Golden Shana: The Chase Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 10 ratings

An evening at the La Scala in Milan twirls the lives of five people into a web of rivalry, intrigues, heartaches, obsession, murder, loss, and revenge.

“… for those who love selective eroticism with substance. An exciting and sophisticated erotic thriller for the astute romance reader, woman or man.”

Love, a word Roman can hardly spell, hits him when he sees Shana one evening. She’s the first woman not dropping to her knees at his mere presence. Used to getting whatever he wants, he chases her. Only to discovers that she prefers the girls. Roman can’t let that deter him. But is he for once up against his own comeuppance? At any rate, he needs assistance, which comes in the form of Alyssa, Shana’s BFF. Trouble crops up when Alyssa is all too ready and willing to drop on her knees for him. Roman can't get anywhere near Shana on his own. Would he start anything with Alyssa as long as this finally leads him to meet Shana in person?

Then there’s Marie, his current companion who has a life-changing surprise for him.

Roman: I never chased after a woman. Then I caught a glimpse of the woman I would kneel for, but didn’t even know her name. Heck, I determined to find her if it took me the rest of my life.

Shana: He stood in the room with her. The frisson in the currents freaking between them knocked her senseless. The mutual force of predator and prey, blasting into her core ... her soul ... Danger. Keep far away from him.

Publisher’s Note:
GOLDEN SHANA SERIES love story contains adult language and steamy sex, but has nothing to do with hardcore BDSM and graphic violence as content. The series contains an original, intriguing story, with elements of crime thriller suspense woven in the complicated relationship between Shana Lindqvist and Roman Castell, with the HEA in the last book of the series.

LITERARY TITANIC *****A.P Von K'ory's Golden Shana: The Chase is not an ordinary romance novel. While the book's main character,Roman, is a billionaire, that is not all there is to him. Unlike manyother books of this genre, this story's character has surprising depthto him and builds a fascinating personality beyond his money. Yes, he is dashingly handsome and is known as a ladies' man, but he is alsostraightforward with every woman he gets involved with. He is clearabout what he wants and never cheats. He is honest about who he is - the good, the bad, and the ugly.

At the beginning of the book, he is withMarie - a beautiful young woman who feels more for Roman than the usuallust. But sooner than later, his sights are set elsewhere, taking us on a journey that is the main premise of the book. As Roman pursues his newlove interest, we get insights into her life as well, particularly thestate of her romantic relationships. She is different from the womenRoman has been with before. She doesn't latch onto him immediately nordoes she seem to be swayed by his good looks. She has her own ambitions, has money of her own, and is living a private life. And she doesn'tlike to be ordered around. More importantly, she is dealing with somedeep trauma that makes her wary of men.

As we read from chapter to chapter, it is easy to root for her and even hope that Roman doesn't manage to pullher into his whirlwind of a life. If there is one thing the author hasdone well though, it is to seamlessly give us the perspectives of thedifferent characters without divulging too much. By using flashbacks, the author has allowed characters to tell us their backstories withoutit feeling like the story has an extra narrator looking in. And sincethe story is in the third person, there is some uniformity despite thejumps we take between characters. Also, the book's ending isunpredictable and there are enough steamy scenes to last you a lifetime.

Golden Shana: The Chase is analluring romance novel with seductive characters and sultry drama. Fansof erotic romance will haven plenty to enjoy in this riveting novel.

"Was it love I was feeling for Svadishana? A woman I'd spoken three whiny words 'please call me' to? Was it more than simple lust and desire? Did I want to possess more than her body? Pondering these questions alone was so unlike me."

A P Von K'Ory combines eroticism and romance brilliantly in her thrilling story rotating around Roman a fiercely independent and ladies man who values his single status above anything else but not until he finds himself entangled between three women, Marie who is expecting his first child, Shana who he falls deeply in love with and Alyssa who falls in love with him!
This story was well thought out and incredibly written throughout. A credit to the author.

There is never a dull moment in this steamy exotic romance. Between the sultry bedroom scenes and the suspenseful action, you won't be able to put the book down. The story is well-written, descriptive. The dialogue seems natural and the characters really come to life.
I obtained my complimentary copy in exchange for a fair, honest review.

