Review

"I liked how the author laid out each different option with the same headings (like what it involves, expected salary and action steps for each different job) so you can compare them all easily. And it's all written in a conversational, very easy to understand way. There are lots of ideas in here that have never occurred to me. I also like the extra tips and resources at the end to get started. All-in-all an easy, very helpful book to read for anyone interested in pursuing a job involving pets!" ~ Karen, Amazon Customer

"When I was a kid I wanted to be a Veterinarian, simply because I loved animals. I had no idea there were so many other jobs to choose from--where was this book when I needed it? There are so many great jobs out there in working with animals and this book does a fabulous job in describing them and breaking them down. I have also volunteered with pet rescues and fostered animals--all very rewarding--and explained in the book as well. I highly recommend this for anyone considering a career in the pet industry. If I decide on a career change, I know where to go." ~ Read M. Books, Amazon Customer

"One can tell by her writing style that Wendy Van de Poll has a deep love for both animals and people. This book reflects her extensive knowledge of the pet industry as well as her desire to help other animal-loving individuals find a rewarding job within it. Her book includes familiar pet jobs as well as many that are not as well known." ~ Celeste Allen, Amazon Customer

Combine love of animals with the need for cash...
I have a teen who wants to own eight dogs. I love how this book has given me ideas on how to support her in that dream because my pocket cannot pay for dance and dogs. I also want her to be able to afford the pets she desires when she's grown. The steps are practical and she covers dogsitting and beyond. Book is useful for teen through ninety. Thank you for this helpful guide. For me, I appreciated the practical advice for my own online presence. Excellent book.

One can tell by her writing style that Wendy Van de Poll has a deep love for both animals and people. This book reflects her extensive knowledge of the pet industry as well as her desire to help other animal-loving individuals find a rewarding job within it. Her book includes familiar pet jobs as well as many that are not as well known. Van de Poll gives honest information on the rewards and challenges of each job, the training necessary, a ballpark income, questions to ask oneself about each and some beginning Action Steps if a particular job appeals to the reader. Pet Jobs 101 is organized into five sections, a glossary and bonus resources at the end. The first section describes eight different online pet jobs. The second section presents fourteen jobs where one works face-to-face with animals. The third section includes five types of volunteer jobs. Section four gives clear, practical directions on how to jumpstart a new pet business. Section five gives valuable tips on providing great Customer Service, a crucial part of any pet job. This section includes how to handle difficult people, difficult animals and how to keep clients coming back! I feel this book is a valuable resource for adults looking for a job that celebrates the human-animal bond but would also be beneficial to informing school guidance counsellors of the familiar and not-so-familiar jobs available in the pet industry.

Another great book in the “Pet” series by this author. This was an interesting read for me. I too am an animal lover and enjoyed reading about all the different positions possible. There were jobs in here I had not thought of. I appreciate the supportive treatment of some of the less mainstream professions such as Animal Energy Practitioner and Animal Communicator. I found the section on Prison Dog Handler a surprise and I doubt I would have thought of this one! All in all, a great resource with lots of practical tips and advice. Would be a great gift for any one starting out who wants an overview of what types of jobs might be ‘out there’ working with animals.

This book was amazing! Not only does the author have a way with words which explains the most complicated terms in an easily understandable manner, but she has a wealth of expertise that is clearly carried over into the sections of this book. Her enthusiasm is also catchy. I learned a lot about jobs in the pet industry and as the author has cut through all the red tape and provided a wealth of resources, it makes these dreams possible. This book is a valuable resource for anyone looking at starting a job in the industry.

Another worthy addition to the pet series by this author. You can find out how to start from the simplest to the most highly qualified vocations, with action points, as well as helpful links to take you further in your pet industry jobs. Literally from a pet blogger, or selling MLM to veterinarian or wild-life rehabilitator, I never realized the scope of jobs that can service the pet industry. An excellent book if you are looking for recession proof job for yourself, or your young 'uns.

As a current Pet Sitter and Dog Walker I found this book to a valuable resource and guide to ideas and suggestions of additional ways in which I could generate income in different ways related to Pets. The book is well written, well organized and very succinct in the manner in which information was provided. Wendy does an excellent job of laying out the details and considerations of each of the different areas of pet related jobs that are available in terms of the pro's and con's, the amount of time involved, the level of income to expect, the type of training required. She provides action steps to take in each area of consideration and then provides a wrap up to each section to help the reader digest all of the information that was presented.

Once you've found an area of interest that sparks your enthusiasm for taking on a new or expanding an existing Pet job she provides the next steps to get your business up and running.

If you're seeking some exciting ways to have a business that's dedicated to the care and wellbeing of animals then this is definitely a must read.

Another little gem from this very prolific author! Wendy Van de Poll gives so much detailed information about pet-related jobs that I never even knew existed. Anything 'animal' is there, from selling pet products, to opening boarding kennels to training to be a vet or an animal communicator. She gives detailed step-by-step information in each case, and also offers loads of helpful downloads. A real goldmine for anyone looking to start a new venture with animals.
