I was always told growing up in my family, surrounded by magic, that I was a dud. I had no power except the ability to talk to ghosts. It never bothered me because I enjoyed my job as a bartender at my Uncle's bar that caters to the supernatural community. I spend my nights working and getting to flirt with my crush.

Then one night, my life turned upside down. Someone was murdered right around the corner and suddenly a hot wizard detective with a perfect bubble butt from MEPA, The Magical Entity Protection Agency, swooped in and asked for my help with the victims' ghosts. Working with the detective soon leads to a race to stop a killer who is bent on exposing the supernatural community to humans with more deaths.

Join Victoria on her journey as she works to stop an evil being with the help from her crush Akira the werewolf, Lucian the wizard, and her ex-boyfriend Shax.

    Fun, quirky MC. I liked the overall story arc. Vic is quirky, and I liked that while she is considered, even by herself, to be a dud, she doesn’t let people push her around. She is a bartender for her uncle, who is alpha of a wolf pack. I liked Akira, Lucian, and Shax individually, but thought the romance, particularity with Lucian happens too fast. There was history with Akira, but with Lucian it felt more like lust than love to me. Shax is intriguing, and I’m curious about his secrets. I liked this story and was invested enough in the characters, that I will be checking out book 2.

    Side note: This is a poly and has MM in it.

    SEX. There's a lot of it. You know those books that start you out on that sexual journey between your two favorite characters, and just as it starts getting good, the chapter ends? THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE BOOKS, MY FRIENDS. My morning commute certainly got a lot more exciting, and when you're squeezed between two fellow bus-goers in the front seats and you're flipping through ebook pages, minding your business, getting lost in the story, then comes this hot and steamy sex scene that that you weren't expecting, and it DOESN'T stop right as it starts to get good... you start becoming VERY aware of your real life surroundings. Did it stop me? Heck no! But I still recommend you read this book at home. In your pajamas. With wine. 🤤🍷

    I loved the premise and the characters were cool. The story line was intriguing and although there was sex it didn’t take away from the case solving. I wasn’t sold on the dynamic. I have read a lot of RH... aaaallllloooot. So the didn’t set me off. I do like m/m interaction, it’s hot and I always feel like it makes things more equal. Though, I thought the description said it was a medium burn... definitely a fast burn. The relationships are on turbo speed. I didn’t like how the first couple got together after years of friendship and then all of a sudden they added another to the dynamic. There is a huge difference between a friendship and a relationship and this just didn’t bridge the gap very well. Then all of a sudden she loves Lucian... I hate it when stories are written like this.. like her heart is in her vagina. I mean there is definite lust all around.. but love..meh, I don’t see it yet. I also didn’t feel like the communication between, well, anybody flowed well in this book. It came off as blocky and inauthentic. The pictures while artistic, well done and interesting in abstract, were also distracting and unnecessary. But it is the first book and if the story line, characters and the sex is good enough I always give the series more time. So I can’t wait to read the next book.

    This book was not bad. It didn't suck me in the way some books do, but it was entertaining. My biggest issues were that it lacked the emotional depth. For example, the fmc was saying "I love you" to the guy she met literally 2 days ago and when her lover "died", she barely reacted. Neither scenario was believable. I will continue th series, but hope book 2 can create more of an emotional response in the characters.
