Romance Across the Spectrum.

I’m often awkwardly silent or, if the topic interests me, a chronic rambler. In other words, I can discuss writing forever and ever. Fiction, in particular. The love story—while a huge draw and constantly present—is secondary for me, because there’s so much more to writing romance fiction than just making two (or more) people fall in love and have hot sex.

There’s a world to build, characters to develop, interests to create, and a topic or two to research thoroughly.

Every book is a challenge for me, an opportunity to learn something new, and a puzzle to piece together. I want my characters to come to life, and the only way I know to do that is to give them substance—passions, history, goals, quirks, and strong opinions—and to let them evolve.

I want my men and women to be relatable. That means allowing room for everyday problems and, for lack of a better word, flaws. My characters will never be perfect.

Wait…this was supposed to be about me, not my writing.

I'm a writey person who loves to write. Always wanderlusting, twitterpating, kinking, cooking, baking, and geeking. There’s time for hockey and family, too. But mostly, I just love to write.

It was a very important part of the story but the developing feelings between the main characters was still the focus. I fell for these two as a couple. Also the supporting characters were great.     I want to preface this by saying I went into this book totally blind. I was looking for a book with some neurospiciness and this was recommended in a group I'm in. Realizing I had already downloaded it at some point prior I immediately started reading.     This is supposed to be a romance, about an autistic guy and an escort falling in love. I think I’ll be the “Debbie Downer” here and say it reads more like an escort found an opportunity to get out of poverty and grabbed it with everything he got. I feel like every time Nick is talking to Gideon, he is just telling him what he wants to hear. Whilst Gideon was spending two month of exploring his sexuality, Nick was using that 2 month to play a long game in convincing the billionaire to date him for real. Although, during the epilogue, he sounded genuinely in love with his little family. Don’t get me wrong, I feel like Gideon is way happier with Nicky in his life, than he would have been with anyone else. So I guess it’s a win win situation.

    Another issue I had with the story, was a kink scene that came out of no where. It didn’t fit either characters at all, and it left me quite baffled. Apart from that, I enjoyed the story very much. The characters were fun and the sexy times were scotching hot.

    This had a lot of promise and I really enjoyed most of the book. It seemed like the author just wanted to be done with it, though, because it kept jumping forward in time weeks or months. Then there were like six epilogues. The book would have been better if all those time jumps were just written down and included in the story. One of the jumps is the first time they have sex. Like, what? Why would you not include that in the book? Especially when Gideon has never been with a man before. He must have a GREAT imagination since he sure seemed very experienced.

    The kink was unexpected but pretty hot. I enjoyed Nicky’s family, but was disappointed we didn’t get to see any of Gideon’s family or really see much of his world at all. For some reason the author didn’t find it important, but this whole thing starts with Gideon hiring a sex worker, so it would have been good to have more insight as to why. But we did t get that. Flesh this book out more and it’s easily 4 stars.

    This is a single POV story told by Nicky. At points I would have really loved to get Gideon’s POV. However, I still enjoyed seeing them open up to each other and seeing Gideon have someone to rely on!

    This is another one where it took me a long time to figure out how a HEA was even possible for them. I’m so happy that it ended up working out for them and I loved seeing how they made their relationship work. I definitely recommend this story!
