Game of Hearts Kindle Edition
The last thing Tori wants is to live her life by anyone else’s rules but her own. Ever since she left the world of country clubs and debutante balls behind, she has lived free of the standards imposed by others. But something is missing…
…and that something is Madeleine, a carefree grad student from the same upper class social circles. The attraction is unexpected and, to Tori’s surprise, more liberating than the life she has cultivated for herself. Piece by piece, Madeleine takes down the wall that conflict and heartbreak have built around Tori’s emotions.
Is loving Madeleine the key to Tori’s healing and happiness? And is Tori willing to step back into that world, even just a little, to take a chance on a love that could last?

About the author

Jea Hawkins writes sweet and spicy contemporary lesbian romance. She writes paranormal romance and urban fantasy as Lucy True. Her historical/contemporary romance, "As Long As Love Lasts," has been nominated for a GCLS Literary Award.
Regardless of genre, if love conquers all, then she’d like to think her heroines can rule the world one day. An east coast transplant to the Midwest, she loves to write about complicated women and settings that feel like home.
Personal addictions include genealogy, autumn, cozy sweaters, hot chocolate, and the Sims 3. She’s both an avid reader and gamer, and hopes readers don’t mind a few geeky references here and there in her work.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2017I felt that this book was well rounded with strong protagonists as well as secondary characters. This is a heartfelt romance with just the right amount of heat. I love the fact that every book by Ms Hawkins has a very different plot and character personalities. I highly recommend this book as well as her previous books.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2018GAME OF HEARTS is a nicely-written, sweet romance about two young women from prominent families on the east coast of the US. Tori (short for Victoria) comes from a dysfunctional if wealthy family controlled by her dominant grandmother; Tori, of an artistic bent, has skipped college and opened a gaming store. Madeleine, from a more loving environment, is a grad student doing her thesis on history's relationship to modern gaming. This last fact brings them together. Once they meet, it is pretty predictable that they will fall for each other. The only question is whether Tori will move to London with Madeleine. The characters are charming but they resolve their problems quite easily, too easily to be very realistic. Jea Hawkins is, however, a skilled writer, and her text flows smoothly and is always interesting.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2018What can I say. Jea Hawkins does it again. This book is more than just cute. It goes in what would have been simple class warfare and self deprecating of ignoramus levels and instead shows one doesn't have to be ashamed of where one comes from. No one asked to be born rich or poor and so on, so good for the author to point this out, bonus points. The characters lack some depth but that can be forgiven by the reality that most of us have experienced what these two leading ladies have and are going through in terms of new love, or taking a liking to someone right away, etc. Again, to Hawkins credit and what makes her such a treasure is that she writes to bring positivity and lightness into our lives. If you want death and despair and unnecessary drama look elsewhere, not on her watch, and for that I am truly grateful.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2017This book was a great story, but the real surprise was how it game me a better understanding of my"geeky" son! I love the insight on the games and the goal of moving forward to what you really desire!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2017This was a really cute read that is surround by RPG board games just little bit. Almost reminds me of "Critical Hit" (good story by the way if you've got time to read it). Both main characters come from some type of money but completely different home life. Definitely worth the read if you want somethinf cute, low angst, and just a little bit of dorky geeky-ness.

I enjoyed this geeky light romance between Tori Warren and Madeleine Ballard. It has family problems which Tori's grandmother caused years ago and is now trying to fix. There is life lessons and romance with mentions of Star Trek and Dragon Lance books which I loved.
I recommend this book if you want a book with a happy ever after ending and a story that is not too dark and heavy. Not every story has to be about the end of the world.
