Loving The Bad Boy: An Enemies to Lovers Fake Boyfriend Romance (Rags to Riches Book 2) Kindle Edition

3.9 out of 5 stars 31 ratings

A standalone, coming-of-age romance featuring a morally grey hero, a principled young woman, and a series of events that bind them irrevocably together.

Millie

My father - the Earl of Amhearst - intends to marry me off to a man I can neither love nor tolerate. He invites potential suitors to the Marriage Games, a series of tasks to complete before one is declared the winner.
The prize? Me.
Trapped by circumstances, my only way out of this farce sees me walking into tattoo parlours and sex clubs, looking for a suitably tattooed man that my prejudiced father will hate on sight.
Except, while the man I find will undoubtedly rile my father’s blood, forcing him to rethink his humiliating plans, the heavily inked, handsome bad boy I set my sights on makes my blood hot for entirely different reasons.
He’s all I want in the entire world. Too bad he's only my fake boyfriend.

Mal

Being propositioned by a gorgeous young woman wearing the shortest dress known to mankind was the last thing I expected tonight.
But whatever the terms, I’m game.
Enrage her up-tight father?
Done. Be her pretend lover? Try and stop me. Wear a tux and attend a lavish party for the country’s elite? I’m there.
A few days after I agree to her plea for help I find out who she really is - Lady Amelia Harrington-Scott, heiress to the indecently wealthy seat of Amhearst.
But Millie doesn't know that I met her father - a long time ago. That he tainted the only good thing I ever had in my life. That he embodies everything I hate about the peerage.
He’s my enemy, which makes her my enemy, too.
But I didn't know our story would be so much more than revenge, Millie right at the heart of it.
And I am blown away.

This is the second book in the Rags to Riches series. Although this is a standalone book, I strongly recommend that you read
Marrying the Heiress first to avoid any spoilers and get maximum reader enjoyment. The characters featured in MTH will feature again here, their storyline extended within Loving the Bad Boy.

Well written, filled with hot passionate chemistry and page turning twists secrets and angst. The storytelling is superb. I was hooked right from the start and loved the twists and heart stopping turns that had me giddy and excited one moment and with a flick of a page my heart was sent pummeling feeling the pain losing all hope for poor Millie not having complete control of her life. Mal and Millie are an unlikely couple that set the pages on fire and kept me reading long into the night.

It is the second part of a series with standalone stories, but overlapping characters. Like the first book, it's lighthearted and serious, steamy and sweet, but unlike the first book I found it less captivating.
I loved the beginning, the way Milly tries to find a suitable fake boyfriend, the way Mal introduces himself to the family. Unfortunately, after that I find it bogged down in all kinds of unbegotten feelings, traumatic experiences, prejudices. Mal and Milly continue to attract and repel, hurt and make amends. The circumstances that force Milly to do what her family wants, the trip to Seoul, I don't find it all very believable described. Mal is a likeable character, which creates the necessary fuss and steamy scenes. Milly comes out a little less likeable. All in all it's a story with potential, original premise, well written, but still not my idea of an enjoyable read.. An enjoyable interrelated story with likable characters honestly but their relationship does show that it can take awhile to get your HEA in this case. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

mal ‘digby’ Marsten best mate of Daw was my favourite side character in the first book, if he was a real person he would be my perfect type. Amelia/Milly starts off seemingly like a spoilt little rich girl , titled and entitled but as you get to know her she is vulnerable, mentally abused and dismissed by her family.
What starts as a favour slowly becomes so much more as this couple gradually peel of the layers to reveal all cuts on their souls

4.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful tale of perceptions, expectations and acceptance

    POV: First person / Dual
    Genre: Enemies-to-Friends-to-Lovers / Fake Relationship

Millie is essentially controlled by her father, and as the heir to his peerage and family estate she allows him the grace to do so, however hosting ‘The Marriage Games’ to dictate who she marries is a step too far. Millie needs a boyfriend… and a bad boy boyfriend at that to shock her father.

As soon as she sees Mal at an exclusive sex club, she knows that he’s who she needs. With his beard, tattoos and motorcycle, he’s the epitome of bad boy, however Mal isn’t at all who he appears to be at first…

Mal and Millie were an unlikely couple, but they worked well together, yes, they continuously misunderstood each other and butted heads, but that added layers to their relationship, and watching them finally understand each other and lay all their cards out on the table was fantastic.

The main plot line, of the fake relationship, was written in a unique way that kept me captivated, but I was equally invested in the side plots of Mal’s business and his history, as well as the underlying reasons for ‘The Marriage Games’ and Millie’s past secrets.

𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐝 𝐁𝐨𝐲 was beautifully written, it was a tale of perceptions, expectations and acceptance. It was filled with twists, turns, secrets, chemistry, angst and it was a beautiful story of opposites attracting.

Congratulations on your new release Autumn, I can’t wait to read your next book now!
