    Review

“A thrilling, life-altering adventure that will keep readers riveted... Hibbert's rom-com stands out for its high stakes, distinctive heroine, and scorching hot romance. Their off-the-charts chemistry elevates this from cute romance to un-put-downable page-turner." - Publishers Weekly (starred review and Best Books of 2019)

“[An] incredibly funny, romantic, and uplifting book. Red is as charming, sexy, and vulnerable as can be, but Chloe steals the show with her sarcasm, wit, and eccentric coping mechanisms. Even better, Chloe is surrounded by a family of remarkable, glamorous women, including two sisters who will be featured in later installments... A revelation. Hilarious, heartfelt, and hot. Hibbert is a major talent.” - Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

“Will readers giggle at the cuteness of the banter and weep at the emotional truths that are thrown down as Chloe realizes it’s not her list that matters, and Red realizes Chloe is helping him get a life, too? Absolutely. Is this book what the word “charming” was invented for? Probably. This interracial romance with a disabled heroine is an #OwnVoices treat that will satisfy readers who love a cinnamon-roll hero and love scenes that scorch the dang pages. “ - Booklist (starred review)

“This stunning romance tackles important topics, such as living with disability and surviving emotional abuse, without ever getting bogged down in despair. Hibbert’s prose sparkles, and the heat is high...” - Library Journal (starred review)

“Absolutely charming. GET A LIFE, CHLOE BROWN is a flawless balance of humor, heat, sweetness, and depth, and I loved every page.” - Helen Hoang, USA Today bestselling author of The Kiss Quotient and The Bride Test

“Talia Hibbert is a rockstar! Her writing is smart, funny, and sexy, but most importantly, she'll make you fall in love with her sweetly imperfect characters, who are so real you’ll wish you could give them all a hug.” - Meg Cabot, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Little Bridge Island and Princess Diaries series

“GET A LIFE, CHLOE BROWN was one of my most anticipated books of 2019, and it delivered! Beautiful writing, laugh out loud funny, a truly unique and memorable hero and heroine and a romance that is raw, real and passionate. This goes on my permanent keeper shelf!” - Naima Simone, USA Today bestselling author

Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert was clever, sweet, sexy, and brilliant. It made me cry but in the best ways. Seeing a heroine with a similar disease to my own fall in love and be happy was everything.” - Carrie Ann Ryan, New York Times bestselling author

“With wit, biting humour and moments of extreme poignancy, Talia Hibbert brings to life a heroine whose courage and tenacity leaps off the page... Get A Life, Chloe Brown is funny, sexy, and intensely romantic, highly recommended for any contemporary romance reader, but especially for the many of us who, like Chloe, navigate life through the lens and under the weight of an invisible illness.” - Lucy Parker, author of The Austen Playbook

“I just finished GET A LIFE, CHLOE BROWN by Talia Hibbert. My heart is full, and my pants are full of pants feeling for one Triumph-riding, painter, ginger named Red. So so so so good.” - Andie J. Christopher, USA Today bestselling author of Not the Girl You Marry

“We guarantee at the end of Talia Hibbert’s latest, you’ll be swooning over the love story and inspired by Chloe to write your very own Get a Life list.” - Bookish

“I just finished and loved GET A LIFE, CHLOE BROWN... witty banter abounds and the ending was so emotional I almost cried! I can’t wait to read everything else Talia Hibbert writes.” - Kerry Winfrey, author of Waiting for Tom Hanks

“[An] awesome book, so full of heart and warmth and feels!” - Charlotte Stein, author of Never Sweeter

“A pure exuberant delight. I loved this book... It’s also hilarious—Chloe in particular has a gloriously sardonic perception of the world—and it bounces along, and it will just make you feel better. Exactly what a romance should be.” - KJ Charles, author of Proper English

    Such a Feel Good Story!
I absolutely adored this book! I love how we get both POVs for the main characters and we see all of their insecurities. The moment when they’re camping and she tells him not to count his decisions as nothing when he made them for healing hit me like an emotional brick. I just love their dynamic so much!! Absolutely recommend this book! I laughed, teared up, and smiled so much.

I wanted to read this book since I found out it had chronic illness representation in it. I love the author note at the beginning of the book.

Not gonna lie, the chronically ill fmc in this book is totally relatable to some, and I’m enjoying every moment of her inner thoughts. Red the superintendent/maintenance guy at the apartment is a sweet golden retriever of a guy and also tatted and bad boy vibes, but his actions are anything but.

The author's indication of the chronic illness and the effect of fibromyalgia in this story are spot on, and I think many can relate. So many things I’m highlighting in this story I can apply to my own life.

I live the red is making a bargain of sorts to help with Chloe’s list. This story is slow burn romance and it is so sweet with the interracial characters and the friendly interactions.

This book gets steamy as they get intimate, the interactions are hot but sweet. After a bit of happiness and contentment, then her world breaks yet again as this book gets dramatic, the friend-to-lovers with. The being damaged mcs and her having a chronic illness is soul shattering.

Even with some bumps in the road, this book ends sweetly, and I love the mature resolution to their overreaction.  I loved that the chronic illness was rep in the story was so amazing, and the characters as well. This book has a great moral to the story, too, despite the super steamy scenes.

