The Maverick Meets His Match (Hearts of Wyoming Book 2) Kindle Edition
Rodeos, wedding bells, and one crazy will!
For love…
When Mandy Prescott’s grandfather dies, this determined cowgirl expects to head up the family’s rodeo company. But JM Prescott’s last will not only gives that honor to Ty Martin, a man who broke Mandy’s heart a decade ago, it contains a crazy provision: to take back control, she must agree to marry Ty Martin for a period of six months. Mandy has three days to decide—marry a man she doesn’t trust but is still attracted to, or risk her company being sold. Risking her company is one thing. Risking her heart is another.
For money…
Maverick lawyer Ty Martin measures success in dollars and cents. He’s promised JM Prescott to base his decision to keep or sell the company on that yardstick. Only now he’s presented with an intriguing bonus: a six-month, commitment-free relationship with a woman he’s always desired. Ty’s certain he’s up to both challenges.
Forever?
But, when it comes to this feisty cowgirl, has this maverick met his match?

- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2017Other than the title, I thought this book was great. Mandy's grandfather has been training her to run a rodeo supply business. When he dies instead of leaving the business to her, he leaves a man in charge who broke her heart years ago. He's the "maverick" however he didn't fit my idea of a traditional cowboy maverick which is why I don't like the title. Ty is supposed to evaluate the business and determine if it's successful enough to provide for Mandy's family for years or if it would be better to sell it. He has up to two years to do this unless Mandy marries him. If she does he only has six months. The story is about both of them figuring out how to best secure their family's future. Does that mean money or relationships?
I liked the character development and other characters in the story and liked the way things were resolved. Can you fall in love when you're at odds over the future? And, if you do, what can be done to secure your future? I cared about Ty and Mandy and was rooting for them to figure things out.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2016Out of my vast kindle library repertoire I really don’t have any western romances on there. Now it’s not to say that I don’t like them or it isn’t in my usually genre I read I don’t really have a particular genre since I pretty much read everything. This book just intrigued me making me select it for the kindle scout program and I am glad that I selected it because it really is quite good! The book had a pretty exciting plot with crazy twists, wonderful major/minor characters that I really want to know more about and quite knowledgeable facts about the rodeo lifestyle that kept me entrenched and interested in the story.
Mandy Prescott’s world has been turned upside down after losing her beloved grandfather she is about to lose her rodeo company to Ty Martin a guy she hasn’t seen in ten years a guy who broke her heart and is now going to take away Mandy’s lifeblood. Unfortunately for Mandy and Ty in her grandfather’s will is a clause to solve both their dilemmas for both Mandy and Ty to get married for six months. Can both Mandy and Ty survive the six month wedding, being business partners and not fall in love in the process in order to walk away after six months with their heads and hearts intact?
***Minor Spoilers***
In the beginning I was pretty apprehensive of liking Ty I don’t like lawyers and I was thinking he was going to be underhanded stealing Mandy’s company underneath her nose. Yes he did have feelings for her in the past but I think he seemed a little too upset with her then again I did have a hard time understanding his motivations. I was also drooling about what I kept imagining him to look like. I admired Mandy for holding out as long as she did because that is a very hard thing to resist not doing anything to a hot naked guy in bed. I did like the slow progression of Mandy and Ty’s love though. For some reason I really liked Mandy and wanted to get together with her at the café telling her everything was going to be okay. She just seemed like such a cool person and had some wonderful friends too. I did wonder what happened to Kendall though. I was shocked a little by her behavior and that she wasn’t going to do anything to Mandy but maybe it was just all about sex with her. I also hope that Trace and Tucker finds someone but it seems as if Ms. Carrole did make mention of that so maybe we aren’t entirely done with the rest of characters stories. I do know that she is an author that I will have to look for plus that I most definitely have to add and will have to get more of her books too!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2024A beautiful story painted on the canvas of rodeos and the cattle supply companies that make them successful. Success and financial
strength are weighed against the importance of family, relationships, and sacrificial love.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2017This story gave us an insight into the workings of the rodeo world while being a beautiful love story. It was very well written and flowed very smoothly throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed Mandy & Ty`s story. The author made them feel like old friends that you were pulling for. I wish their story could go on for a while longer -- I'm anxious to see how their life settles down as a true family with a new baby!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2024I liked this story but I don’t like extra filler to make the story longer. I felt like this book had way too much detail.

This is my first book by this author and I believe this is book 2 of a series. This book works as a stand-alone. I did not feel like I had missed anything in the story.
This book, Mandy in particular, irked me. She was a strong female lead, but very insecure. Mandy was going through a hard time dealing with the passing of her grandfather and potential loss of the family business. I saw the wisdom of the grandfather trying to protect Mandy in a male dominated field. The present relationship with Ty wrestled with 10 years of assumptions, most were false, hurt, and an unhealthy dose of not communicating. When she latched onto an idea, it was repeated until the very end of the book. Ty's character was not as bad about this. The author constantly reminded us of Mandy's distrust for Ty. Everything Ty did was to ultimately strip Mandy of everything, in her mind anyway. Super irritating.
I had to push myself to read this because Mandy irritated me so much, though there were many times her character would shine brightly. I understand the author's emphasis, but still, isn't there another way to show this without bashing me over the head with it constantly?
Despite the above, I liked how the characters began to grow, many times without seeing the growth themselves. The setting seemed beautiful and made me want to see it. I liked the details explaining how Mandy ran the rodeo. The author either knows a lot about ranching and rodeos or did great research. I also liked ty he emphasis of family and support.
The book was an easy read with a steady flow. I don't recall many errors, if any at all. There is adult language, but you will not feel as though you are being cussed at. There are adult situations that may make you blush.
I still recommend you giving this a try, though it seems my review isn't stellar. It wasn't a bad book and it is wrapped up nicely. You may find you enjoy it.
