Rosie Green burst onto the writing scene at the age of nine, anonymously penning a weekly magazine for her five-year-old brother (mysteriously titled the 'Willy' comic) and fooling him completely by posting it through the letterbox every Thursday.

Rosie's continuing love of writing saw her study English at Dundee University and spend her twenties working on various teenage magazines, including Jackie and Blue Jeans, and meeting pop stars. Then she got serious and worked as a newspaper sub-editor at the Dundee Courier before moving to Surrey and setting up an organic veg box delivery business.

These days, she lives with her family in the beautiful county of Northumberland and has finally realised a life-long dream of becoming a published author. She currently writes the Little Duck Pond Cafe series of novellas, which is centred around life in a village cafe. Each book can be read as a stand-alone story.

Rosie has also written books under the name Catherine Ferguson.

New for 2025: The Pop-Up Cake Shop, out in April; Daydreams & Doughnut Cake, out in June; and Teacakes & Tangos, which will be published in August.

This is a heartwarming seasonal romance with drama, snow, love, a lovely small community and brilliant characters. Fen had been devastated to learn the man she crushed on was a liar and cheat. Now she's making a new life for herself without him and, with the support of family and friends, she's regaining some of her self confidence and is even going to compete in a baking competition, life's looking good again. However, when snow falls, the café roof leaks, secrets are revealed and she has to rethink her relationships and make decisions.

This is set in a delightful small community where everyone knows everyone else and they all pull together to support and help each other. The story has some magical moments to bring a huge grin to your face as well as some heartbreaking moments (especially involving Maisie and Ellie). Fen is so self-doubting and vulnerable that she makes decisions to protect herself and it is only after she is truly rescued that she is able to make more sense of the actions of others and give love a chance. Filled with festive charm, this story is a real page turner, one that I just didn't want to put down until I'd finished it and now I can't wait for the sequel! If you enjoy contemporary village life with great characters and romance grab yourself a copy of this brilliant novella.

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book without obligation and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.

I purchased the whole set of these because I thoroughly enjoyed book 1; but I started reading this one and I realized that I don't like reading about wimpy women who are afraid of their shadow. I read the book but it was difficult reading. Have you ever wanted to wring someone's neck as you watch them do stupid things and let people walk all over them? That's how I felt about Fen.

It’s really hard to write a review of this book without giving anything away, especially as it is part of a series, but I’ll try.

The story continues straight on from Christmas at the Little Duck Pond Cafe and just like in that story, the book is told mainly from Fen’s perspective.

Christmas Day has arrived and the residents of Sunnybrook that we have gotten to know over the course of the series all descend onto BrambleBerry Manor, Fen’s parents home, for Christmas lunch. Ellie, Jaz, and Fen are each congratulating the other on how wonderful their lives are at the moment and how happy they each are, however, not everything runs smoothly for the trio and to top it all off, the snow is coming down fast and no-one is going anywhere.

Fen is a superwoman who just doesn’t know it. She had some hard times lately with a crush turning out to be something quite different from what she imagined and then her dad having a heart attack. She has now found love with Rob, but will their love last?

Ellie has decided to open a bakery next to the cafe, but times are hard and they’re about to get harder thank to the snow. There’s also an issue with little Maisie that is upsetting her.

Jaz has finally seen that Harry can be a grown-up, but one false move and he’s back in the doghouse and Jaz is rethinking her life with him.

I’ve loved all the books in the series and this one is no exception. The setting is simply gorgeous and the characters are all delightful if a little hot-headed at times. Sunnybrook sounds like a delightful place to live, although I’m no good in a countryside environment, preferring city life.

The book is a lot of fun, it’s quick and it is one to add to your Christmas collection. So grab a copy and settle down with the residents of Sunnybrook for some festive reading.

    I thoroughly enjoyed this story!

This was a really nice book to read, the story was well written and it had a great flow to it. The book is only short in length so I was able to sit and comfortably read it in one sitting.

The characters were great and I loved their interaction even if I did want to give Fen a good talking too at times – just goes to show how wrapped up in the story I was! I love the cover and really enjoyed my festive trip to the Little Duck Pond Café!

Four stars from me, I really enjoyed it!

Another charming tale of our trio of friends from Sunnybrook...
Primarily painting the long and winding - and snow-covered - road to romance for Fen and Rob, "Snowed in..." also provides glimpses into the continued dramas of Ellie & Jaz and the rest of the charming "Little Duck Pond Cafe" cast.
Fen is in danger of sabotaging her embryonic romance with Rob due to a series of escalating over-reactions; Ellie feels slighted by Maisie through a massive misunderstanding; and Jaz is too quick to pass unfair judgement on Harry.
Sunnybrook has all the ingredients to be a hot-chocolate fuelled winter wonderland - but our three heroines still have to face very real emotional crisis on their slippery slope to true happiness.

I did enjoy this book, the ups and downs of fens emotions are so raw and can be relatable to many who have started new relationships. Great writing as always from this author and the story has been left open, let's see what happen next to the crazy gang.

Absolutely loved the whole series of these books and managed to read all 4 in 6 days lol now i don't know what to read.

Characters are fab and i loved reading about them all separate and being able to read about each one which doesn't normally happen unless its the main character.

I'm hoping that there is a book 5 to follow soon.

Sweet. How many of us have felt that huge level of uncertainty at the beginning of a new relationship. I think this story captures how very much more difficult this is in a small, village community, where everyone knows your business! Good fun reading !
