Lacked background research
Not a horrible tale, but does read like it’s her first attempt at writing a novel. Lots of errors of characterization — the heroine teaches at a college, yet is described in ways that make her seem more like a middle school teacher. The hero blows off his contractual obligations without penalty, and at one point is beaten so badly that he’s still unconscious two hours later? That would result in some serious brain damage. Relies too much on Hollywood stereotypes which make the characters a bit flat.
