The Fragile Fall (Undone Book 1) Kindle Edition
Tragedy colored every part of Will Mathers life, shattered the sheltered bubble his parents had created, left him broken and alone. And it was all his fault. Guilt consumed him.
Ryanne Morgan was an expert at keeping all the balls in the air, her life a carefully planned balancing act held together with determination and chewed up bits of bubble gum. She didn’t have time for anything—especially love.
When an enigmatic boy moved in next door, she couldn’t deny the pull she felt toward him. She became the push to his pull … the want to his need … the light to his dark. And for the first time in a long time, Will could see past the blackness. Finally … finally, he wasn’t alone.
But the ever present guilt clawed at Will, robbing him of his newfound peace. The memories haunted him, so consuming that even Ryanne couldn’t light his way.
Guilt was the thief of happiness and shame had a way of twisting the knife deeper, proving the only way to go was down. Will was fragile and all he had left to do was fall.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2015Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI will start this off by saying that I started this series backwards. Its because I loved book two so much, I needed to go back to book one to Ryanne and Will’s story. If I thought I knew their story, I was wrong. I am so glad I decided to read it. It wasn’t until now that I truly understood the depth of their love and all it overcame.
“I ran from all the reminders that showed me everything I couldn’t have because of how broken I was.”
One decision shatter’s the life of seventeen year old Will. Everything he knows and loves is no more. Will grew up with overbearing parents that protected him from everything. Until one night they could not. Tragedy causes Will to leave his home and live with his Aunt. Will is broken by guilt and cannot forgive himself. His heart and soul is dark. Shattered into pieces. Until Ryanne comes in with her light. She threatens his darkness. She gives him hope of the possibility of happiness, life, and even love.
“His eyes were like a gentle touch that stayed on my skin even after he looked away. I could feel him when he was in the same room, even if I wasn’t looking at him.”
The moment Will sees Ryanne, his breath stops. And I felt it. The author puts you in that moment. The moment when Will’s soul awakens from the darkness. However, he is hesitant. Not sure how to make friends as guilt makes him believes he's not worthy of living again.. But Ryanne’s spirit draws him in and he wants nothing more than to be around her. Everyday Will comes out of his shell with the new found friendship in Ryanne and her brother Jax. They soon become inseparable. There is a bond between the three of them. There is also an underlying attraction between Will and Ryanne that they both try to avoid. Will believes he’s too broken. While Ryanne does not want to shatter his already broken pieces. Little do they know that life becomes more bearable when they are together.
“...but it wasn’t something that blossomed with time. It was swift and all-encompassing. And irreversible.”
When the pain becomes too much to deal with. When it hurts to breathe. Will no longer can hold on. He tumbles back into the darkness. The pain and the guilt overwhelms him. The author did an exceptional job on this sensitive and relevant subject. My heart went out to Will and his pain. And anyone that has to go through what he went through. But I was also in awe of his strength. It reminds us that the fall is not what matters, it’s what happens when you get up. And Will? He got up.
“You aren’t broken, Will. You are a survivor.”
This was not an easy story in the sense that pain, guilt, and even lies plague these characters lives. But what makes it worth it is their journey. The lives of Will and Ryanne are shattered because of their circumstances. But their love never faltered in these times. If anything their love and admiration for each other grew stronger though the darkness. These two have to trudge through some obstacles. Their love is tested and their foundation is shaken to its core. But their love always remained.
“Thank you for saving me, Ry. Thank you for loving me even when I was too broken to love you back.”
Can we talk about the that Prologue?! Hello Prologue! What a powerful way to start a book. And the rest of the story? This author’s words gave me LIFE. Every one of her words? I felt. Her words speak to your heart. The flashbacks, the writing style, and the development of the story and it’s characters was absolutely brilliant in it’s execution. This author has effortlessly written a story on loss, forgiveness, acceptance, and love. Ryanne and Will are two broken and beautiful human beings. It hurt to live until they met each other. Their souls became tethered the moment they meet. That’s the depth of their love.
“You aren’t numb. You feel everything when you’re with me. That’s why you’re running. You’re afraid to feel how good this is, how right.”
I think if you get put all the words of the most beautiful love songs together they would only describe a fraction of the love between Ryanne and Will. An entire week later my heart swells over the emotions of this story. I still get chills just thinking about it. I was emotionally overwhelmed in the best way possible. My heart and mind were consumed from the moment I started to the very last page. The characters stole my heart. I lived their story. The Fragile Fall is a powerful, poignant, and thought provoking story that will simply stay with me for a long time to come. Words cannot express how excited I am for the rest of this series and what is to come from this author.

