No Matter What Happens: Love in the City Kindle Edition
As a senator’s daughter, Kennedy Blackwell has everything—or so it seems. But on her wedding day, her fortunes turn on a dime, when a shocking secret changes everything. Disowned by her family to protect her father’s presidential hopes, Kennedy is forced to rely on her oldest friends and their pact to stand by each other no matter what.
Determined to make a fresh start, free from her childhood as a political pawn, Kennedy uses the last of her funds to buy a home of her own. But when its aging front porch collapses beneath her, Kennedy finds herself enlisting the help of the “entertainment” from her bachelorette party—a handsome handyman-by-day, exotic dancer-by-night.
Wade Roberts faces his existence one crisis at a time. Everything bad in his life has directly resulted from a poor decision or the actions of a member of the Blackwell family. So, when the senator’s daughter calls asking for help, he’s torn between assisting her or making her “pay.”
But being with Kennedy means being tangled up in the Blackwell family drama—and when Wade is framed for an unspeakable crime, he discovers exactly how ruthless the Blackwells can be.
Can two people who start with nothing end up with everything?

- Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2022what a fun story to start what hopefully will be a new series for Ms Collins. A group of BFFs are together to celebrate Kennedy's upcoming marriage. She meets a male stripper and there is absolutely a current between the two of them. Wade is struggling to take care of his mom who has plenty of issues herself, and Kennedy is dealing with her parents who seem to be residents of the same town as the Stepford Wives. Its fun, irreverent and of course has a HEA. Each one of the ladies needs their own story, lets hope Ms Collins gives us that.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2022A very unlikely couple as he was a no one and she was perceived to be “special “ since her father was a Senator. Right. She was good but not the kind of “good” her parents wanted her to be. Such snobs. Wade was the nicest, kindest, and sweet guy. Good romance with no extreme sexual interactions. Just a good love story.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2022Kennedy’s world implodes on her wedding day. I don’t know how I would have reacted after hearing how horrible her fiancé is, but he and her parents were real pieces of work to want her to go through with the ceremony and the lengths they go to in the book to force her back with him just blew my mind. Wade is the first guy who cares for her and not want her family can give him. In fact, her family become a liability to him. I wouldn’t have blamed him if he ran screaming from the situation that is dragging him and his mother under. Her friends were a funny, interesting group, some of them beyond wild, but a force to be reckoned with when they get together to support their own. It will be interesting to see who they end up with.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2022A good book to start a new series. I liked the characters, they made me laugh and Kennedy & Wade are so good together. I like the plot twist to the story and enjoyed the book a lot! Kelly never disappoints me with her books!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 7, 2022Another great book from Kelly. Love the friends, the excitement, the real tale of the rich. Also thankful for noisy neighbors. Looking forward to more in this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2022Favorite Quotes:
Edna had the attention span of a goldfish, and after a couple of games, she ended up dancing with everyone in those red heels. She wasn’t picky. He’d even seen her dance with some old vet’s emotional support animal.
“They say size matters.” “Not if he can lick his eyebrows.” He nearly fell off the bucket trying not to laugh.
She pressed her mouth to his for a quick smooch. “I like my kisses mixed with whiskers.” “Maybe you should kiss Edna. She’s working on a mustache and goatee.” His shoulders shook. “The woman from Joe’s in the red heels and fringe?” “That’s the one.” “I bet she felt you up like a blind woman reading braille.” He blushed. “Exactly, and Edna’s a slow reader.”
His eight pack wasn’t the only wonder she encountered that night. To say he was a handyman was an understatement... Wade was skilled on many levels... His tool belt was full of surprises too. The way he used that hammer was pure mastery.
It’s been close to fifteen years. It’s about time I got some of those honey-do projects finished. You can be hired honey.
He may look as old as a classic VW Bug, but he’s got a Porsche hidden under the hood, and when it’s ready to race, I’m all in.
My Review:
This is Kelly Collins at her cleverly amusing and smirk-worthy best. I adored this odd collection of authentic characters and was rooting for them while fully invested in their entertaining and engaging storylines from start to finish. The writing was smooth and smartly paced with delightful sparkles of wry humor and Ms. Collin’s classic snarky wit. This is a brilliant opener to a new series, although I could never tire of her Aspen Cove One Hundred chronicles either. I am eager to see what happens next for this tightly bonded gang of girlfriends.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2022Kennedy is the daughter of a Senator, her life has been all for the cameras up til now, but when Kennedy’s life is upturned during her wedding, she takes a long hard look at herself and decides that living under the scrutiny of her parents is too much! She realises her wedding was a political event, not the union of a couple in love, and about to start the next chapter in their lives.
Kennedy makes choices, and they don’t include not making her do things because it’s expected of her. Her parents show their true colours, and try to railroad her at every step, but as we go through this book, Kennedy grows into herself and is a really lovely, kind-hearted, warm person.
Kennedy and Wade met at a bachelorette party, Kennedy’s! You pick up on an instant connection.
Kennedy gets her own place, but its in need of a lot of TLC and she ‘re-meets’ Wade, he is her handyman, to fix her place. They form a friendship and as they begin to learn more about each other, their friendship develops and they’re beginning to spend more time together, all going against her Senator father, who wants Kennedy to town his line, and will do anything to get his way.
She has a tough time, but always appears to be one step ahead of her Dad’s scheming. Her mother is no better either, always trying to push her a certain way!
Kennedy’s girlfriends are kick-ass, in your corner friends, and are all-in even if there appears to be a fly in the ointment, the group Nic, Romi, Holly, Reagan and Emily, really do have each other’s backs, I just love their fierce friendship.
Wade is a bit of a loner, with his own back story, completely different to Kennedys – totally different ends of the scale, privileged and underprivileged and they shouldn’t work, but they so do! Together they find in each other refreshing, good, wholesome qualities which makes their feelings even deeper for each other.
I loved Wade’s family, his mom Grace, who has the biggest heart, ad only wants what’s best for her Son. The neighbour, Edna what a fantastic character, we all need an Edna in our lives…. She’s always looking out for Wade and is more than happy to help with his Mom, when she goes to live with him and needs to adjust to her new life. I think there is a whole other story waiting to be told on the escapades of Edna and Grace! Oh I digress…
There are a number of issues Kennedy and Wade have to deal with, from rescuing helpless puppies, to paparazzi intrusion to house fires, I loved the way the story seamlessly, leaving you wanting all the information but not wanting it to end.
Your interest is kept from the very first chapter, keeping it there until the end immersed in the characters, the good and the bad.
I really enjoyed my bath time each night, to loose myself in Kennedy and Wade’s world

3.0 out of 5 stars Wade
This is not Kelly Collins normal work, it is a good read and I wondered if it would be a series with each friend falling in love. But so far looks like a one off book. This had some great characters in.
