New Understandings (Generals' Daughter Book 8) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 47 ratings

Aquaman and Neil Gaiman fans!
Who doesn't love mermaids? The Sirens of the deep aren't a myth anymore- rather they are the makings of nightmares.

USMC Lt. Samantha Quimby is back and preparing for the most important mission of her life- a lifetime of love with the handsome, dominant Captain Lewis. However, the ocean has other plans for the feisty little Marine biologist when a dark mystery from the bowels of the earth is exposed and brings incomprehensible terror for the family.

****
Sam's increased confidence in her unique abilities brings her to investigate the ancient secrets that lay in wait under the waves. Her family is beside themselves in the never-ending battle to keep her safe and have come to rely on Richard to help her understand the consequences of her choices. Little do any of them know, but the Captain has discovered a secret of his own. With the help of the orca, Ton, he employs a powerful means of teaching an unforgettable lesson or two- in both discipline and sensuality. He also wants to take Sam on a journey toward the next step in their lifestyle and prove to her that he's the alpha male who can give her what she desires most- but is she ready?

Michael and Teagan's romance is blossoming by the hour, and Teagan believes that the depth of her own needs is greater than anything a 'vanilla' life can provide. That is, until she deliberately defies Michael and faces serious consequences that force her to reevaluate her future. Standing at a crossroads, she has a choice to make- does she really want a life as an officer's wife with all the pomp, circumstance, and discipline or should she just walk away and live with expectations she knows she can meet?

With the making of choices come new understandings, and the two Marine Corps Generals discover that they aren't exempt. With Sam and Michael's involvement in their own relationships, Scott and Dr. Quimby realize that there's more to life than work and the kids.

It's never too late to fall in love... but will they give themselves the chance?

New adventures mix with old, and even Ton is making his opinion known more than ever! If you think science is boring, you haven't met Sam! Join this wonderful family as they laugh, cry, face their worst fears, and overcome impossible obstacles in this, Book 8, of the Generals' Daughter Series- New Understandings.

BDSM/AP lifestyler Breanna Hayse strives to give her readers truth and reality of the BDSM/Age-Play/Total Power and Erotic Exchange lifestyle.

Who am I?

I’m a native Californian gone 'wild', and had the opportunity to travel the globe and discover the world through the eyes of both a Marine Intelligence specialist and a BDSM lifestyler. I left the service and received a BS in Biological Sciences/Marine Biology with a minor in Chemistry and Physics and then went on the gain my Masters in psychology. Following a government shut-down, I ventured into hospice nursing and grief counseling, and extended my practice to marriage and family therapy for those involved in alternative lifestyle development. This experience has allowed me to gain unique perspective for my books and offer realistic plots and relatable characters.

My first book, The Game Plan, was published in 2012 and opened the door to the now-booming world of Age-Play literature. Since that time, I’ve devoted my ‘spare’ time to writing, researching, community involvement, and private and group pro bono counseling in deviant behavior, alternative lifestyle, and addiction recovery.

I was formally ‘dungeon trained’ as a Domme before discovering my submissive side when I joined the service. My scenarios are pulled primarily from either personal experience or observation, including spending time in BDSM clubs as the safety/medical officer. My multi-faceted background allows me to glean from many avenues and give a unique and intelligent literary experience through elements of fantasy and fiction. I also discuss the questions and psychology of the lifestyle in a manner that is fun and informative, and based on 'the real deal.’

I have read all 8 books in the Generals Daughter series and will read any new ones that come out in the future!

It’s been fun watching Sam & Mike continue to grow and continue their close personal bond, even though they both have taken a lover of their own.

I love the family dynamic and I really enjoy the way the original four have remained close, even as they add new members to their family!

Keep up the good work, Breanna! I think I’ve read most all of your books.

I'm still teary eyed over this book. if my heart could give a more than 5 stars as a rating it would. I fell in love with this family all over again. Your characters Mz. Hayes went from 'fictional' to wishing they were as real as they feel so I could hug them all, especially Scott in the last scene where he thanks his sister. I can't wait to read more about the sharks and the family.

I absolutely love this series! Each book is better than the last, and just gets better and better. More please! I never want these books to end, but I love that the author is keeping this series going and I know it’s not really the end. Highly recommended!!!

I so wanted to love this book, as I have read all of the previous ones in the series. But sadly, I can only give it a 3 (maybe a 3 1/2). First, the good parts: the characters are developing and growing, and it is fun to watch Samantha as she begins to spread her wings. t's also great that the generals (Joe and Scott) are beginning to have relationships of their own. These guys deserve a book all to themselves! They re charismatic and strong, and hopefully we will be hearing from them more. The plot of the book was well-laid out and held your attention---not some re-hash of older plot lines.

Now to the not-so-good parts. Mike is fast becoming my least-favorite character. He has a sadistic streak than came out when his girlfriend, Teagan, messed up the budget to the tune of $200 or so. She felt awful about it, but what does Mike do? Instead of explaining to her how to handle the numbers, he gives her a hard strapping. Even though she says she deserved it (!), it seems extreme...also, the fact that he was allowed, even encouraged, to punish his sister, is a little weird. As for Richard, his punishment of Samantha has begun to border on the abusive. Their earlier spanking scenes were fun, but there were a couple here that were painful to read about. Maybe Sam was right when she said the sea should have kept her. At least there, she was her own person...

Hope the next book in the series addresses these issues. Again, this was well-written. but a little too much hard-core BDSM.

Man this girl just can't keep out of trouble. But the love and discipline her family give her is amazing. Lots of love and kinky stuff in this book and a ton of healing to all of them. Bree you outdid yourself again

Great Book, Love the story line great characters, & Sam still finds ways to be in trouble no matter what she does, & then how Richard & Michael puts the scare into the study group. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

It seems that each book of the General's Daughter reuses old material from previous books. The scene where Richard converges with Sam while disciplining her, the scenes where Teagan's college friends smoke pot and get lectured by Richard and Michael. The scene where Sam discovers giant sharks. All of these are from previous books and make up the majority of this new book. Very little is new. Not really worth the price of a new book and I'm disappointed. Breanna Hayse has done this before and it leaves the reader feeling cheated.

I really enjoy this series and this one doesn't let you down. We find Sam and Richard's realationship growing and the Family learning to let go....just have to wish that the whole Submarine situation could move forward a bit faster but then it leaves more suspense for the next book. I suppose.

I had really enjoyed the other books in this series, especially loving all the dolphin/whale stuff and creepy megalodon sharks. I enjoyed the spin-off stories with Jennie as well.
Just this one...I am beginning to find Richard and Michael overbearingly oppressive - I'm bored with their constant, moralising lectures, and while I'll buy into all sorts of other stuff, if the boyfriend of one of my friends at university saw fit to come and lecture me and my other adult friends about our lifestyle choices, tell us to clean up our rooms and then threaten to come back with a paddle and spank us if we didn't, I'd be calling the police and getting a restraining order - it's getting a bit too much. I'll carry on reading, because I have really enjoyed the series. Just not this one. Sorry!
