4.0 out of 5 stars 8,884 ratings

'It's got Hollywood blockbuster written all over it' Cosmopolitan.
Based on Zoë Folbigg's true story comes an unforgettable romance about how a little note can change everything...

One very ordinary day,
Maya Flowers sees a new commuter board her train to London, and suddenly the day isn't ordinary at all. Maya knows immediately and irrevocably, that he is The One.

But the beautiful man on the train always has his head in a book and never seems to notice Maya sitting just down the carriage from him every day. Eventually, though, inspired by a very wise friend, Maya plucks up the courage to give the stranger a note asking him out for a drink. After all, what's the worst that can happen?

And so begins a story of sliding doors, missed opportunities and finding happiness where you least expect it.

The way this book starts in the middle of the story before going back to the beginning worked well to hook me in. I found this to be a good, easy ready with some well written characters. Room for a sequel - though not necessary.

Effervescent, light as the best macarons. This is a great read for anyone who's feeling stuck, jammed into the same daily routine as the future stretches away into the grey. As you laugh at the antics of Maya and her friends you'll feel uplifted, ready to deal with the job you no longer enjoy, the relationship you've outgrown and all of life miseries. Have a laugh this evening and same up ready to make some changes.

The characters were great and had interesting stories. Of course, the hope is that Train Man will be all he's meant to be in the end. I loved the side story of her best friends and the tv exec!

5.0 out of 5 stars Racy, fast paced, perfect!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 12, 2018
This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. I loved the characters and could relate to both Maya the protagonist, and Velma, the mover and shaker of the plot, and the poignant relationship between them both. I was drawn in from the outset, and really cared about the characters, especially Maya and James. The style is racy, the pace fast, the story structure perfect. I loved the interaction between the characters and the way the author spoke through from a position of all-knowingness leaving the reader dangling in suspense. The characters' lives interweave skillfully so that there is nothing superfluous in the narrative. Reading this book was such a pleasant surprise, since being nearer Velma's age than Maya's, I didn't think I'd like this story when I purchased it. How wrong I was - I just wanted to keep turning my kindle's virtual pages, and I cannot wait for the author's next publication this summer.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a gorgeous story!

I'm so thankful I had a deliciously rainy Sunday afternoon up my sleeve when I started this book as I simply could NOT put it down once I started! ... Beautifully written with a unique, fun and intriguing storyline, I loved every minute of this tale. "The Note"was a perfect pick-me-up to lift my slightly sagging spirits - the perfect balance of colourful prose, humour, contemplations on life and the spice of romance without being soppy. Thank you Zoe Folbigg! I eagerly await your next book.

One of the most irritating books I've read in a long time. I jumped ship after Maya's ridiculously perfect (but totally unreal) friend made the gratuitously inappropriate comment about wanting to be 'buggered' (not in the 'I want to be tired' sense). The writing literally made my skin itchy. Absolutely useless piece of garbage. Needless to say, do not buy.

    4.0 out of 5 stars ロンドン、通勤電車で毎朝見かける男性に恋した女性の心暖まる物語
Reviewed in Japan on March 16, 2018
