- Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseFirst off, damn. This book was immersive as all hell. And there were so many callbacks to previous characters in the books. The preacher dude in stores looking for fuel cells (if you know, you know) but when they started mentioning scavenging in Australia, I knew the crap was gonna hit the fan. Another amazing book, and even though I know characters survive go on to the main series, it’s still harrowing as hell to read what they went through to survive. Can’t wait for the next one!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis series never slows down and the action is fast paced and life altering. Yaz continues to struggle to belong to his special ops group. He doesn't realize his value and his ideas and bravery are present throughout the book. This is a great series and I highly recommend it. Looking forward to the next book to see what happened when enemies forces meet in the apocalypse. Will they continue the age old fight or join together to defeat the real enemies the creatures.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseFinally we are starting wain focus on Yaz’s mental struggle. It’s still there and still way to much a part of the story but at least other things took some focus off his mental drama. I find it hard to believe some of the struggles but then this would be far outside the normal box of a carrier group. It seems to be a constant “what now” struggle for all those involved. Will be reading the next book on the series as they left us on the edge at the end of this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseOnce again Fuchs delivers a book that keeps us engaged with a great storyline. Fick has his hands full taking over the team and Drake needs to keep them all alive. Will they succeed? Gotta grab the next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseFuchs really brings his characters to life by placing them in horrible decision making situations. The pressure of command, the death of friends, the need to be accepted by the team who you depend on to survive are interwoven in a great story you don't want to out down. When you finish you find yourself looking for book 5!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWhat a ride. Mr. Fuchs is one of the best military thriller writers around and with the added insanity of the ZA, this whole series is a MUST READ. Even if you might be skeptical about a series in a ZA setting, I will gladly tell you you'd be crazy not to read it.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI've read every book in this series. It's simply an amazing read! MSF crafts a story like no other, dramatic, traumatic, picking you up then dropping you in free fall. How these Raiders keep getting out of these terrible situations is just incredible. Don't just read this book... read the whole series. You'll want more. They're addictive!!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe good: the editing has gotten much better. The plot and story are always moving and often a surprise. I like the jumps in time as it relieves the tedium of small nonsense. Always great descriptions of battle field conditions and equipment. I enjoy the admiration the Marines have for one another and it's mentioned often.
The less good: the metaphors are getting under my skin. Too many and too often despite variations. I think a quick reference check in naval ratings would've been helpful. Why are there seebees on a carrier? Or any ship for that matter. The fight in the pier mentions fire control technicians- no. Those are are not damage control ratings. Certainly not as a primary duty as the narrative implies. They're submarine ratings for goodness sake.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another set of grand death defying adventures
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWhat i like about this series is the character development of the main protagonist (the newbie SARC corpsman) and the marine veterans.
What I don't like are certain plot elements. The unrealistic voyages back and froth across the oceans. The country's remaining carrier group would most likely remain close the the States. To organize the hundreds of stranded merchant vessels filled with cargo, and the thousands of Americans that had fled on boats.
In addition, the most logical place to scavenge would be the carrier base in San Diego (Naval Base Coronado). Everything they need would be there; including all types of aircrafts and vessels.
There was a really silly twist in Darwin where surviving marines re-entered their base to get radio equipment. So much easier to fire a signal flare to get the attention of the rescuers. Even a signal fire would be effective.

5.0 out of 5 stars Miltiary Zombie Book Series
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe series just gets better, after reading Arisen Series (twice) its great to see all of the little back stories and side stories coming together. The Arisen Universe is really begining to get fleshed out now. All I need now is the story of how the Royal Marines yomped across Europe to get back to Fortress Europe!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good addition to the Arisen series
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe original Arisen series was so good I read the whole lot twice through. Whilst Raiders is good, and highly recommended, for me it doesn't quite have the edge that Arisen had. That said its very good and I love all the military descriptions and characters. Can't wait for the next in the series. Hurry up Michael !
