Firecracker (Honeybridge) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 2,456 ratings

There are three kinds of people in Honeybridge, Maine: The Honeycutts, who know a lot about love and loyalty; The Wellbridges, who think they’re the epitome of wealth and refinement; and the rest of the Honeybridgers, who know better than to get in the way of the centuries-old rivalry between the two.

There wasn’t a time when I didn't know Flynn “Firecracker” Honeycutt.

He’s been my childhood friend. My high school rival. The guy I couldn’t stop dreaming about, long after I thought I’d left him and Honeybridge in my rear-view mirror.

Now he’s the key to the giant promotion that can make or break my career… if I can just convince the man to give me the distribution rights for his award-winning mead.

Unfortunately, that’s easier said than done.

Flynn’s not the guy he used to be. His gorgeous eyes used to spark with dreams and fire, but now he looks at me with cold fury. And just like Achilles had his heel and Samson had his hair, I had Flynn Honeycutt, the one man I’d never been able to charm, despite an entire life spent winning people over.

I’m not giving up, though. Because I’m not the kid I used to be, either. And because, if the two of us can survive a long, hot summer filled with his family’s crazy antics and my mother’s single-handed determination to keep the Wellbridge-Honeycutt feud alive, there might just be a chance for both of us to get what we want:

A new dream.

The fulfillment of an old town legend.

And another chance to spark Firecracker to life.

Firecracker (Honeybridge #1/KU), by Lucy Lennox and May Archer is an AHMAZING read! A second chance, “frenemies” to lovers, unrequited love story, Firecracker and Frog have stolen my heart! ONE OF MY TOP READS OF THE YEAR!!! I literally had tears (happy and sad) throughout because the emotions are gut achingly strong. It is really a one sitting read, but I have to admit, I had to finish in the morning because my leaky eyes made it difficult to see the words at the end, and I did NOT want to miss ONE SINGLE WORD!! Flynn (Firecracker) and J.T. (Frog) have this incredible, palpable chemistry that you feel from the get go, and oh boy are they SMOKING HOT together, from the get go... (High-Five for not following the "formula"). It is not an angsty read, just a really beautifully written, sweet, funny and emotional (in all the best ways) read. *LE SIGH* The collaborative writing is seamless with incredible character development, top notch dialogue and fantastic secondary characters. I want stories for them all. I even bought the audible last night because I need this in my ears ASAP. Michael Dean is going slay this baby!!

Ah, I adored Frog and Firecracker's story, Frog being JT and Firecracker being Flynn. There was a fair bit of heartache that was lingering between these two, and the history that they had was definitely interesting. Add in the rivalry that was still ongoing between their families, and it was almost as if the odds were stacked against them. But love conquers all, even if it does take a bit for them to battle through the insecurities, misunderstandings, and challenges. The main characters truly were the stars of this series starter, but the rest of the cast definitely were not the type you'd thumb your nose at. Talk about notable quirky supporting characters and quite a few that more than piqued my curiosity, which is a good thing since that means I'm itching to read the books to come in this adorably promising series, thanks to a 4.5-star Firecracker of a beginning.

I absolutely loved JT and Flynn’s enemies to lovers story! I loved the long history that JT (Frog) and Flynn (Firecracker) shared dating back to early childhood. It was wonderful seeing these two connect as adults and finally start letting some of their walls down to actually get to know each other. Their connection was so strong it really drew me into their story. Their chemistry was so palpable and the sexy times were super steamy and HOT. I really enjoyed how their story together unfolded and how they each came to realize the other was so important. I loved the pace of the story and how well developed the storyline was. I loved diving into this new world that Lucy Lennox and May Archer have created! It was a wonderful small town with such a wide variety of characters we meet along the way. I loved the strong characters in this book that helped these two find their way together. Notably Pop and JT’s mom. Whine you’ll want to hate until she redeems herself epically. I’d love to learn everyone’s story in Honeybridge!

Firecracker is an excellent start to the Honeybridge series.
I enjoyed meeting every character in this book, even the jerks. They are all vibrant individuals with richly drawn personalities that lead me to wonder which ones will have their own books.
The premise of the piece is simple. I don't see how the implementation was anything near simple. There were so many thoughts and scenes of back and forth, past and present, desire and fear, love and hate, that whiplash was a valid concern. And the authors did it so well.
I love these guys. Firecracker and Jon play well against each other with their snark, attitude, and competitiveness. These are all tempered with a playfulness that they can't help sharing.
Between their passionate devotion to each other and the sheet-scorching sexy times, I find their HEA believable and satisfying.
I laughed and laughed at all these characters, and I teared up a little, too. I love it when that happens.
I closed this book with a sense of sadness that it was over and excitement that I would see all of these people again.
I look forward to more from these authors.

The set-up of high school hook-ups come back as adults is not new. Nor is the Romeo and Juliet theme of lovers from feuding families. But good character description and well worked out plotting raises this above the usual. Drama, humor, and just the right amount of sex makes this an excellent read.

Lucy & May know how to write quirky small towns like nobody’s business. The unique characters, swoony romance, and mildly angsty 3rd acts always have me crawling back for more.

I adore this world both may and Lucy have created such an interesting and fun concept , with complex characters and intriguing plot details. I really enjoyed this first book- although it had a lot of ✨miscommunication✨, which is not my favourite trope. It was handled really well and made sense for the story. The background characters are actually very entertaining, while also being layered and intriguing as well. I highly recommend this book if u what a low angst, enjoyable and absolutely engaging love story that will leave u desperately waiting for the next book :))

Ansiosa.
    Obrigada pelo livro.

    An excellent read!

There are the obvious things in this book, ones that they don't shy away from and even mention themselves. The small town boy who ran to the big city but is home for work and seeing what he's missed. The Montague and Capulet style feud going on between the families. The big business deal that needs to happen and keeps between the two. There are tropes here but they are big enough that even the characters themselves mention them, so the story itself has a chance to flourish even with these known quantities going on.

The two completely different families really were interesting. Not only is there such different upbringings and expectations, but as the book goes on and the curtain is pulled back you see that neither is perfect. The issues of each household have affected the two men in different ways and now they have come out of that as adults who try sometimes conflicting things to be with each other. It was worse when they were kids, trying to keep up a family feud at times and trying to reach out to each other at others, with often poor results. Now as adults it all comes together again explosively as work forces them into each other's orbits and makes them take stock of their work and their lives.

Loved this book and can't wait to read more of the series!

There is fire and chemistry between the main characters. Added to that is the trademark small-town shenanigans one associates with the novels by the authors. Sexiness, charm, and banter combine to make this book a thorough entertainer.
