Alec: A Reed Security Romance Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 851 ratings

Alec is book 17 in the Reed Security series and it is recommended that they are read in order.
Alec

I've been in love with the same woman for years. But she's also my teammate, and that means I can't have her. Florrie is a strong-willed woman, and she won't put up with a man like me. I'm possessive, and if we take this next step, I won't back off. The need to protect her is strong, but the need to have her is greater. But after three years of chasing her and trying to make this work, I'm just not sure that it will. I can't do all the work in this relationship. I need a woman that wants to be my partner. Sometimes when you love someone, you have to let her go.

Florrie
It just hit me one day how attracted I was to Alec. And then he took a bullet for me. It changed everything. Now, I see him as more than a teammate. I see him as a lover. But how can we possibly make this work? Especially when we go out on jobs and he tries to protect me. I don't need protection. I've always taken care of myself. Just because we're in a relationship doesn't mean that he suddenly gets to dictate my life. I want him, but I just don't see how we can be together and work on the same team. I will not be controlled.

First let me say that for about 90% of this book I loved to hate on Florrie. But at moments I also kinda got her too. Eesh! I was all over the board on this one. I really loved the evolution that Florrie went through. While there were MANY times I wanted to smack her upside the head, I saw how she was finding her way (albeit slower than I wanted her to, hence the wanting to smack her). She needed to go through things and figure out her way and see things for herself. Alec was SO hot. I wanted him on the spot. He has all the characteristics of the perfect book boyfriend. He is hot, alpha, possessive, and loves hard! But he also has his flaws. His protective nature was hot but for someone like Florrie I can see how that can feel stifling. Like he wasnt trusting of her to do her job when she'd never had issues taking care of herself ever before. All in all I can see why they had issues. And I loved the evolution of their relationship to relationship to finally figuring out how to appreciate each other for who and what they are and not to make assumptions or assertions of the other first. And the spa day had me in stitches. And so as not to spoil I will just say Knight surprised me completely with what he did. I literally spit out my water in that scene. The drama and heartache was very well tempered by the levity of certain scenes. Again, I am in awe of how these books always seem to bring me deeper into the Reed Security series. I am in so deep there is no returning from this rabbit hole! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Amazing characters. The comedy is great. I actually laughed out loud even by myself. This was a much lighter story than some of the other books... which I needed to keep reading. Sad parts...yes. but not near as heavy as the previous books. What a great author!!!

As always I love the Reed Security guys, they are strong, funny, courageous and hot! The story line is mainly about Alex and Florrie but we get a lot of the rest of the teams to keep us updated about them too. I don't want to give anything away but Florrie is someone you might want to smack at times. At least that is the way I felt about her. Alec i was rooting for in this one. As always there was a lot of fun and some really hilarious happening. I am looking forward to the rest of this series.

Good thing this is not a picture book because my imagination would not compete

Alec has wanted Florrie for so long but he was in a relationship with someone else. When he was about to end his relationship with the women he was seeing he ended up getting shot. This just caused a great deal of issues.
Florrie wanted Alec but he was in a relationship and she was not the type of person to get in the way. She would just have to find a way to stop looking at him.
What happens between Alec and Florrie were the able to finally be with each other? Could Florrie open up heart to actually love someone or was she destin to be a selfish bitch?
So many things happen in this book and it takes you back from the time things started between Alec and Florrie so you get the whole picture as to what their relationship was like from the beginning.

Florrie and Alex are perfect for each other except for the fact that Florrie doesn't think she loves Alex because she doesn't know what love feels like. They were together in secret for several years and never acted like a couple. Alex was their team leader and was overly protective of Florrie. Which led to issues between them. Florida lied to Alex about her medical problems and they just went off the rails. When she learns how to show her feelings it could be to late. Love the issues these books bring up. Thank you for the adventure.

So, I was definitely team Alec on this one. He was saying and doing the right things but Florrie just strung him along for 3 years! What. The. Heck?! That's a long time to string someone along knowing they are in love with you but you can't commit.

The book wasn't too bad overall, but there were spots that I skimmed because they weren't progressing the story. Not as bad as the prior book though, so there is that!

Alec was quite likeable and Florrie had her moments. To throw in a trigger warning of endometriosis followed by a miscarriage due to an ectopic pregnancy would be good too. She didn't really grieve from that at all.

I haven't spoken about typos much (if at all), but the books all have plenty of typos. I thought by this far in the series they would be better, but not so much. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I found it very strange that they would bring a client to their panic world. To have her stay there and see what is available and underground for Reed security seemed like a huge security risk. And then to find out she was going to get Alec assassinated, just reiterated the stupidity of that move. I mean, I get it... You had to have Florrie see him with another girl, but still. That was way out of line for what I expected of Cap.

Alec and Florrie are on the team with Craig. And I'm quite disappointed they didn't integrate them going out and getting Craig and storm and bringing them back after Cap and the others thought Craig was a traitor. The fact that they left that out completely and the timeline didn't even add up for it to have happened, was odd. They also didn't once mention Chance being kidnapped for a year, though chance was briefly in the book. Seemed like a major thing to come up in context, but never did. So between the typos and the inconsistencies.in the timelines, it seems odd and I didn't care for it.

Alec and Florrie. The two people who are on the same team they both love eachother but only one will admit it. Florrie is not a favorite character.. This story I see a different side. I understand her character better and I can relate to some of her problems. Alec is all alpha, pound on chest me man you woman. I found it hilarious that Florrie is faster than Alec and took him down when he tried to scare her. It took lots of drama, a spa day and a crazy counselor to bring Florrie around to understanding she loves Alec. Good story!! Happy Reading 📚

It's about time these two were officially together.
Sending the guys on a spa day was comic genius.
The way you wrote these characters is fantastic. A truly brilliant series.

Another great addition to the series. Alec and Florries's love story lots of chemistry and lack of trust. Their secret relationship started one way and grew to Alec totally falling in love but not reciprocated. Lots of twists and turns, emotions love hate trust pain selfishness joy laughter years Etc.

I felt Alex's pain. When he described what love meant to him it was wow my heart just popped it was so beautiful. He had so much love to give it broke his heart.

Reed Team are so connected they have such a strong bound. Family first, always having your back. Team is rebuilding team back in action. Guys are still hilarious.

Great having secondary characters. This is one series that really makes me laugh a lot though out the story. Giulia makes it all come together.
Thank you for sharing your talent. Look forward to Storm.

Too drawn out. Not my cup of tea at all. The book itself was fine & the characters were loveable as usual.