With his impeccable style, muscular physique, chiseled features and hypnotic blue eyes, Roman Alastair Northcott Broughton Castell is drop-dead gorgeous. He’s also the billionaire CEO of a worldwide logistics company, built from the ground up through his intelligence and hard work. With charm, guile, expensive gifts and judiciously bestowed carnal pleasure, Roman believes he can conquer any woman, but he’s determined not to commit to anyone. When a female takes his fancy, he pursues her relentlessly. Once she’s fallen into his net, he requires her to sign a contract acknowledging the no-strings nature of their relationship. According to his standard agreement, either one can terminate the connection at any time. Somehow it’s always Roman who grows bored and seeks out a new diversion.

Then one night at the La Scala opera house in Milan, everything changes. As Roman escorts his lovely, curvaceous current lady Marie to a performance of “Turandot”, he catches sight of a honey-haired goddess of a woman who strikes him dumb with desire and need. His charm deserts him; he’s hopelessly befuddled by the stranger’s elegant poise. As she drives away in her limo with her friends, however, he vows he will win her, no matter what the price.

You probably think you know this story, yet another installment in the endless series of billionaire romances that litter the pages of Amazon. If that’s what’s going through your mind, though, you’re wrong. Aside from its classic, overwhelmingly alpha hero, Golden Shana: The Chase is refreshingly original. The relationships are far more tangled than in the typical romance, and the story much less predictable.

Shana, the mysterious stranger, might well be more alpha than Roman. Raped by her boyfriend when she was a teen, she has no interest in sexual relations with men, though she acts the dominant role in her lesbian love affair with close childhood friend Alyssa. She puts Roman in his place, making it clear that she will not necessarily surrender to him just because that is what he demands.

Discarded by Roman as he sets off to pursue Shana, Marie serenely believes that her love for him, plus his baby which she’s carrying, will ultimately bring him back to her.

Meanwhile, the rapist, despite being tortured and left for dead by Shana’s family, has somehow survived. Having constructed a new identity, the Phoenix (as he calls himself) is obsessed with reclaiming His Girl.

The book is set in Europe – Hamburg, Geneva, Montreux, Milan – and the author obviously knows these places well. All the characters are wealthy, so they spend their time in elegant restaurants, exclusive spas, glittering shops and upscale malls, in galleries and at the opera. Nevertheless, this glamorous world struck me as far more believable than the settings in most books in the billionaire genre. For one thing, the rich characters actually work for a living, to maintain and enhance their status. For another, there are gradations of wealth. Roman’s security major domo Robert is rich in his own right, though far less well off than Roman. Meanwhile the resources of Shana’s extended family dwarf Roman’s own, and he feels correspondingly chastened.

As alpha as he is, Roman is no cardboard cutout Dom. He’s self-centered, but generous and mostly honest. He doesn’t promise what he can’t or won’t give. He deeply loves his mother, detests his half-siblings, respects the competent minions with whom he has surrounded himself. He can be cruel, but that’s not his fundamental nature. He is, despite his usual self-confidence, only twenty nine, and sometimes he acts his age.

Unlike most romance, this book really focuses on the male protagonist, not the female. The book might, somewhat facetiously, be titled “The Dom’s Come-uppance”. The author convincingly portrays Roman’s confusion and attempts to adapt when the sudden cataclysm of love at first sight shatters his world and calls all his assumptions into question.

From one chapter to the next, the novel adopts the point of view of various characters, but only Roman’s chapters are presented in the first person. As he struggles to understand and accept his love for Shana, and plots what to do about it, one almost feels sympathy.

Almost. I know every author loves her own characters, but I couldn’t bring myself to really like Roman. He’s just too arrogant and selfish for me. In particular, I fumed at the way he treats Marie after she reveals that she’s pregnant. If I were she, I would have thrown his contracts in his face and gotten a restraining order. I couldn’t believe she’d accede to his demeaning demands.

Likewise, I found Alyssa’s infatuation with the billionaire inexplicable, given the way he manipulates and uses her.

But that’s not a criticism of the novel itself. Despite my frustration with Roman, I continued to read, eager to discover what would happen next. The book has a hopeful ending (from Roman’s perspective) but is by no means HEA. Meanwhile, threats lie in wait (particularly in the person of the Phoenix), threats that Roman will clearly have to confront.

Golden Shana: The Chase is competently written, but it bears the hallmarks of a relatively inexperienced author – an excess of passion, with occasional lapses of craft. It seems that unlike me, A P von K’Ory really does love Roman.

The structure is uneven, with characters disappearing for many chapters, then suddenly popping up again. The first half of the book includes some intensely arousing sex scenes. I realized to my surprise that the second half of the book contains almost no sex at all. I say surprised because I didn’t miss it. I was too involved in the story.

