Night Shift: A Steamy, Small Town Police, Second Chance Protector Suspense Romance! (Tactical Protectors Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 170 ratings

When I run into the hot guy on the park trail (literally), the last thing I expect is a jaded cop with a chip on his shoulder. Still, when my German shepherd licks his hand, who am I to judge? If Carter likes him, then maybe I should. But he’s trying to come back from a bitter divorce, he doesn’t want to trust anyone, and his job is risky.

As a wine bar owner, I think he’s got too much going on for a serious relationship. But he seems up for a second chance, and when he kisses me, it’s like the first time. He’s the protective and attentive, and everything I’ve been looking for. Or so I thought. Unfortunately, the world can be a wild and dangerous place, especially when the police must get involved. Or have to get involved with me.

Night Shift is a high-stakes, emotionally charged police romance that’s perfect for readers who love police suspense, sweet and steamy scenes, and passionate love stories. The novels in this steamy police hero series are each stand-alone stories and can be read individually in any order, if desired. These happily ever after police romances are based on real life and do not shy away from steamy scenes, occasional curses, and accurate scenes of cop life!

Review

"This was a very enjoyable read, romance, pain finding that which you never thought you needed. The relationship between the brotherhood of cops and the relationship he found with a beauty and her dog are both touching and inspiring at times, tears of a painful past tops this book off. Very enjoyable and recommended." - Butterfly Bridge Reviews

Night Shift is the story of Officer Matthew Danes of the Tustin Police Department. Matthew was a 10 year veteran of the Tustin Police Department, before that he was in the service. Matthew was married but because his wife did not like his hours and how he had to depress after he got home from work and the velco he wore, she got wander lust. She found the bartender down the street, I guess he was a better listener. So after a divorce and ten thousand dollars later he was shell shock in the relationship department, especially considering the type of job he held. He got home one day and couldn't sleep which had become a thing with him and he finally figured out after having being teased by his beat partner Ramon Garza about his middle looking a little pudgy there decided he had to do something about it. He went one day before work and got him running short and shoes and he was determined to get in shape. It was hard at first but one day as he was running he was run into by a dog. The horrible thing was that he sort of reminded him of his dog Duggo, who was a German Shepherd and Rottweiler mix, he was eating and when Matthew took him to the vet he found out the dog had stomach cancer and so he had to put him down. Duggo was the only thing left from his marriage that he was attached to. So as he was almost run over by this German Shepherd he looks up to see that he is attached to this lovely woman. The woman was named Rosemarie and the dog was named Carter. Come to find out she was running to maintain her weight because she was chubby when she was younger. Rosemarie owned a Wine Bar which was hers and she had a silent partner which was the Jensen's who owned a winery. This story of how the relationship of a Tustin Night Officer and a Wine Bar owner develops. This was a good romantic read. I enjoyed this story. I purchased this book because I had read one of M.D. Dalrymple's other books. This was a good short read.

I enjoyed this sweet story with a little danger! It's a fairly quick read with a well developed and written story. It's a nice build to an explosive ending. I love the characters! Matthew and Rosemarie are great together and for each other! I love how they meet. This is the first time I have read anything by this author and I was pleasantly surprised. I cannot wait to read more.

Officer Matthew Danes protects and serves the community of Tustin. Every morning after a long night-shift he returns home to an empty house. After two years of living as a bachelor he decided to invest some time into reshaping his body. While on a run he literally bumps into a beautiful woman who fills his heart with hope.

    Overall:
I get how some women swoon over a man in uniform. I on the other hand am not that woman. While this is a common fantasy for some women I can appreciate how stunning a man looks in uniform. For me it’s more about the man underneath the uniform.

I would’ve like a little more from Matthews character regarding his work habits and some of the dangerous aspects of the job as a cop. I didn’t get a sense for him as a man in blue. He had the makings of a cop with the uniform, but I didn’t feel like his job defined him. He was just a man in uniform who was attracted to a beautiful woman with a dog. I wanted more man in the uniform.

The author didn’t take the alpha approach with Matthew’s character which is quite refreshing, yet at the same time he seemed so careful. His trepidation was a bit concerning because I couldn’t separate the man from the cop. As a cop I imagined a strong secure individual. As a man he came across as careful and nervous quite the opposite of his cop persona.

For a short story it was a quick fun easy read.

It's a story about a police officer trying to get over a divorce from his cheating ex-wife and the loss of his beloved dog to cancer. To finally get out of his depression, start to take care of himself, and find a way to put the past behind him. And when he meets Rosemarie and her dog Carter on a run through the park he finally takes the chance.

Learning to trust his feelings for her and her loving the way that he actually is interested in what she does and who she is, makes this a beginning of a great love story. Besides that, who doesn't like a sexy man in uniform? Five stars.

Such a delightful book. No one with secret agendas, or loads of baggage. Just normal people living their lives. Both main characters were good people that I would like to know in real life.
Read all this series, all of them are wonderful.

Good book for a quick read

Rosemarie meets Matthew when her dog almost knocks him over while out running. Matthew has been single for a couple of years and is trying to sort his life out. Rosemarie seems to be just what he needs.
They begin dating and when his job comes too close for comfort he has a reminder of what’s important.

Story was fine for a speedy read. There was much in it to be honest. The ending was a bit anticlimactic, I’d expected something a bit more from it
