The Number 94 Project Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 687 ratings

Renovation takes a sexy turn when a cute country girl rocks up with a tool belt and plans that throw the whole gay neighbourhood into disarray in this light-hearted lesbian romance.

When handywoman Jorgie’s uncle leaves her an old house in Melbourne, it’s a dream come true. Sure, 94 Gaylord Street is falling apart, and she has to deal with her uncle Bruce’s eccentric friends thanks to his unusual Will.

But that’s okay. She’ll fire up her power tools and turn the dilapidated terrace house into a desirable inner-city pad. Then she’ll sell up and head home to the country.

Jorgie hasn’t counted on falling for cute neighbour Marta, who’s found her heart-home among the tight queer-community of Gaylord Street. Between mugs of too-strong tea and Jorgie’s lack of a working shower, the two forge a surprising connection.

But what happens when the renovation’s complete? Can Jorgie really just toss aside her tool belt and saunter away?

One of the many gift from Chyenne Blue's writing is the level of emotion the characters share. Marta and Jorgie have this banter and interest in each other that starts slow but gets hot. They are all part of a project that Uncle Bruce set in motion in his will. Jorgie is going to lead it and renovate the home her uncle lived in till he passed. The many characters who fill the story bring such fun. Coral, Leo, Elfin and Marta begin a journey of sharing the neighborhood they live in as Jorgie does the house construction. I laughed, cried enjoy slow kisses and the love story as it unfolded. The family it built was a joy to read. The honest communication and frank sharing was refreshing. When they give into their lust the bliss they shared was palpable. The ending has such a healthy, joyfully twist that it made me sad when I was done. This is a great read full of all the emotions a heart can grasp. Loved it.

SAPPHIC BOOK BINGO: favorite trope, non-US/UK setting; UNICORN: period (possibly other categories)

A woman inherited her uncle's house, but was directed by his will to split the money from the sale with four of his neighborhood friends. They voted to refinish the house first in order to make a bigger profit, and while the niece worked on the house, she found a new chosen family with her uncle's closest friends. She also found the love of her life, but complications with her mother forced her to have to decide which of the two was the most important one to her.

I liked the main and entertaining secondary characters, that the love and devotion given to her uncle by his friends was extended to her as well, and how much they played matchmakers for the MCs to help them fall for each other.

What did I like from the story?

The main characters are easily to love and very much relatable. Love and surprise to read that the other MC is a part time social worker. There was one dialogue between the main MC that made an impact, I guess because I can relate to it.

The support characters are hilarious. They made the story more alive and funny. The like how the author throws jokes without much of an effort.

I like how the author touch some issues such as being a meth addict and catfish. Although the author didn't go deep into this topic she showed more of what can be done to address the issues.

A light heartwarming story about finding love, making friends while renovating a house.
I hope you enjoyed the story as much as I did.

Marta and Jorgi Matt when her uncle Bruce died. Jorgie yeah her tooth his house with the intention that she would sell the house and divide the house up among all his friends in the area. This book has very good characters and is definitely Australian. I found the plot very good and the emotion and drama good. There is change for both women yes they and their friends go about fixing up the house to auction off. What was intended as to just be a fix up and then Jorgie would go back home to her mother Cilla. Nothing works out the way you think it will and this story is no different is a very sweet love story and is well worth reading. I recommend this book for those who like romance and Australia.

When handywoman Jorgie's uncle leaves her an old house in Melbourne, her life and the eccentric neighbors that surround #94 on Gaylord Street will forever be connected through her Uncle Bruce's most unusual will. His next door neighbor Marta was his closest friend so she is very concerned about what Will happen to his house. This is a positive story of rebuilding, not only an old house, but family and friendships. I loved the developing slow burn relationship between Jorgie and Marta. It's a feel-good story with quirky secondary characters that made me feel and made me laugh!

Yeah, I’m a fan of characters in the trades—and definitely construction trades, so this was a must for me. I’m a visual reader and I could definitely visualize the reno going on in the story, which I love.

I could also relate to the idea of such a close neighbourhood community since I live on such a street—with a very diverse population. I love the colourful and fascinating cast of characters Cheyenne has created on Gaylord Street.

The pace sometimes slowed down a bit but it is a bit of a slow-burn romance and was an enjoyable read. Just sayin’.

Jorgie’s uncle Bruce left her his property in Melbourne on Gaylord Street to her and his quirky friends in the neighborhood. Jorge is a handywomen and proposed that she restore the place and increase the value of their inheritance. There is an immediate attraction between Jorgie and Marta Bruce’s next door neighbor. A great story about restoration and the closeness between the eccentric characters of Gaylord street.

Cute low angst. I liked the humor and I liked a lot Coral and the sense of a little community inside a much bigger city. It felt like a zoom-in in the life of a group of friends.

Marta and Jorgie relationship is very sweet and uncomplicated at the end. If two people love each other, they will find a way to be together. Simple as that.

I also understood Jorgie and her relationship with the mother, especially since she's a single child.

Best to read after a high angst book, you'll appreciate it much more.

New girl in town, girl next door vibe. It reads very easily and teaches you more about Australians. I liked that. I wanted to know more about the bush and the stars at night. It seems amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars It made my day. Low on drama, sorta slow burn. So if you like it, that's your novel.

I don't know what to say. I mean, this was such a nice reading and I don't know what else to say in addition to that. One thing maybe, this is very low on drama sorta low burn and I had a smile on my face during the whole thing with many laughs. Coral is a hoot! Honestly, there are so many awesome characters, mature quirky people that use this thing called communication to solve any trouble life throws at them. Gaylord street rules.

I guess I had something to say after all. It made my day.
