The Groom: A Friends to Lover Muslim Romance (Ramadan Nights Book 1) Kindle Edition
♥They're not kids anymore.♥
Just when he starts to get his act together, Mansur wakes to an empty bed and a crying baby. His wife leaves him with their infant on the day he starts a new job. Uneasy and alone, he looks across the street to Faiza for help. As he relies on their long friendship, desires for the beautiful hijabi firefighter reawaken within him.
Faiza can't deny Mansur, even though she should. Her heart broke when he married another woman. She got herself together and moved on. Now, he is back in their childhood neighborhood and her life. She knows they're just friends, but she can't help longing for more.
Family and culture kept them apart when young, but Mansur won’t allow interference from anyone or anything. He is determined to make Faiza more than just a friend.
The Groom is a boy-next-door romance novella full of passion, a little steam, and a ★Muslim alpha★ who proves that he is no longer a little boy.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI enjoyed reading the story of Mansur and Fazia. After reading the Ex-wife I was curious as to how these two people met. I recommend this book, but first read The Ex-wife before you read this one. Trust me you won't be disappointed. A book featuring romance between a Muslim man and Muslim women is needed for our society today in order to get a better upstanding of Al Islam Ramadan Nights filled the prescription! Lyndell Williams, Jazaka Allah Khairan for you wonderful books!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseSo, to start I love the idea of Ramadan nights--especially during Ramadan. To keep with the pros, I like the story, the protagonists, how Faiza was a firefighter, that Mansour's ex-wife wasn't the issue and culture was the slight and original problem, the end with Zaynab, and a few of the Islamic terms. These are the pros and my likes for the story and why I felt it deserved a four star.
Now, for the cons that caused me to rate it at four and not five stars. Firstly, I was disturbed by the broken Islamic rules of how Faiza and Mansour interacted. There was no chaperone mentioned until they got engaged, they were alone plenty of times, and all this was taken in stride. Even the Imam left to give them time alone... Yeah, no! Second, not once did a mention of her father as her wali (protector) come into play. I understand as a previously married Muslimah she has a few liberties an unmarried Muslimah doesn't have, but her wali should have been there virtually, physically, or conference-wise while she sat with the Imam and Jamal. I simply found that another Islamic missed education to those who wouldn't know. Third, I had no clue what Faiza's ethnicity was. That kind of bugged me because culture played a big part to initially separating them as children. Fourth and last, there were a few mistakes in the editing, which could have been corrected easily.
Aside from that, the story was good and Lyndell is still one of the Muslimah authors I go to.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseMansur’s wife leaves him and his son. Mansur turns to the woman (Faiza) across the street to help him out. As fate would have it, their bond grows stronger. What happens next. You will have to read it.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseMansur, a history teacher, and Faiza, a firefighter, grew up as childhood friends and eventually developed feelings for each other. However, disapproving and prejudice family members got in the way of their happily-ever-after. This time Mansur and Faiza are fully grown and they most definitely aren’t falling for the okeydoke.
Faiza was absolutely a gem to experience as a character and I absolutely loved her. Because Hijabi firefighter? Yess ma’am!
Mansur is not my favorite character (his father kinda takes the cake) but he’s definitely well rounded. Admittedly he has his flaws and strengths as all humans but I tell you I would have yelled at him quite a few times, if only he could hear me through my kindle 😒. His redeeming quality is that he’s adorable in how much he absolutely loves Faiza. I really appreciated seeing his growth throughout his journey. And let’s be honest, Beni’s cute self saved Mansur many times 🥺. Beni is the real star of the show.
Mansur and Faiza’s story is a classic friends-to -lovers wrapped up in a cute bite sized Ramadan bow! I purposely saved it to read for Ramadan and it delivered perfectly for timely romance-reading enjoyment.
Not only will I be looking out for Lyndell Williams’ next story, now I’m definitely curious about the rest of the books in the Ramadan Nights series!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis was a beautifully told story. Shining clear was the love of Allah and the love he created between Faiza and Man. I loved the dynamic of friends becoming or coming into a live matured. Well done!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseShe was crushed when he got married, she wasn’t culturally the right girl... and now she is finally kind of moving on , here he is inserting himself back in her life. Find out what happened! 😉
- Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseRacist Arab parent(s) block muslim son from marrying great muslim woman because they disapprove of her dark skin...
...though this premise is commonplace IRL, and this "problem" (colorism) an ... almost... insurmountable one in the Muslim world, the author gave me hope that Mansur and Faiza will go the distance.
Cute story!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 29, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseMind blowing. I love reading of different cultures and how religion plays a role in the characters lives. This book is wonderful, it’s emotional, heartwarming and funny at times. Most of all I adore how much Mansur and Faiza knows each other inside and out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Will be looking for more
Format: PaperbackVerified Purchase3.75 Stars My first read by this author and I enjoyed it a lot. This might be my first book with both characters are practicing Muslims and there's a lot of food, practices, and culture in this that was beautiful to read about and gives me a lot to investigate for myself. I was a little bit shook by how abrupt it ended and the timing seemed a little stilted but...that aside I'd recommend this.
