4.7 out of 5 stars 82 ratings

When Daniella’s life is threatened again, can she pull herself out of her fictional world long enough to see the truth?

Daniella Knight works hard to create suspenseful and romantic tales, but she shutters herself from the world after a violent interaction with a fan. When her house catches on fire, she and her protection dog, Tigger, are forced to rely on the help of strangers.

Huntley Young loves being in the thick of the action—especially if that action has something to do with his job as a firefighter. When Huntley stops the homeowner from returning inside the house, he has no clue that he just placed himself firmly in the hero department of her latest book.

As Hunt and Daniella get to know each other, Daniella’s creative mind sometimes has trouble separating reality and fiction. When danger strikes again, will Daniella be able to see what is right in front of her, or will her past trauma protect her while hiding inside her romantic fictional world?

After a traumatic event, Author Daniella Knight moves to a small town with Tigger, her K-9, trained in protection. After her house burns down, another traumatic event, Daniella starts falling for real life hero Huntley Young.
Fireman Huntley Young was smitten from the first moment that he saw Daniella. He stopped her from running back into her burning house buy throwing her over his shoulder and getting her to safety. With Daniella having no where to go, he takes her to the family farm.
Instead of facing the trauma that she has been through, Daniella starts sinking into the fantasy world that she has created in her books. Daniella sinks so far into her fantasy world, that when a third traumatic event happens, she can’t separate real life from fantasy.
Once again Stacy Eaton mirrors real life with fiction and shows us how something traumatic in our lives can cause us to have PTSD and loose our grip on reality. Kudos to Ms. Eaton for bringing us these stories that touch on real situations.

Another great book in this series. Huntley and Daniella met under stressful circumstances. They had an instant attraction that they tried to fight. This book was romantic and suspenseful. Their lives were truly tested, and their love was too. This is a great series to read.

    Huntley, by Stacy Eaton
Loving a Young series, book 3.

Sometimes when I’m reading a contemporary romance and everything is going great between the couple, but I can’t relax because I know something bad is going to happen and I’m just waiting for the other shoe to drop. That’s how I felt reading Huntley.

Daniella is an author. Just when she’s about a chapter from finishing her book her dog goes nuts and takes her outside. She realizes that her house is on fire and calls 911. This is the catalyst that drives the story. At the scene of the fire she meets a paramedic and later Huntley, one of the firefighters. They insist she come stay with their parents since their small town has no lodging available.

It’s clear from the beginning that a Daniella has a traumatic past and many secrets that she is unwilling to reveal, even as a relationship begins to develop between Daniella and Huntley. This is where I felt like shaking Daniella and telling her to tell the truth because secrets can destroy trust. Oh. well. Characters in novels never listen to me.

I don’t want to give the impression that I didn’t enjoy the book. I did and I plan to read more of the series. The combination of the large Young family and the suspenseful plots is captivating and you feel like you know everybody in the small town. The frustration with the characters was all me.

Overall I recommend the book. The mystery is revealed slowly giving you time to figure things out along with the characters in a satisfying way. The romance is believable and the Young family characters are a hoot. It was a fun experience despite wanting to give Dani a talking to early on.

I received a review copy of this book. My opinions are always my own. Who else would claim them?

What a FANTASTIC book!! Every moment of this book was something to love! The characters were well developed and had so much depth to them. The story itself was incredible and unlike anything I’ve read before. The steam is a slow burn and totally worth the wait. The ending was not what I expected but definitely perfect for this couple!

Daniella is an author in hiding with her protective guard dog. His dog was another fantastic character in this book! When her house burn down, she meets Huntley, and her life will never be the same! She meets his amazing family, the Young’s, and finally experiences being loved and cared for. Unfortunately she struggles to remain in reality, especially when Huntley reminds her so much of her fictional hero, Jake.

Huntley was a swoon worthy character. His love and care for his family was beautiful. His patience and feelings for Daniella were relationship goals. He even tried to be patient with his tendency to sink into her fictional world. I loved the way that this was written as well. The blend between reality and fiction was incredibly well done and came together is such a unique and fascinating way.

The added layer of suspense really brought this story to life. Having a house burn down around you and your life an unending question mark added a lot to the character of Daniella. It also added a lot to the story as she lives in fear or what might come next. Finally, the ending of the book was perfection. I didn’t expect what happened but I enjoyed it very much! It really brought back into the story that Daniella is an author and uses that to give her and Huntley a beautiful ending.

I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A wonderful book that shows off Stacy Eatons writing to perfection. The heroine, Danielle has a complicated life and has the attention of a stalker. The hero tried his best to help but it takes a lot for these two to finally be together. Beautiful story.