Kristy Love writes a beautiful story in The Fragile Fall, which is the first book of the Undone Series. She introduces us to Will, a 17 year old young man whose life has been obliterated by one poor choice he made to break out of the sheltered life he was forced to live.
After the death of Will’s parents by a drunk driver, his life is uprooted and he goes to live with his Aunt Liv. He is a shy, quiet, boy who feels he has no one in the world and is convinced that “No amount of penance would redeem him” His aunt introduces him to the neighbors Ryanne and Jax who are close to his age and unfortunately know all too well what’s it’s like to be alone with no parents. Liv is desperate to help Will heal and make friends but he isn’t having any of it. “Loneliness was my only real companion – it was the only thing I could really count on.”
After a few attempts, the three of them quickly become friends, but Will and Ryanne were also immediately drawn to each other. Jax warns his sister to stay away from Will, that he couldn’t handle them together, but she is finding him hard to resist. “I had no idea how to fight my feelings for Will when they kept getting more and more intense. And I wasn’t sure I wanted to fight them.” Will was also finding it increasingly difficult to stay away from Ryanne, even though he knew it was a bad idea. “The feelings I had for her were getting stronger and I had been trying to deny them to myself, but I was finding it impossible. The way she looked at me like I was someone special made me want to be someone special to her. I wanted to cause her face to light up in a smile and I wanted to be the one to dry her tears when she cried.”
Will couldn’t let himself tell her how he felt, he had too many demons. Demons he couldn’t bury. He was broken, shattered and just trying to get through each day but it seemed impossible. “Most days it was hard to get out of bed. Memories I thought I had suppressed were resurfacing and it was tearing me apart. It was getting harder and harder to pretend I was okay when every smile was fake and every laugh hurt.” “I wasn’t a whole person and I couldn’t offer her a whole heart. Mine was shattered, crushed, and broken. It was in so many pieces that I wasn’t sure it could ever be repaired. Ryanne deserved someone who could offer her the world.” He soon finds his life in a dangerous tailspin, where guilt has become a permanent companion and before he knows it, it’s out of control.
This is a story about the power of self-love and the love of finding someone to bring you out of the darkness. When Will can’t take the struggle anymore, he goes too far, but that is what it takes for him to realize it’s possible to be put back together. With the love and support of the “family” he has chosen he takes it one step at a time to heal, forgive, and move forward. We all have those moments in life of despair, shame, regret, and complete loss, but how we rise from it determines who we become. “You are human. That’s what it makes you. Sometimes being human means making bad decisions and being wrong. Life is made in the screw ups, Will. Life is messy and hard and complicated, but also beautiful.”
This story allows us to feel pain, sorrow, hate, and love. It teaches us that we have control over more than we think and we don’t have to choose a hard life. We can’t control our circumstances but we can control how we relate to them and our reactions. You may be beat up, but never broken, there is always hope.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2014Format: KindleVerified PurchaseImagine one night of being reckless changing your life forever. Being so young and living your life with guilt and being haunted by memories.
“I don’t think I deserve to let go of the guilt. I don’t deserve forgiveness.”
This book is very emotional. The prologue is powerful, drawing you in from the start. Kristy’s writing is beautiful and takes you through Will’s battle of life after going through a terrible tragedy. It’s written in a beautiful way that helps you feel what Will is feeling and understand his torments. It’s deep, it’s raw, and it will tear at your heart.
“Most days I felt like I was on the bottom of the ocean with coldness seeping into my bones and the unbearable weight pressing me into the sand.”
It was great to see a relationship build for Will between Ryanne and her brother Jax and Will feel like he could be happy. The bond that develops between the 3 of them was beautiful. Aunt Liv was also such great support and it was nice to see Will’s relationship with her evolve.
As Will’s story begins to unfold and we find out more about what happened to his parents, his past demons creep through. We are taken on a heartfelt journey as Will tries to find his way.
“My life was in a dangerous tailspin and I wasn’t sure how much longer I could keep it up.”
This is a beautiful story about dealing with your inner demons, finding strength within yourself, and allowing others in. It’s written in such a manner that you feel so many emotions: pain, hope, love. Excellent debut novel!
“You’ve been my strength, let me be yours.”

4.0 out of 5 stars Painfully beautiful
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis book is difficult to review for me because it hits so close to home that it is painful to think about it. I read it fast, almost too fast, I couldn’t put it down even though I cried more times than I thought would be possible.
Will deals with a case of depression which took him really far but what this book taught you is that if you surrounded with people who truly love you then you can overcome everything that life throws at you.

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly unique story
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWow I loved this story. It touches on a subject of self harming, but the author has worded it superbly. The characters gel so well together. It is a beautiful story of loss, love and devotion.