To be honest, I was kind of dragging through this book. The style of her writing didn’t excite me at first; however, once I got into the heart of the story I couldn’t put it down!

FINAL DECISION: I loved this book. I was prepared to find it as dull as many of the cartoon-covered books that pass for romance these days but are really just women's fiction. This book was amazing. Chloe and Red spend almost the entire book talking to one another, getting to know each other, and working through their various problems. The book is sweet and sexy and funny and so mature and adult. I have not read Talia Hibbert before and I was clearly missing something.

THE STORY: Chloe Brown takes decides to "get a life" by taking on a number of initiatives, including moving out of her family's mansion, enjoying a drunken night out, riding a motorcycle, going camping, having meaningless but thoroughly enjoyable sex, traveling the world with nothing but hand luggage, and... doing something bad. Chloe takes on her goal of doing something bad by spying on her building's superintendent Red Morgan, who paints at night half-undressed. Red, at first, thinks that Chloe is stuck up, but as he gets to know her, Red is attracted to this woman who is brave in ways that he didn't expect. When Chloe asks him to help her complete her "get a life" list, Red cannot resist her.

OPINION: This book is simply charming, and yet it is not fluffy but rather has a substantial adult storyline. This is the story of two people who have been hurt by others having to learn to communicate with one another. While there are some rom-com funny moments, the book feels really real. In how Chloe and Red fight and hurt one another at times, it at times felt too real but so incredibly lovely in how things work out.

Both Chloe and Red are such good people. Such a book could be dull, but this book goes so deep into the relationship between these two that I as a reader was totally invested in how these two would find a happy ending together.

Chloe has fibromyalgia, lives with constant pain, and has learned to be in control as she goes through the world. Unrestrained action can lead Chloe to When Red meets her, he takes her control for being "stuck up" and thinking she is better than others. Red, himself, has been hurt by such a woman, and so he has his own guard up to protect himself. Chloe has been abandoned by others because of her disease, and so she worries about opening herself up to anyone -- friend or lover.

I loved that these two have wounds that the other person both reopens and also heals. The book is about relationships and community. There is a light gloss of Chloe's "get a life" list that she is trying to complete, but the story and her list are really about trying to create relationships, love, and community with others.

This book surprised me, and I read it so quickly because I wanted to know how these two wonderful people would work out the problems in their lives. By the end, everything is not perfect in the world, and yet a rock-solid relationship between Chloe and Red is obvious.

WORTH MENTIONING: This is a plot light book. It is really about Chloe and Red's relationship -- and a cat.

CONNECTED BOOKS: GET A LIFE, CHLOE BROWN is the first book in the Brown Sisters series.

STAR RATING: I give this book 5 stars.

      This was cute!

I was a bit quick to judge at 30%, but then I’m glad to say I was proven wrong and I ended up thoroughly enjoying this! I even teared up a little for the third act break up 🥺

I adored Chloe, she and I would have been great friends. I also love that neither of them minimized each other’s trauma and hurts. There were miscommunications, but it wasn’t one that dragged out the whole time, but rather more situation based?? And it was built on their trauma.

I also liked that Red’s backstory also showcased that abused can be the other way around too. Female aggressor.

Overall, I liked it! Looking forward to Dani’s book!!

Made me smile and laugh unexpectedly- not an easy feat.
Took a few chapters to warm up to the characters - the main character could have had a bit more development beyond symptoms to begin with.

@Taliahibbert is a new author for us. We were lucky to receive an ARC of ‘Take A Hint, Dani Brown’ which is out next week on the 23rd of June. While these novels can be read as standalones I wanted to read this one first as it’s the first in the series.⁣ ⁣
‘Get a life, Chloe Brown’, as the title suggests is all about Chloe Brown taking back control of her own life. Living with a chronic illness has made Chloe a shell of her former self, always worrying that she might fall short of expectations of her peers and friends. She writes a bucket lists of random experiences to help her get back on track, living life to the fullest.⁣ ⁣
I had listened to a couple of reviews on booktube about Dani’s book and was expecting to like it but I have to admit I loved it! As always going in to a new author I’m not sure if I’ll take a while to settle into the style or flow but for me with this book it was love at first word. I immediately took to Chloe. She’s a very relatable character and I found it very easy to read her point of view. I was thrilled to discover that the other main character – Red – also narrates throughout – I do enjoy a dual POV.⁣ ⁣
I found this to be a real page turner and every so often I’d check to see how much I had left and although I seemed to be flying through the story I was always pleased to see I hadn’t read as much as I’d thought!⁣ ⁣
This has everything you could ask for – romance, comedy and a substantial serving of steamy scenes. Alongside all of that the author tackles chronic illness, body positivity and mental health issues.⁣ ⁣
I can’t wait to get stuck into the next book!

This was a cute and fun read! I don't usually go for romances but I'm happy I decided to give this a try - the characters are well developed, the banter is good and well paced. I didn't give it 5 stars only because of an angsty situation I thought was not necessary and felt a bit out of place; still, a very good book!

my only issue with this book was the pacing, it was really weird. i felt like it was going too fast and yet that it was taking forever to move on.
other than that i loved it.
i adored the message it sent. very healthy content.

i wrote this small review in June and, to this day, i'm still thinking about the book. It's a memorable one and you will not regret picking it up.
