- Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2020Intricate, a deeply woven plot. Loved seeing Shai and Lorne again as their pairbond grows. Danger around every corner. Loved seeing friends and enemies from the previous book return. This book was very intense at times though not as dark as the first. The bad guy is so dangerous in that he is smart, powerful and insane. Loved the book, enjoyed the HEA, but sad to say goodbye to these characters as this is the last book featuring them.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2021I always find Jaken's writing style a bit off-putting. (Awkward and repetitive.)
But this book grabs my attention - and keeps it. Could not stop reading until it was finished.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2019This was a good follow up for the first book. Also, Shai grows a lot in this book and gains confidence, which was good to see.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2019Not perfect, but engaging, with the right amount of pain, healing, relationships, characters, and world building. I would read more by this author, and did.

5.0 out of 5 stars really good second book
This is a great second book to this series/duology. It is less darker than book 1 and have a great storyline that kept me reading all night until I finished. This is the second time I’ve read these books and enjoyed them even more second time. Highly recommend JA Jakens work

4.0 out of 5 stars Resolution achieved
I really enjoyed the duo set. Finished them both in quick succession. Genuinely like the plot and world its set in. Only point is that you really need both books, not that there's a hard cliffhanger at end Book 1, but you only get full resolution at end of book 2. As for the graphic content, the violence real and threatened, is intense but it is not gratuitously so. It serves the plotline without it the overall arch loses its edge and impact.
