WHY C. G. COOPER MATTERS

Fiction has the power to change lives.

Pay a visit to Cooper Country and you’ll understand why. With his unique voice and flair for creating characters you’d love to hang out with, C. G. Cooper imparts every one of his novels with messages that perfectly illuminate what Faulkner called, “the human heart in conflict with itself.” In them, characters confront hard truths about life, the necessity of war, the military industrial complex, and why and how good men and women die.

But there are messages within the messages.

There is the power of the individual to triumph over evil against overwhelming odds; the struggle of good people against their inner demons; there is brotherhood, family, the discovery of allies in unexpected places, struggles with faith; there is community; there is authenticity; Cooper’s heart is on every page, beating hard and fast through action and moments of tenderness alike.

Expect high-octane action, slow-burn thrills, and gut-wrenching drama. Expect the ultimate conflict of the human heart.

This is Cooper Country. Lives will change.

THE LOWDOWN

Drawing on his days as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps—a stint that came on the heels of a degree in foreign affairs from UVA—Cooper sifted his experience through his vivid imagination and created Corps Justice, the first novel in the beloved Corps Justice series. Thus, a band of characters was born that would go on to enthrall readers throughout 17 novels and counting. With more than 2 million book downloads and multiple appearances in the Amazon Top 100, C. G. Cooper remains one of the most successful USA TODAY and Amazon best-selling authors.

In 2020, he won the prestigious James Webb Award presented by the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation for his novel Chain of Command.

In addition to bouncing around the country in search of the perfect vacation (turns out, it is anywhere with his family), Cooper has called Nashville home ever since his final Marine duty station. When not enjoying the laid-back lifestyle of Music City, he’s doing his best to add more novels to the growing list at cg-cooper.com.

These books are addictive, page turners for certain! The characters are so very well crafted that they feel like friends ... (Or, enemies. Depending on the character). So, immerse yourself in the series and TAKE the adventures with these, your new, best friends. This is my first review of the series, (after 10 books), sorry, I've been too enthusiastic to start the next sumptuous "meal" in this buffet. Off to, "Feast," join me?

This book was a roller coaster ride filled with tragedy and heroism. I liked that the story was original but thought the Papal team could have been better. They didn't provide a ton of action or personality. There were some unpleasant surprises as well that added to the craziness of the story. Some of the Pope and President Zimmer's decisions were questionable/illogical also. I did think the story flowed well.

10 books in now and I'm still trying to figure out Cal Stokes. Every other character has charisma but Cal is just kind of there. He isn't tenacious like Daniel Briggs or funny like Gaucho or Trent. On top of that, his and Diane's relationship is bland. She isn't captivating. These things don't impact this book, but they do impact the Corps Justice series as a whole. Papal Justice is definitely a page turner though

Another great read by Cooper. Spoiler alert for those who don't want to know what's in the book.

This one starts with Father Pietro in the Zapata district of Acapulco, Mexico. The Father is a drunk and has many times gone back to the mission late at night. This night he gets back in time to see men enter the church.

Father Pietro had made it into the church and was watching as they killed several men and Father Josef. The majority of the men then left taking the children and younger men with them. The leader tells the two remaining to search the church.

Before Father Pietro was a priest he was Gabriel Fusconi from Italy. He was a member of the Italy's 9th parachute Assault Regiment anti terrorist squad. He's a man who knows weapons, how to kill and how to stay alive.

Father Pietro kills the two men left behind then gets out. He gets to a local bar, borrows a cell phone and makes a call to an old friend. An old friend named Luca an old friend who is also friends with the current Pope.

President Zimmer visits the Vatican and the Pope. A Pope who tells Zimmer about a problem in Acapulco, Mexico.

So begins another fine read by Cooper.

This one has Cal, Zimmer, Travis, the Pope, Diane, the TJG group, Father Pietro, Daniel Briggs, Gaucho and his Uncle, and Uncle who's an ex Green Beret and a drug lord, Willy Trent, a group of jihadists with a plan, jihadists led by a Spaniard named Felix, a drug lord named El Moreno who's assisting the jihadists, the black ops arm of the Vatican called Longinus, kidnapped children, an underground tunnel into the US, Catholic Church's, the US Marines, Osprey's, a captured Pope, the plan for that Pope, the brothers and TJG on the trail of the jihadists, gun battles, death, destruction and Cal Stokes dealing with a heartbreaking loss which he holds himself responsible for even as his TJG group pull off a rescue get the bad guys and save the damned day.

    Another five star read.

The tenth book in the corps justice series.

What I love about this series, besides the action and great writing, is that each book stands on its own.

I've read different ones in the series and while there is obvious references to past books and actions, I never felt like I was lost or missing vital information. So if you're new to the series and this is the first book you've looked at then have no fear, you can buy this one and enjoy it as much as I have and when your done and want more you'll know you can pick them up in any order and enjoy them just as much as if you'd started at the beginning.

This one starts out with a bang and barely pauses, with the tension and action ratcheting up as it goes.

Priests are targeted, children kidnapped, church members slaughtered, and just when you think it can't get worse the unthinkable happens.

The Pope enlists the aid of the President and his secret bulldogs, Cal Stokes and the Jefferson Group, to find out why the priests in Mexico are dying.

Going to Mexico, Cal and the group hook up with the Pope's own secret tip of the spear, the ultra-secret Brothers of St. Longinus. A group of ex-special operators from across the globe, tasked with protecting the church and the Pope. When no other option is available and force is necessary the Brothers are given the tasks straight from the Holy See himself.

Banding with a group of men looking like the just stepped out of the monastery, with long brown flowing robes was not really what Cal had in mind but as he find out much sooner than expected, you should never judge a book by its cover. As strange as that partnership seems it's nothing compared to the involvement of two rival drug cartel leaders, that only two special connections can bring them together.

Unfortunately, Cal and the group seem to be one step behind and when the unthinkable happens with the assistance of a couple of inside men the stakes are as high as it gets.

This is C.G Cooper at his best, I have read books one to four of the Corps Justice serious and its an amazing piece of writing. Not only does it have a great plot, it also pulls you alone at break neck speed. Having not one but two high profile men in the book adds even greater weight to this book.

I really don't want to go into detail about the story or the plot, as I do not want to spoil what to me has been an incredible, moving and enthralling entertaining read.

All I will say is if your a fan you will love it. If you're not a fan, then you will be after reading this book.

Wow. It's another action packed book in this series.

This time Cal and his buddies get called in to help the Pope and Mexico. Very well thought out story and very action paced. The ending - which I'll keep as a surprise - was very unexpected and a huge shock. You really do feel for everyone and you only wonder what's next for the group.
