    On Ember's first day on the job working for the handsome, but secretive, Gray Caldwell, she realizes two things. One, women flock to his veterinarian practice, The Menagerie, with or without sick pets. Two, women would flock to Heart's Edge's most eligible bachelor Doc Caldwell no matter where he was. All is going well until an unexpected client shows up. Doc is not pleased to see this women who is definitely from his past.     Besides intimidating Ember, Doc's heated glances, the touches that mean absolutely nothing to him but fluster Ember nonetheless, have her confused and second guessing her feelings as well as his.     Not sure what to think about this book. It has several things I don’t like. I hate it when the female is a ‘tiny, little thing’ less than 5’ and the male is huge yet the dynamics always works. Real life not withstanding. The premise behind the book is ridiculous and it seems the next book (which I will skip, thanks) will be about Nine (Leo), Gray’s best friend who was horribly burned in the fire but somehow get around fine. The age gap between the two is fairly large but bigger still is the life experience. The 12 years is big, but the difference in life is huge. The plot was no real mystery and it took forever for it to flow to its conclusion. I skimmed a lot of it because it was just so boring watching all the inside his head dialogue. No real humor in this book like most of her other books, and unfortunately no real connection either.

All bets are off when past threats get too close to Ember and he can't fight his feelings any more. Once with his innocent Firefly only wets his appetite and forever isn't enough. I have loved each and every book Nicole Snow brings to life but Doc and Firefly are on an entirely new level altogether. As you read you are transported to Hearts Edge and the people there by the detailed description from Nicole like a sponge to water, never getting enough. This story will have emotions going through you like sunlight through a window warming your soul. I have so many thoughts and feelings about Doc, Ember and Nine but I encourage you to get a copy and follow their journey of finding love, forgiveness, happiness and the strength to go on with the crippling doubt of past decisions. A MUST READ!!! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC this book and purchased a copy for my favorites collection. Nicole Snow is a favorite of mine because her stories are true to life and never disappoint. Hoping Nine gets a story to bring him a happiness and true love that brings him out of the darkness his life has become. Whatever comes next I'll be ready to explore.

    Second book in the Hearts Edge series, and we get Docs story. And what a story! Drama, intrigue and a little danger!!! Loved Docs sulky, closed off persona, he kept you wanting more and seeing him change throughout the book was just as good as reading about what made him the way he was. Ember was a hoot, clumsy and sweet and sometimes a whole lot sassy. Together they were great, entertaining for wants of a better description. Great book would recommend. Now book three, Nine, this should be interesting 🧐 also hoping there is a book somewhere for Blake, he deserves a little bit of happiness 🤷‍♀️

    As an avid reader I'm constantly looking for AFFORDABLE + READABLE = BUY romance novels.
    I've noticed recently (as I'm sure other avid readers have found too) that, for some reason the prices are hiking up considerably to the point that I'm actually buying less and re-reading my considerable library of purchased books over again. Considering that these are ebooks and not paper, they seem to be now outreaching the price of paperbacks which, is strange and, honestly quite frustrating as, their Standards + Quality + Content + Value + Paperless ≤ (less than or equal to) their previous books and does not warrant the price hike in my opinion. Thereby my search for enough decent affordable new novelists that have written decent ebook novel has been cut back considerably and, at the rate they are increasing their prices, my purchase of these books will most likely match it. So, in a nutshell they are defeating the object, which is selling their books.
    Anyhoos, having said that, back to this series, read all this series so far and, I have to say it's not really bad, good storyline and interesting secondary characters that lead to their own stories. Would recommend if you love intrigue, modern romance stories.
