WHY C. G. COOPER MATTERS

Fiction has the power to change lives.

Pay a visit to Cooper Country and you’ll understand why. With his unique voice and flair for creating characters you’d love to hang out with, C. G. Cooper imparts every one of his novels with messages that perfectly illuminate what Faulkner called, “the human heart in conflict with itself.” In them, characters confront hard truths about life, the necessity of war, the military industrial complex, and why and how good men and women die.

But there are messages within the messages.

There is the power of the individual to triumph over evil against overwhelming odds; the struggle of good people against their inner demons; there is brotherhood, family, the discovery of allies in unexpected places, struggles with faith; there is community; there is authenticity; Cooper’s heart is on every page, beating hard and fast through action and moments of tenderness alike.

Expect high-octane action, slow-burn thrills, and gut-wrenching drama. Expect the ultimate conflict of the human heart.

This is Cooper Country. Lives will change.

THE LOWDOWN

Drawing on his days as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps—a stint that came on the heels of a degree in foreign affairs from UVA—Cooper sifted his experience through his vivid imagination and created Corps Justice, the first novel in the beloved Corps Justice series. Thus, a band of characters was born that would go on to enthrall readers throughout 17 novels and counting. With more than 2 million book downloads and multiple appearances in the Amazon Top 100, C. G. Cooper remains one of the most successful USA TODAY and Amazon best-selling authors.

In 2020, he won the prestigious James Webb Award presented by the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation for his novel Chain of Command.

In addition to bouncing around the country in search of the perfect vacation (turns out, it is anywhere with his family), Cooper has called Nashville home ever since his final Marine duty station. When not enjoying the laid-back lifestyle of Music City, he’s doing his best to add more novels to the growing list at cg-cooper.com.

I enjoyed the premise of this story and believe it to be extremely plausible. The author writes his thoughts about a cure for cancer and what all the medical and pharmaceutical would do...cover it up, of course, as a cure would cause this group to lose trillions of dollars of profit and many jobs within the sector. My friends and I have had the same discussion and believe the above statement to be true.

In Lethal Misconduct, Cal is fired from SSi and goes to work for the President, who allows him to set up a new company and staff it with troops of his choice. He sets up this new group near the campus of the University he had attended in Virginia prior to joining the Marine Corps and hires most of the characters from SSI. Their first mission is to investigate rumors of a group building biological weapons within the U.S. The bad guys have ties within the government and are led by a former Army Colonel and his trusty bodyguard (a former Secret Service agent). They are funded by billionaires and CEO's of several larger pharmaceutical companies.

The doctor who had originally developed this possible cure for cancer, after visiting with a witch doctor in South America, was testing it on terminally ill patients and found them cured within a couple of days. However, his former employer - the Colonel - had stolen all of his work but was missing one piece of the puzzle. The good doctor is on the run and hiding from the Colonel's henchmen - no longer trusting his old boss. As fate has it, Cal's team stumble across the good doctor and agree to help him.

The billionaires are being duped and only three of the dozen people involved in the success of this plan have different agendas once they get the missing piece and complete this new drug. However, it's not planned as a cure - instead they are making a biological weapon and plan to launch it in the middle east. Having finally come upon this new plot, Cal and his team race to stop the implementation of this deadly threat.

Lethal Misconduct is one of the better books within the series and I highly recommend it. In fact, I stayed up late and finished the book in a single setting - just couldn't put it down! Looking forward to reading the final published book in the series and the new ones promised for next year. Great job Mr. Cooper!

    Another great read by Cooper.

This one starts with a man named Price. Dr. Hunter Price.

Price is a doctor who has discovered the cure for cancer.

Price did most of his research for his cure while working for the CDC and NIH. He traveled for them and at one point he was in South America where he met a tribe of villiagers who lived in the remote jungle. The shaman of the tribe seemed to recognize Price and called him the Traveler. He passed on to Price the secret to the low cancer rates among the remote villages.

Price comes from a wealthy family. A family who made their money the old fashioned way. They earned it.

Price is being pursued by his old NIH boss Gormon Cromwell. Cromwell was a Col in the Army who had his career cut short when he was a Green Beret. He's a man who has a use for Prices research and its not in curing cancer.

Cromwell's right hand, Malik Vespers, has tried to capture Price more than once and so far has been unsuccessfull.

Cromwell also has Dr. Merrifield, a French/America, working with Prices research. Merrifield is getting close to creating something that will kill millions.

Senator Mac Thompson is calling the shots, or so he thinks. He and Cromwell think alike about the use for what Merrifield is making. What the Senator wants doesn't stop him from using Prices cure to save his only son's life but he has something else in mind for what Merrifield is making.

Cal is still the owner of SSI but he's now removed from the day to day operations.

Cal now heads this new covert operations group with Briggs, Trent, Patel, Doc Higgins and Gaucho to name a few. Still part of SSI but completely seperate. This unit will be at the beck and call of President Zimmer. A unit that will operate on its own with no oversite. A unit that will be under the radar.

Cal also has the highly intelligent and savvy Jonas Layton. A guy most of the tech world calls "The Fortunteller" for his prognosticative skills.

Layton will be the face of the new unit. Layton is a billionaire and an entrepreneur. Jonas is a guy who knows how to get things done. Cal considers him a good friend.

Cal didn't know how he'd like this new covert ops endeaver but decides he likes it just fine.

The group has a new compound in Charlottesvill, VA. A new compound Jonas is doing the work on. This compound will be every bit as good and secure as their SSI offices in Tennessee.

Jonas brings something to Cal's attention. That something is a string of people cured of cancer.

So begins one damned fine read.

This one has Cal, the Jefferson Group, Doctor Price, President Zimmer, Cromwell, Vespers, a plot to kill millions, a US Senator, his son, kidnapping , murder, blackhawk helicoptors, a sub, greed, justice and Cal and his group getting it so damned right.

    Another five star read.

The Corp Justice books just keep getting better and better. Lethal Misconduct is no exception. The characters continue to develop. The writing is amazing. Each time I read one of CG Cooper's books the stories seem perfectly believable as are the characters in the book. I was intrigued at the end of National Burden as to what would happen when The Hammer made her statement and how that would affect the future books. I had to jump on this book immediately to see what Cal's reaction to The Hammer's statement was. I'm glad to see my favourite characters are part of the new team set-up and there are new members to the team also. I can now agree with The Hammer's statement of why Cal had to leave SSI. For what they need to do it needs to be separated from the company. I was excited to read about the cancer cure as having a husband with cancer it hit close to home. I have met many people who have left us too soon because of cancer. I know there is a cure for cancer out there and it wouldn't surprise me at all if some of what was talked about in this book has some truth behind it. Before I get on my soapbox about all that I had better sign off and go read Moral Imperative.

I have to say, when starting this book, I was a little concerned because of the dramatic ending of the previous book. However, no need to be worried at all. This instalment was fantastic. Cal and the team come to the rescue again but in a novel way this time. A brilliantly written book again and I’m off to start book 7. Another 5 star award.