Given my fascination with BDSM relationships, that’s a compliment.

In fact, I’m tempted to get a copy of the second half of the story (Golden Shana: The Capture), just to see how things play out.

Golden Shana, The Chase by A P Von K’ory

As much as I would love to say I liked this book, every author deserves an honest review.

While I have read books before that have challenged me, I have always finished them. Until now.

This book begins with someone being held against their will and tormented. The author doesn't name this person, so I'm not even sure who they are writing about.

Then the story jumps to Roman, a millionaire playboy of sorts.
At a night at the opera he sees what he describes as his ideal woman. He has no idea who she is, but he will find out one way or another.

When he does find out who she is, he flies half way across the world to see her.

And that’s all I read. I found the book dragged on with not very much to hold my interest.

It wouldn't be fair to rate the book as it is a DNF.

This was a different story than I usually read. It was steamy and quite drawn out. Roman was quite a bit of a manwhore but he caught a glimpse of his future and decided to track her down. Shana had ignored him from the start. The majority of the story seemed more focused on his obsession with Shana and keeping his current girl with him. This was quite a long story and there are still four more books in the series.

I received a copy of this story through Goddess Fish Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.

wow, an epic write of worth an note this is superbly written, the words
'SOME MEN WERE BORN TO rule the world; others were born to ruin it.' could be a phrase that is quote throughout history. I am so impressed with your skill at writing you write with immense vivacity and you create work of amazing depth and interest. well done. Meia (MESAYERS)

I enjoyed reading this and you write erotica very well. The writing itself is engaging and flows nicely with strong characters. However, it would be great if you could edit it to make it easier to read- line spaces in between characters.

Wow, you really have a great way of pulling the reader into the story quickly and efficiently. You know how to grab the reader's imagination and leave the reader wanting more. Comment Written 07-Feb-2017 by DonandVicki

I thought this is well written. You may want to edit it and remove the funny characters from the text. Outside of that this was excellent. The dialogue was strong. The chemistry of the characters is starting to come through. But terrific. by Michael Ludwinder II

The mixed genre of thriller/romance/erotica pulls readers in certainly for me! I find I am rooting for Marie. I cannot explain why, I just am, I would need to read the whole book for an absolute decision but your are very skillful and clever at what you do and should not doubt yourself your work is really fantastic enjoyed so much love.

Excellent. I like this book better than the one by you that I read previously today. this story is invigorating and interesting. You take the reader inside the characters head and make us feel what he feels. This is an art and I admire you for it. Good work. by prettybluebirds

A mark of any good mystery is it poses questions for the reader to find the answers to as the narrative unfolds. This excerpt from your book did just that. It was intriguing enough to make me want more. by judsmith

Roman sounds like a rather determined man. His longing to find his Turandot, seems to be clouding his mind, along with his lustful desire to have sex with Alyssa. Quite an interesting chap. Thesis

Since this is the first of your story that I have read some things are unclear. However, I didn't notice grammar or punctuation problems and I found it an interesting piece. It is a work I would continue to read as my interest has been aroused. by ChristmasCarol

An interesting story about a man on the prowl. The tension builds and there is a tremendous hook at the end to find out what happens. This is a good tale. by Winslow

Your story has a strong plot and darned good imagery like this for instance: "his face twisted in primal unfettered rage. Sweat poured down his face and body. He balled his fist tight and hit it on the mattress several times. In savage rapid movements. Bolts of pain stabbed his skull. His heart palpitated and images from his nightmares flashed before his eyes." (I can see this image)

Also: "He was barely alive then, with a bullet lodged near his heart and his skull cracked. Both his legs were broken as was his pelvis and one arm. The breakages occurred when he hit the boiling Pacific water as his body fell from the promontory after he was shot.

Admittedly I hurt many of the women emotionally when they wanted more from me than I was prepared to give. I regretted their being hurt, but I wanted no marriage, children, and happily ever after. I made that clear from the start. I didn't want to be restricted, constrained, and bound to a permanent relationship. I'd been accused of being incapable of such a bond, but to me the accusation sounded more like praise. A standing ovation. I wanted a sex life with no norms and confines. It confirmed my staunch belief in my independence which I valued highly. That was the structure of my being and I saw no reason to ponder the whats, wheres, whens, whys, and hows.
I was who I was, full stop. Nothing was about to change that.
    But a hunter hunts.
So here I was, fanatically chasing after Svadishana because apart from the infernos, it was a challenge I'd never had with any other woman. ' This is where your writing stands out for me, because not only do you write with a perfect flow your characters are 100 realistic, even if the life they live is not realistic t the average person, the backstory seems real, it all seems real and very clever. I have known men like this. Well done as always you are a hell of a writer. by MESAYERS

