3.5 out of 5 stars 1,715 ratings

‘One of the funniest books I've ever read. It made me cry with laughter. I highly, highly recommend it to anyone looking for a complete gigglefest of a read!’ Kirsty Greenwood

Izzy Harris should have it all – but her boyfriend has been ignoring her for months, she’s been overlooked for a promotion, and the owner of her local coffee shop pervs on her every time she has a craving for a salted caramel muffin.

Then an unexpected turn of events gives her the boost she needed.

Suddenly Izzy has the confidence to do all the things she’s never dared: dump her oblivious boyfriend, turn the tables on catcallers, and put herself forward for a big pitch at work. Having to work closely with gorgeous colleague
Alex is just an added perk…

But then her best friend has her heart broken, the pitch is way more complicated than expected, and Alex is keeping secrets. Does Izzy have what it takes to help her friend, save her career and get the guy?

A funny, feel-good read about finding yourself – and love – when you least expect it, for fans of The List, Just Haven’t Met You Yet, and Hot Mess.

I couldn't resist the pun in the title, as the main character becomes invisible as a metaphor made real. This is a fun story, with a life lesson or two, a bit of social commentary, and a happy ending.
There is a significant amount of sex talk and crude language, as there is in the world around us. If that offends you, you should skip this book. If not, I highly recommend it. The pace is good, the editing polished. I read the entire book non-stop in one sitting.
This is the first book I've read from this author, but I am definitely looking forward to reading more. Anyone who can casually drop a My Little Pony reference in the middle of a story with graphic sex scenes has my vote!

I was really turned off by the foul language and explicit sex right at the start and stopped reading it street only a few pages. I only read more of it because I was stuck somewhere for hours with only this book on my phone. As I read on I was laughing out loud. It's hilarious and engaging with a good plot. So, despite the language this book is worth reading as long as you can get past the language.

I’m a boomer so these people are only a bit older than my granddaughter. The way they conduct relationships is so casual. Have a boyfriend but go out with other men. The interest in the bad boys. Acknowledging that walking The sidewalks of London after dark can be dangerous for women. The humor is really necessary as a survival mechanism. It’s really hard to find an tiny apartment without a partner, and then you’re trapped with that person. I’m glad I read it because we need to understand they can’t have the things we took for granted so they spend money on coffees and bar drinking.

What a loser. I am surprised that the publisher would print this trash. It is silly and full of obscene language and literal sex. There is no "laugh out loud" humor. Do so many of the twenty-something women in London talk this way, with every few words either the f-word or the sh-word? This book sets a poor example for young readers because of the vulgar language, the excessive drinking, and girls with casual sex activity as portrayed in this book. I'm not interested in another book by Keris Stanton. What a disappointment!

I can't get past all the 'f' ing and the 's' ing. and fingers getting soiled by putting them in orfices where they don't belong. I really got sold a bill of goods on this one. It was presented in a similar fashion to the other romantic English comedys I bought here. They were nearly innocent compared to this one. I may have resort to reading the free sample before buying.

This is the first Keris Stainton book I read. Keris, you have the touch, the one I look for in each author I read. Sadly, I don't find what I'm looking for with most authors, but you renewed my faith in authors who innately have what it takes. I will continue reading all your books. Thanks for your smart, fun well-executed talent. It's not easy - I know. I'm almost finished with my fourth book...the other three were published. But we never know whether THIS ONE will make it. That's supposed to keep us on our toes, but it also keeps us discouraged. Your writing is an inspiration to me. Thank you!

The plot was phantasmagoric at times, but very thought-provoking on the topic of women and body image, and how we see people as they look rather than how they are. Many a nice turn of phrase if you are a "wordie" rather than a "foodie."

A pacy, funny read with an original twist in the tale. Keris Stainton delivers the goods effortlessly in this more than a romance that manages to be sexy, empowering and totally satisfying. I was reminded as I read of one of my favourite teenage books Freaky Friday. It has the same kind of engaging wish fulfilment to it that worked for me then and still works for me now

4.0 out of 5 stars Contains "fantasy" elements, but liked the writing style
Reviewed in Germany on August 17, 2020
I liked the overall message of the book. It addresses many problems in our society, such as violence of men against women. I bought the book after having read the sample, hoping it'll be a story on the personal development of a young woman who's always felt invisible, and not strong enough to face a (in many aspects) men-dominated world.
Instead, the book suddenly took a turn, and mixed rom com with elements of the fantasy genre. Through this baseline, the main character does undergo personal development, but none that would be possible in real life.

Feel like a lot of potential to tell a meaningful story has been wasted in this book in order to tell a fantasy story.

4 stars though, as I liked the writing, and I liked the overall tone of the book that does not reduce women to liking shoes, and searching for a rich entrepreneur as so many other rom coms do.

4.0 out of 5 stars All isn't as it appears!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 6, 2017
This is a very well-written book and is pacey enough to keep you reading - I read this in a day and it would be the perfect novel to take to a beach. I also found it funny. Often books that are described as 'laugh out loud' are nothing of the kind!

I'm sure that there are many who would disagree with me but I hated Tash. That's no reflection on the writing but she came across as abrasive, shallow and sex-obsessed. I don't have any friends like this so it's probably why I struggled with the character and couldn't relate. However, it's a testament to the writer that I still kept reading and wanted to find out what happened to Izzy.

It was nice to see how Izzy found herself throughout the book but I would've loved a meatier storyline. It will be a wake-up call to a lot of readers to realise just how much their routine is based on the simple fact that they're female: the places/people/situations they avoid just because of who they are. It's almost instinctive and, until someone points it out, you barely notice you're doing it. Perhaps this is a book for young adults - I'd say 'tone down the sex' but that's exactly what teens want to read, whatever their teachers or parents think!

An easy read that might make you see things differently.
