The Most Eligible Viscount in London (The Lords of London Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 1,270 ratings

In bestselling author Ella Quinn’s intriguing new Regency trilogy, a dashing suitor must decide if love and marriage are mutually exclusive . . .

Viscount Gavin Turley is convinced that love matches cause nothing but trouble. Still, after months of courting, he’s fallen for Miss Georgie Featherton. He’s passionate about her, in fact. But words of love are not an indulgence he will allow himself. When he presents Georgie with his marriage proposal, he will lead with his head—not his heart. His qualifications as a husband are excellent, after all. What could go wrong?

No sooner does Gavin kneel on one knee than Georgie’s heart goes aflutter with joy. Finally, the proposal she longed for had arrived. Yet Gavin seemed to be listing his credentials for a business partnership, not a romantic union. Without a declaration of love, Georgie can only reject his offer—unless the ladies of the
ton, and Georgie’s grandmamma, have anything to do with it. For sometimes it takes a wiser eye to see the love behind a guarded heart—and a clever scheme to bring it out of hiding . . .

Praise for The Most Eligible Lord in London

“Quinn explores the allures and idiosyncrasies of aristocratic life with wit and charm reminiscent of Jane Austen. This intelligent romance gets the series off to a promising start."

I appreciated that it was a continuation of book 1. So it continues the story of a group of debutants, who became steadfast friends, after some who have married and others that are still trying. I loved the help that the dowagers give to the young women. So conniving and deceiving. I need to see if there is a book three. I just can't stop going over their lives and what has happened until now. They have so much story yet to tell.

This one has all the rich trappjngs of a typical Ella Quinn historical romance. We meet the female lead charactet, Miss Georgie and her chief suitor, Viscount Gavin Turley. Geirgie is certain that Gavin is the one man for her, but when he offers for her the potential bride turns him down.

Gavin insusts he cannot love a woman, since love matches are doomed to dusappointment or loss of conttol. The balance of tbe book is spent in watching the fool discover he does, in fact, love Georgie no matter what they call it.

The story is a little slow-moving. But if you enjoy introspective and the minutia of live among the wealthy in early 19th century Britain, a slower pace will not dusturb your serenity.

Not a thrilling tale, but still recommended.

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

A novel with great attention to detail and a sweet story, just not my favorite in all the books I have read of this author.

The premise of the plot was fresh and unusual. The marriage proposal occurs on the first page of the book, it is rejected and mayhem ensues. Usually the proposal happens at the conclusion of the book following a long courtship. This book flipped that around and it made the plot interesting. Although the plot was sweet and well written, there were at times a simplicity to it. I felt it could of had more twists and turns to liven up the plot.

I liked Georgie and Gavin. Gavin had a dark past he had to overcome. His past was explained in good detail, but at times I wanted more angst out of him. Georgie just wanted love from Gavin. She fought hard. I liked that Georgie was written with such intelligence. She wasn’t a perfect, simple minded debutante. However I just wasn’t as invested in Georgie as I was in Gavin.

The secondary characters were rich and well developed. From the meddling, match making dowagers to a rival for Georgie’s attention, they were exciting and engaging.

Sometimes in the book I felt I knew where the plot was going. I felt there could of been more obstacles for the couple to overcome. The plot was well written and I became invested in the characters. It moved at a good pace, not too slow.

I have mixed emotions about this book. I am conflicted because it didn’t reach the pinnacle of some of the previous works to which I gave excellent ratings. I am looking for more humor and intrigue. I will be reading the next installment and for those who enjoyed the previous series I would advise them to read this book to see where it goes next.

This is a marvellous continuation to the series, which is brilliantly written. The plot which has a spicy moment, has a bit of suspense and a hero who does not seem to know how the heart works. This is a gripping story that you will love.

We have a villain who is not a villain, that could have been used to more effect and suspence. We have a couple who have a misunderstanding, the idea could have been developed more fully with a bigger crisis and more drama making up. A kidnapping is almost immediately resolved, no tension or drama there either. The idea that a father delivered his son was also mentioned shortly and could have been developed more, though that might be making the book too long and is not needed in the story.
