What does leadership look like in a company with no bosses? How do you develop a culture that allows self-managing organisations to thrive? What mindset and relational shifts are required? In this book, the authors share stories and insights from nearly twenty years of coaching teams and organisations to become self-managing. Rather than looking at complicated self-management frameworks and models, these pages reveal a perspective of organisational transformation based on the simple but powerful premise of facilitating different kinds of dialogues.

How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the book that was missing from all the Teal literature
After Reinventing Organizations, this would be my 2nd recommendation for anyone getting into Teal or self-organization at work. There are a bunch of good books on those topics but most are about the principles and practices of self-organization. Lisa and Karin get into something that is, IMO, more important: the orientation need of leaders in self-organization, real stories and struggles, the importance and mechanics of adult to adult relationships. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Book
Excellent, short and down-to-earth considerations and conversations for any organisation seeking to become self-managed. Very simple explanations based on real-life successes (and some failures) told through the stories of those organisations. I love the moosehead metaphor, the Swedish equivalent of the English 'Elephant in the room' - but while the elephant conveys the sense of the size of issues and taboos, which are usually ignored, to the organisations' detriment, what I like about the moosehead image is that if left not dealt with the moosehead just festers and festers on the table, becoming increasingly putrid, nauseating and infested, as time passes and nothing is done. The mooseheads are the infamous untouchable taboos which make most organisations so toxic. Dealing with those hidden mooseheads in organisations is the starting point of Karin Tenelius' superb work. Concise, thought-provoking book, full of insights, with very clear conceptual explanations by co-author Lisa Gill.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST read if you want to learn more about self-managed orgs
Karin and Lisa's book is a fountain of knowledge around the key areas you need in order to get on the journey of self-management. Karin's honesty of the real-life experiences of businesses adopting this model provide a real wealth of knowledge about what works and what doesn't work when it comes to self-managing teams. By far this is one of the best books I've read on the topic, and believe this will become a core piece of literature for self-management.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading some new stories that I hadn't heard before. Proof that trust + guidance can build healthier, more successful companies. Thanks for the authors for taking time to share.
