Shadow Weaver (The Nightwatch Academy Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,376 ratings

They say, there’s no rest for the wicked. In that case I must be pure evil.

When Hyde said the cadets would be getting Fast Tracked, he wasn’t joking.

It’s hard staying on top of the shadow cadet duties, but I’m not one to shy from a challenge. However, just when I think I’ve got a hold on my abilities and found my niche at the Academy, the principal throws a curveball my way.

Suddenly I’m drowning in painful revelations and more tasks. The one person I want to run to turns his back on me, and comfort comes from an unexpected source.

But the equilibrium is short lived because the silence of the mist is about to be shattered, and when it does, no one is safe.

It’s our job to protect the Academy grounds, but when danger rides the sky, who in the hell is going to save us?

The Vampire Academy meets Game of Thrones in this kick-ass, supernatural academy, Urban Fantasy with a slow burn Why Choose Romance.

So this is a series best read in order, So If your interested to grab th first one now. Now this book was a great addition to the series. Things are heating up in all areas of Justice's life, in both good and bad ways. There was as a lot going on in this book but I don't want to ruin anything so I'll keep it short. The romance is heating up, some problems are coming to a head while some new problems have arose. Some theories I had about powers, life and love interest were exploded to tiny pieces once new information came to light. There were a lot of twist type moments, that were essentially like book kind blown. This book did end on a cliff hanger and I need need need the next one. I'm not sure how many books are going to be in this serious but I'm hoping there isn't to much time between books because there so much left to figure out and I'm on the edge of my seat to find out. Great book would recommend.

Please please please stop with the cliffhangers. I really hate them. I love ending a story on some warm fuzzies not drama ramping up again only to slow down when I start the next book. That’s one issue I have with many books, not just this one, is that they go slow in the beginning ramp up in the middle and dive into utter chaos in the back last small portion of the book and then bam bam bam some crazy stuff happens and the end. Like no. I was liking where the book was going don’t end it there if you plan on cliffhanging.

This was better than the last book for sure. The emotional impact hit me much greater than the previous book. I saw and felt the emotions between the characters, I felt what Justice felt. I really like her as a character. I love Brady and I dislike Hyde I don’t even think the reason for him staying away is that strong. Drives me nuts.

Fiona is going to be an issue.

I wonder what’s going to happen next.

Book 2 takes all the emotional angst and tension of book 1 and distills it, maturing it and smoothing the harsh edges the beginning narrative held. Here, Indigo is truly growing, both into her powers and as a person - so is her team. The shadow cadets that surround her are learning and merging, forming a cohesive legion that works well in this incredibly dangerous world. Add in the relationships that tease and taunt with will they, won’t they, and you’ve got a fantastic fantasy novel that simmers with the perfect tension of a slowburn RH.

    Pros:
    - Well written.
    - My issues from book 1 are solved here, turning the focus of the growth along with the underlying threat that surrounds the academy.
/ Definitely not your average academy read.
    - Love The brewing romance (s)
    - Well edited, no issues noted.
    - Even though this is an RH (I think?) not every relationship has to be in that vein, and this one showcases true friendships well.

    Cons:
    - Cliffhanger..... sigh.
    - I get Hyde, but I want to smack him. Again.

Revelation upon revelation, and most are not good news for Indigo. One that was, was the fact that the person she called father was not her dad and a man she admired at the Academy is actually her dad! Their time together is short, as creating her with her mom is against the rules that Nightbloods must procreate with Nightbloods only, not with Weavers! However, the mixed heritage makes Indie an anomaly, she wields both sets of powers, weaver, Nightblood and shadow walker. Great characters and storyline, with fast paced action and a bit of romance make this an excellent fantasy read!

For both an Attempted Sexual Assault and Coercive Sex scene. Neither of these scenes is presented as an okay event but I would have still rather had the warnings.

The story is otherwise good. I enjoyed this series a lot. The romantic relationships seemed a little rushed but that is typical for reverse harem series. The action plot-line made sense and none of the characters made super idiotic decisions simply to further the narrative which I appreciated.

I will read this author again.

Indigo Justice, with some help from her newly acquired friends, has survived her first few weeks of training to become a Shadow Knight at the Nightwatch Academy, barely. As the story progresses the truth bombs keep dropping, a new danger arrives, and going with her gut instinct will either kill her or save them all. Debbie Cassidy’s Shadow Weaver has added depth and emotional ties to an already thrilling series. This book is laying a strong foundation for the relationships sure to grow into something more.

    Spice: 2/5

Small cliffhanger that totally has me up at 1 am starting book 3 because I’m shameless and addicted. So many questions! I need answers asap! Give the girl her dad back! Hasn’t she lost enough? Plain cruel!

I’m starting to piece together her harem, but being surrounded by so many men has me questioning when a guy is nice to her if that’ll be a love interest or not. It’s so addicting to watch these relationships grow naturally and not just be immediate. She’s growing and learning herself, so it makes sense not to be ready for some relationships yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Enthralling Story Continues
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 16, 2019
This series just got better with the second book. I loved the first book, but this one moves the story on in leaps and bounds. It also shows us much more about the world in which the Shadow Knights exist and the people who live there.

Indigo is getting closer to Brady. She still feels torn between Brady and Hyde though and it’s making things so much harder for her emotionally.

It has also been discovered that Indigo is able to Weave, so she must take classes. Her ability to Shadow Phase is actually a very rare Weave ability, which is what clued everyone in to her skill set. Because she can Weave, Indigo must take classes to ensure she her magical ability is stable. During this she finds more friends and of course makes an enemy. It’s interesting learning a bit more about Weavers and how their magic works, because it’s mentioned so much in the first book.

Indigo’s Year One Troop is all set to be fast tracked towards graduating to becoming and fully fledged Shadow Knight. On top of that she has to take the classes. There isn’t much down time for Indigo, but whilst she works with her Troop and some of the Year Two Troop that they have mentoring them, they all become closer and more like a proper team, or even family.

This subtle movement from acquaintances to team mates to friends is done very deftly and naturally. There is no need for jarring ‘moments’ to move things along, they just have to rely on each other, day after day.

The story of the Academy’s role in protecting the human realm from the Fomorians is gripping and learning, bit by bit, about the conflict is intriguing, to say the least. I can’t wait to read what happens next!

This second book in the series raises the stakes to a new high in a heartfelt and hypnotising writing style.
The unusual world of The Nightwatch Academy is on a whole new level in the supernatural genre.
I can’t wait for her to cross the line of her relationship status and have some emotional happiness in the next book.

Omg this book is so so so so good. There are no words. I was hooked from the first one and things only got better. I read both books back to back and I’m sat here desperate for more. Such an amazing read. I love strong, BA female characters who also have a sweet side and that’s DEF what we have here.