I tried to come up with some constructive criticism but I think you have done a superb job on this story. You pulled me in with your opening line. by DonandVicki

I found his reaction classic, fear fused with anger but contained by confusion and care, for Marie and the potential baby. I'm thinking 9 months is a very long time with so many possibilities, so many crossroads. You my friend are more than capable of plotting a roller-coaster ride to the finish post. by Hitcher

I tried to come up with some constructive criticism but I think you have done a superb job on this story. You pulled me in with your opening line. Comment Written 25-Mar-2017 by DonandVicki

Excellent. It is well written, like most of your stories, and I enjoyed reading it. by prettybluebirds

A good story has conflict and suspense. With Roman searching for Shana you certainly have suspense. With Marie you have conflict
There is definitely a battle of wills brewing
Good stuff here. Looks like you threw in a couple of curve balls here.
I got of got the suspicion that the other lover was a woman.
    That should make things interesting.
Roman most assuredly has his hands full.
    Great writing! by mbroyles2

A very good continuation. Sounds like an on again off again romance. They can't get enough of each other until they do. Excellent writing style. by Thomas Bowling

Exceptional. I just love the intelligent dialogue between the ladies in this. It's so smart and fun. This is how people that have brains speak, wit and cleverness and candor as well. Very sensual and realistic and an easy read too. I have very little time here at the moment. But I've tried to sneak some reading in and wanted to at least get an occasional review.
Really exceptional in every way. Loved it. by michaelcahill

I could give at least six stars for this. You definitely know your way around all things erotic friend, strap on dildos, deep penetration, girl on girl. Your sex scene reminded me of the one of the scenes from the classic and very erotic Red Shoe Diaries. I used to watch them with my now wife back in the day. I can't promise I'll review all your chapters but I can promise that I will pop in and read you and yours when ever I can.
For the sexual content alone I'm gonna six you up ; )
I'd say Marie's chances of winning Roman back have to be slim. They had an agreement to f*ck each other however and whenever they choose to without laying claim to each other. He I'm guessing is a player and loves his decadent lifestyle, I can see why he would be pissed. That said, he could possibly have the chance of becoming a father... hard to say what he'll do till he knows for sure. by Hitcher

Good , smooth writing style. I like how you present the characters, build their identity, and then create an interaction between them that has a sense of urgency. An electric passion in the air.
You handle the passion and sexual energy in a tasteful and appropriate manner/
    Keep writing!
Oh, I also meant to tell you on my other review that the image is spectacular.
This image is also appropriate and tasteful. by Badger_29

    Exceptional

I thought that you did a great job with this. Exceptional how you stirred up emotion and conflict, making the reader choose a side.
Here are some corrections that I would make:
She dropped the phone on her coffee table, trying to smother his voice, still pounding in her brains. She leant back in her sofa with a heavy sigh, willing his voice away. Closed her eyes. No use. His voice continued in her mind, loud, deep and resonant, threatening to blow her head into tiny little fragments.
I love how you have used the British form, seldom used:
    leant: verb, Chiefly British.
    1. a past participle and simple past tense of lean1.
This gives a nice sense that I am reading something eccentric, or unusual.
"Wagnerian bass score"; elegant. Your reference to to Giacomo Puccini"s Turandot
is superb. You have included some fine history about wine, making this an enjoyable read. Something from the
    "Upper Crust" of society
If I had any other suggestions, it would be to describe more sensory data, what color was the dress? How did the wine taste? What was the memory of the aroma of the expensive cologne that he wore?
Great writing, I am looking forward to more. Bill

I found this to be very complex in story-line. The characterizations are very strong and the writing skills are clearly very good on the quality of the writing style....which I found to be really excellent. by His Grayness

This had everything in it. Seduction, (loads of) romance, fear, intrigue and jealousy. Roman is every woman's dream man, he's handsome, rich, and very sexy. He doesn't want to get tied down with one woman until across a crowded foyer he spots the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen. He had to have her. Already in a relationship that has outlasted most, a woman who is pregnant with his first child and who will do anything to keep him, his easy going life is suddenly thrown into turmoil This is an incredibly well written book that takes you through a series of different emotions. You have to read the book, it's one you won't want to put down, and best of all, there are more books in this series! Superb!
