Piece by Piece (Rumor Has It Series Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 80 ratings

Everything can change in an instant.

They say you don’t know what you have until it’s gone, but the truth is, sometimes you know exactly what you have. And when it’s gone, you start to fade away, too.

Taylor Hopkins knows this firsthand. For the past couple of years, he’s focused on only three things: college, working out, and girls. School to focus on the future and forget the past. Exercising to zone out and clear his mind. And girls for all of the above. Then Sasha falls into his life …

Sasha Williams loves to cook. Skipping her second year of college to work under a head chef and owner of a restaurant was an opportunity she couldn’t pass up. After yet another breakup with a guy still hung up on his ex, she decides a night out is the perfect thing to wash away recent memories, and make sure her focus is on cooking. Of course, it doesn’t help that meeting Taylor, and a subsequent deal between them, turns into something she never thought she’d face.

While trying to break down walls, Taylor and Sasha work to come to terms with a future between them. But can you build a future on a foundation that continues to crumble away?

Piece by Piece is the fifth book in the Rumor Has It series and can be read as a stand-alone.

I loved this book. I'm so glad Logan and Sasha got their hea. I felt so bad for Logan so many times throughout this book from all the things he's been through. He is such a sweet and funny guy at heart. I felt for Sasha always being like a backup girl to go to before couples end up back together. I loved their chemistry and how she did so well with taking everything he told her and how she was ok with just whatever he could give her that it was enough. Not everyone would be that understanding. I definitely recommend this book to readers. Be prepared to laugh and cry.

This is a great read. I really like how the story is told by Taylor and Sashas point of view. Taylor has some deep reasons why he doesn't want a relationship and so does Sasha. Will something in there hearts change that fact. The Author has really brought out the personalities and the emotions out in them, plus the characters around them. Its a great read that I highly recommend.

I was so interested in what happened to Taylor. And how he was going to turn his life into something he wanted. And man, what he went through.... was heart wrenching. I can't even fathom. And it does, to some extent, explain his behavior. It was heart warming to see him get some healing.

Sasha was sweet, but a wee bit immature. But, she was just as confused as Taylor. Her sidekicks were hella obnoxious though. I kept wanting to tell them to butt out.

I was kind of hoping for a different ending... but it was still sweet.

I love authors who build a world of characters and RH Tucker does just that with his Rumor Has It Series.

I've read and loved all the books in the series and Piece by Piece is my new favorite. It's well written with characters who are real and deal with real situations. Tucker does a great job of telling both the female and male perspectives throughout the story. Although Emma and Carter will always be my favorite Rumor Has It characters, Sasha and Taylor are a close second.

I actually LOVED this book. Some of the work from this author has been mediocre, but this story was YES! She did such a good job balancing their struggles with their triumphs. Definitely my favorite of this series.

    Spoilers —

The two MCs are twenty and in college. They hook up and are attracted to each other. They have problems being a couple because the H has emotional baggage. He is still very much in love with his dead girlfriend. He and the gf had been together for a long time since their parents were good friends. She died at 16 years old in a car accident with him as the driver. She was it for him. He feels he would have to let go of his gf if he were to pursue something with the h.

No likes : I dislike stories where the h has to compete or come in second after a deceased loved one. I felt that this was one of those stories. This story had a lot of discussions and memories of the gf. The H just couldn’t let go. He called the h by the girlfriend’s name after they had sex. I felt the h should have moved on with another guy. She already went through a number of exes who were still hung up on their ex girlfriends.

I'm having a hard time putting my thoughts into words that will do the book justice.

In the beginning, I was close to giving up on the story several times, because, frankly, I didn't like the two main characters very much.
While Sasha simply felt a bit bland to me at first (she did grow on me after a while, though), I flat out disliked Taylor for a good portion of the book.
And yes, I understand where he's coming from, and how a heartbreak like he lived through can royally mess up a person's life, but still... The way he treated his friends, pretty much all the people who loved him and stood by him despite all his douchebaggery? That made it really difficult for me to feel any kind of connection or even sympathy.

Still, the story is well written, it comes to a satisfying resolution, and I *did* like the supporting cast of characters.

I really wasn’t expecting this story. It was a journey of young love, tragic loss, and new love. It really portrayed grief well and how it is processed differently.
It was interesting to see that coincidence with a new blossoming romance.
I really enjoyed it. I think it was one of my favourites by the author.
