after all. Nothing that really makes it stand out amongst all the other books like this. Except for the ending.
I'll admit, from the blurb of the next story I was positive I knew how this story was going to go. I've read similar stories like this and most of the time the couple are either living in a HFN or they're broken up outright. This was neither of those. So for that surprise alone I bumped up my rating as it's not often books manage this feat.
With that being said, I am not eagerly awaiting the next book to learn what happened and get the conclusion to Amelia and Tobias's story.
As an aside: This is the first time I've come across links within the book. Did the videos add anything to the story? Not for me. Is it an interesting concept? Sure, but I would have still enjoyed the story without the video links. It comes across to me as a bit gimmicky.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2019With Falling from Gravity, Amie and Toby have known each other for years, what with her being his sister's best friend. In a week's time, however, everything changes between them while they're away at Big Sur. I decided to re-read this novella even though I'd already read it as part of the Spring Fling anthology because I wanted to see if I'd feel the same way, and yep, I most certainly did! I adored Amie and Toby's story, and the ending was hopeful even if it was clear that there were issues that were left unresolved. This was a great, engaging prequel; it gets 4.5 stars.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2019This prequel is a perfect introduction to Tobias and Amelia’s story! Although Falling from the Gravity is short, it’s filled to the brim with heat, angst and feelings. K.K. Allen created excellent background for a second chance love story and thanks to that, we have a base to understand better the characters and their choices. The writing pulled me in completely and I couldn’t stop reading even for a second. I’m glad that I’ve waited with this read to the last minute, because the wait for Defying Gravity would be a torture!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2019Falling From Gravity was a short novella; a Prequel to Defying Gravity. It was just enough to leave you craving more!
Tobias was ready to get out of town alone, but Amelia somehow convinced him to let her tag along. A week together shouldn’t be a problem, right? Wrong! With both of them trying to fight their feelings, it could be a long week!
This was such a fun, sweet and sexy read! Can’t wait to continue Tobias and Amelia’s story!!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2019This is how it all began for Tobias and Amelia. Although only a novella this one really packs an emotional punch. Falling in love with your sister's best friend and finding your love of a game that was stripped from you when secrets were revealed is not easy for Tobias but it is the love of Amelia and her insight into what makes him tick that brings joy to them both. I cannot wait to read more of this series to see what happens to them.

5.0 out of 5 stars What cant be, should be
He was off limits to her. He was after all the brother of her best friend. Girlfriends first and foremost. Always and forever..
The first step in achieving her dreams is one hour away, but then fate intervenes in the form of a pothole.
Stranded and desperate to taste the future, she reaches out to her best friend, but it's not she who turns up.
Hes not a knight in shining armour, but for today he is changing it up, thus here he is to save her day.
Is this the start of something or just a one day adventure...
I'm desperate for more, to know what the future holds for them both!
I consider my appetite well and truly whetted.
My mind is stimulated with a thousand possibilities, and thoughts of what could be.
K.K Allen always creates characters that win you over in a heartbeat and this is no exception to that.
I prayed Amies dreams were fulfilled, and I hoped with all of my heart that Tobias found peace. That those around him woke up and realised his pain.
A fantastic introduction to both the characters and their backstory.
I'm super excited to follow this up with "Defying Gravity" upon release.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read <3
Falling from gravity is a prequel of defying gravity. The starting of Amelia and Tobias story. Will it be just a spring fling for them? I hope not they seem a perfect match. Love every bit of this book and can't wait to continue reading their story
5* from me
