With a background in illustration and graphic design, R. J. Hampson brings a unique blend of creative thought to his work in both traditional and digital media but is happiest when he tells a story.

Originally known as the author and illustrator of the Bunyip Tree series of children's books, Russell writes: "I was intrigued by the machines in my local Australia Post mail center and was inspired to draw them. This became the seed that inspired my first illustrated children’s book which features a kangaroo, called Roopert, who delivers the mail."

"Having cottoned on that being a children’s book author and illustrator meant I could draw whatever I liked, the next book was about a wombat named Wombi who loved heavy machinery. And then came a possum, platypus, koala, fire engines, trains, and before I knew it there were 5 in the series and plans for more!"

And in 2020, Russell decided to release some of his more fanciful illustrations as a series of coloring books.

I love the cute patterns, not too much repetition page to page and appreciate the second set with dark backgrounds and subtle changes. I can't wait to collect them all!

This is my 3rd J Hampton book so it goes without saying that I like his style. I gave it 4 stars because I’m not a big fan of paying a higher price for duplicate pages. It’s ok but I’m not one to enjoy the same coloring page twice. One and done is how I like it. But everything is really great about this book.

Great book and I was going to get ALL of his books in the hardback version until I received the 2 I ordered...
I was shocked and disappointed that I paid MORE for the hardback version of this book and ONLY had ONE set of images. In the paperback version, which I also have, you get duplicate copies of each image. I also thought I would have received better quality paper in the hardback book... NOPE... same crappy paper!!! I felt a bit ripped off ;o(((
Do not waste your money on getting the hardback copy of these books!!!

Ich gebe dem Produkt fünf Sterne, weil es den Angaben entspricht.
Die Motive bestehen überwiegend aus Tieren, die teilweise in ihrem natürlichen Lebensbereich aber teilweise auch anstelle von Menschen in deren Bereich abgebildet werden. Es gibt auch ein paar Menschen und phantasievolle Geschöpfe z.B. Drachen.
In der ersten Hälfte sind die Zeichnungen eher hell gestaltet, im zweiten Teil dunkler und mit kleinen Abweichungen.
Das Papier ist weißes Druckerpapier, einseitig bedruckt und die Rückseite ist nicht schwarz. Der Print ist aus Polen und ja es ist kein super Papier aber mit Geduld und den entsprechenden Stiften kann man trotzdem schöne Ergebnisse erzielen.
Ich werde zum Schutz unter die ausgewählte Seite, ein dickeres Papier oder eine dünne Pappe legen um unerwünschtes durchdrücken bzw. durchbluten zu vermeiden. Ich probiere verschiedene Buntstift-Sets aus, weil die Stifte je nach Papier anders malen.
Bin noch nicht selber zum ausmalen gekommen, habe aber im Netz tolle Ergebnisse gesehen.
Das Buch ist ohne Beschädigung und schnell geliefert worden.

Still true in theme and to some of the earlier books and characters we have come to know and love, Hampson has found the lost child in all the adult colouring community by evoking the imagination.
I did not pre-book but waited for the early reviews. Seeing the results and online flip throughs, I knew I did not want to miss out on the action. Like all his books there are two sets of the same image but this time his second set is a bit more pluckier, brought in part by darkening the backgrounds of some of the images. Spoiler alert; The lost man at sea finally gets rescued, with the colourists deciding the method of his rescue. Or was he rescued? A must explore on this magical journey along with many more fun illustrations. My two personal favourite pictures are the postman and the dog looking out into the lands of lost socks.
