Seduction of a Duke (Love And Devotion Book 3) Kindle Edition
Lady Cora Keats, the only daughter of the Duke of Dover is not only beautiful, she’s confident, self-assured, and sometimes a wee bit outspoken. She knows one day she’ll have to marry and settle down – her father constantly reminds her. Cora has other plans - she doesn’t want to marry…at least not now. She’s grown into an independent woman with an occupation few women dare pursue. She cannot…no she will not give up a successful business for a man. Not even if he’s an obscenely handsome duke who shares her interests.
Sebastian Steele, Duke of Hightower was sought after by all the eligible young women. Tall, muscular and stunningly good-looking, the former rake has quietly begun his search for a wife. Drawn by Lady Cora’s uniqueness and confidence he realizes through all their bickering there is something more lying beneath the surface.
Can these two opposites put aside their differences and work together for the greater good or will pride and stubbornness rule?

- Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2022Regency Romance holds a special spot in my heart. I'm always on the lookout for my next favorite author and book in the genre. I have found it in JR Salisbury's Seduction of a Duke.
Lady Cora's spitfire personality is a match for Sebastian, Duke of Hightower, a reformed rake. The sparks fly every time they meet.
The storyline follows the Regency romance protocols but is full of witty dialogue, delightful humor, and just enough spice to keep things interesting. The underlying currents of equality for women add a welcome theme to the story.
You'll find characters to love and a few to despise in this story. The author fleshes out each character, so you feel that you know them well. She even makes your mouth water with the descriptions of meat pies and apple tarts enjoyed on a tartan blanket picnic.
The lush settings in Scotland are so well-described I became immersed in the surroundings and the castle. From the verdant greens to the rainy days, I longed to be alongside Lady Cora in her beautiful home and leisurely riding horses through the surrounding land.
I haven't read the first two books in the series but had no issues reading number three as a standalone. I can honestly say I can't wait to read more in this series and from the author. If you love a fun, flirty, enemies-to-lovers tale, then Seduction of a Duke is just the book for you.
Read through the Kindle Unlimited program. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2022I enjoy reading Regency romance novels and I am always looking for something different and unique. This book definitely fit that criteria.
Lady Cora Keats is more interested in training racehorses than finding a husband. Her father indulges her and allows her to work with her beloved equines even though nobody knows that a woman is the actual trainer.
Sebastian Steele, Duke of Hightower, is also not at all interested in marriage, but he definitely wants a good trainer for his young thoroughbred, Apollo's Gold. Every time he encounters, Lady Cora, sparks fly and harsh words are exchanged. But, Sebastian is determined to get Apollo the best training around, so he tries to get along with Cora in order to influence her father and his trainer.
This book has all of the requisite elements for a great Regency novel: the balls, the fashion, the ton, a few misunderstandings and a HEA ending. The author has created a great cast of characters and I especially enjoyed Cora's independent nature and determination to train horses no matter what society might think.
There are a couple of pretty steamy scenes in the book, so be warned if this is something you don't want in your books.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2022A fiery Scottish lass meets her match. Cora is passionate about life and horses. Being a Duke’s daughter has not restricted her from being strong willed and opinionated. Sebastian is a Duke who has been avoiding the marriage mart. This is a wonderful story with two powerful characters. They are both focused and stubborn. They find once they talk that they have lots of things in common. They find love and a future.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2022A unique storyline and characters with a strong personality, this book was an ok read but not outstanding.
In this novel, we have a duke and a duke's daughter, I didn't mind the character of Sebastian but I disliked Cora immensely. She was spoiled and snobby. I did like the power play that came between the two and thought they actually were perfect for each other. The story flows along nicely and then ends rather abruptly without much fanfare or memorable scenes. An epilogue would have been nice.
The one big thing that held it back for me was that I feel, the author is too wordy and doesn't allow her characters to speak. Rather than the characters telling the story, the author tells us. It reads like a play-by-play of daily activity, and sometimes a very boring one at that. He goes here and does this, then this, then he goes there. For me, it kills the story because I don't feel a part of the story, I don't feel the characters. This is the second book from JR Salisbury that I have read and I think it is just her style of writing, which is fine and unique to her but it's not something enjoyable for me to read.
I received an advanced copy in exchange for my review.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2022I have mixed feelings about this book. The story overall is okay, it's two strong people who don't like each other at first but end up being perfect for each other. That being said, it's really hard to manage to make a regency era lady independent without her sounding like a bi*ch. This author sort of manages that but it's hard to warm up to the heroine since she sounds rude and like a know-it-all. The hero in this case sees there is more to her but his "sensibilities" don't allow him to find her acceptable. That being said, after their initial meetings, the 'too much of this or that' faded away and they began to have more realistic interactions. Once they reached that stage, I enjoyed the story a lot more. I did think the ending was a bit abrupt but they got to an HEA. Overall a good read. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2022Lady Cora, the daughter of a duke, has built up her father's racing stable and become a very successful horse trainer. The Duke of Hightower wants the duke's trainer trainer to help his favorite colt reach his potential. Sparks are flying whenever Cora and Hightower meet. Can she keep her secret when Hightower accompanies his colt to the Scottish estate where the training stable is located. I enjoyed the heroine immensely who followed her bliss in a Victorian era that didn't allow women a lot of freedom.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good stories
The stories are really good, however there does not appear to have been anyone available to read through the script and amend the many spelling mistakes, missing words, or extra words. Maybe there was spellchecker on their computer and they are notorious for changing what you intended saying. Another bugbear of mine is the spelling of whiskey, this denotes Ireland as the originator of the spirit. This story was set mostly in Scotland, and they owned a distillery, so they would not be drinking Irish whiskey, they would drink Scotch or whisky.
I would also point out that Lanarkshire is in the Central belt or Midlands of Scotland as it would have been known at that time, not the borders. From Lanarkshire you would not be surrounded by mountains as they are in the Highlands, you'd have hills of the Southern uplands, the mountains may be vaguely seen to the north on a clear day.
An editor and a bit more research clearly required to not spoil excellent stories, as can be gleaned as I've read 3 books of the series..
