Evie Alexander does an amazing job of creating well rounded characters with relatable stories. Perhaps best of all though she seems to have mastered the art of comedic situations. Because this book is full of them. Not to mention she made Charlie a heavily tattooed bada**. The dragon tattoo (if you know you know) made for the perfect element in this story.


Seriously, if you want a book that is hard to put down, super cute, and full of all kinds of drama and humor then you need to check this one out because it checks all those boxes and then some.

My heart just feels so full after reading this book! It's the kind of book that leaves you with a smile, and while it has the author's particular brand of crazy hilariousness throughout, it also has its poignant emotional moments too. I thought it didn't get much better than Rory and Zoe and their two books, but I just might have to say that Charlie and Valentina are my new favorite!


Being back in Kinloch felt like being home, and although most of it takes place during the time that Hollywood Games takes place, it is definitely a good standalone and it was fun to see the events from the movie set from a completely different perspective. This might just be Evie's most incredible book yet, and combined with the laughs, some tears, and Valentina's amazing family, this is a book that I never wanted to end.

I love rom coms and this one was even better because Charlie, the protagonist, is both an alpha male and a teddy bear. He has all the descriptions of a bad boy, having done some bad things, been in the army and has tattoos, but when it comes down to it, he's such a softie. And Valentina is a beautiful movie star that is humble, insecure and sweet. We get both of their POVs as we root for them to get together.


There is also a great supporting cast of characters that made me also smile since they are truly one of a kind. And there are not one but two dogs that are part of the supporting cast of characters. And of course it is spicy. Don't let the cute cover fool you. And spice with a couple you are rooting for is the best.

I loved so many aspects of this book! A few faves...The jar of fun challenges to choose from, Charlie's quirky hobby, and Valentina's grandmothers!


This book is the lighthearted fun the world needs right now! It had me laughing out loud, rooting for love, and feeling all the feels.

Evie Alexander does a phenomenal job of balancing humor with emotional angst. Expect crazy hijinks from the albeit temporary residents of Kinloch Castle. How Rory -- the male character in the previous books in this series -- has not picked them up by their collar and tossed them off the grounds is a testament to his patience.     This was a cute and sexy contemporary romance set in the Scottish Highlands. Charlie left the army for his married girlfriend, who eventually dumped him for her husband. He's estranged from his family, floundering at his new job and decides to head to the Highlands to help his best friend protect Kinloch castle from a crazy film crew. The last thing he needs or wants is a romantic entanglement.

    Valentina is a child star with her entire family depending on her. Despite her gorgeous looks and talent, she doesn't feel like she's really lived. Arriving in Scotland to film a movie, the last thing she wants is any complications. When Charlie and Valentina meet, the sparks fly. Charlie suggests Valentina capture her teenager years by partaking in some teenage rights of passage, like writing a bad love poem, skinny dipping and staying up all night to watch the sunrise. Valentina eagerly agrees and the more the couple get to know each other, the more the chemistry heats up. But is this just a fling, or the beginning of a lasting relationship?

    Let me just say, the chemistry between Valentina and Charlie was FIRE. I loved how they interacted together and the cute banter they exchanged was adorable to read. It was great to see Valentina finally relax and start to live a little, and it was wonderful to see Charlie start to examine his past and start to build bridges back to his family and heal old wounds. The minor characters added some comic relief and I definitely need to go back and read the first two books because I'm dying to find out how Rory and Zoe got together. While this is book 3 of the series, and I haven't read any of the previous books, this book can be read as a stand alone.

    Being Scottish, I know what my country looks like – a lot of the time writer’s imaginations get a little carried away about what Scotland is like.   It’s frustrating and a real killjoy when reading books set in the landscape I know and call home.  So, when I find a book that nails it to a tee, I get pretty excited.  Evie Alexander with The Kinloch Series writes hilarious funny and whacky stories in the perfect backdrop description which feels like stepping out into the real world.  I can’t love her interpretation enough, I never want to leave the pages of her books.   From plot-perfect fun and games to relatable, endearing characters these books suck you and one more chapter is never enough (can’t put these books down).

    Set at the same time as Hollywood Games, the story reveals further details about the whole bunch of crazy brought to Kinloch with Brad Bauer showing up to make a crass sequel to Braveheart too.   Robert the Bruce must be spinning in his grave.  The chemistry between Charlie and Valentina is sweet, sexy, and bundled together with a great bunch of laughs as they tick times off on a bucket list.  Both of them are deep, flawed characters that steal your heart with how perfect they are together against the Hollywood chaos brought by the film and the strange holy man that’s high on something weird. 

    The writing is superb, bringing together a perfect rom-com that delights with a wicked sense of humour and daring crazy.  I barely felt I was reading this story, more like it was happening around me with the description and world setting of the story.  Charlie and Valentina might be on the run from their flaws and personal demons, shying away until they are ready to face them down to get their happy ending.  Can’t wait for the next installment!

    Was waiting to read this book on a day I needed a laugh, and it 100% came through 😭 Evie Alexander is definitely one of my favourite romcom writers, her stories never fail to make me grin, or better yet, laugh out loud.

    This book is set in the same timeline as Hollywood Games (book 2 of this series), and it shows us Charlie and Valentina's story (*cough* shenanigans *cough*) happening during the movie shoot. I absolutely LOVED their meet cute, and the way they uplifted each other. I was definitely swooning throughout.

    I can't wait for Musical Games (book 4)!

    I turned to this for a bit of lighter reading. I love the characters and was drawn into the story. A bit over the top with the sexual gymnastics which was unnecessary padding. However, there was a good story there which made for an enjoyable read.
