Hearts and Halos: M/M Paranormal Fantasy Monster Romance (Monsters in my Bed Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 660 ratings

Forgive me, Father, for I’m about to sin…

My life is a country song. I lost my abuela, my wife, my house, and my religion. After helping my two best friends find love, I’m broke, out of shape, and lonelier than ever.

Until I find an injured winged monster in the church basement I’m remodeling. He’s the most beautiful creature I’ve ever seen. Hurt and alone, he needs my help to find his missing halo. He also seems to think I’m destined to be his mate.

I don’t have the heart to tell him I’m straight…Well, straight-
ish.

But his himbo charm is growing on me and I don’t know how to feel when he showers me with praise for every little thing. Being attracted to a man is new enough, but to a monster that looks like an angel? Seminary school never could’ve prepared me for this.

Hearts and Halos is the third book in the Monsters in my Bed series, a series of standalone MM monster romances featuring cinnamon roll monsters and the men who love them. This is a bi-awakening body positive romance between a chubby former priest and a semi-Biblically accurate angel who adores him. Please see the interior or the author’s website for content warnings.

This author was actually recommended to me through Tik Tok... so to the author, your engagement with me really helped sell me on getting this book.

I feel like there aren't a lot of body positivity in stories for chubby guys and it isn't fetishized (and there's nothing wrong with that either cuz I go for that as well).

But the protagonist of this story really felt genuine. I felt for his plight in coming to terms with his sexuality, but also coming to terms with the fact that he is not only seen as desirable but also as loveable.

Possible negatives for others are the themes of religion and abuse which the author talks about in the beginning so anyone who reads this knows about it (which is another way I proudly rep this author).

But the sense of found family, made community, humor and acceptance are all very prevalent in this book.

Note: THIS BOOK IS ALSO HELLA SPICY!!! Like 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 outta 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 for me. Phew!!!!

For me this book checked a lot of good marks for me. Humor, touching, compassion, sex and over all a great HEA.

Another great addition to the series. It wasn't my favorite of the series. However, I loved all the affirmations and love from Cupid. Charlie deserved to find someone that loved the whole of him. He's beautiful inside and out. I wish we could've seen Cupid's home in this book instead of having to wait for a novella or bonus scene. Overall, it kept my interest and I loved these two together.

I think this is my favorite so far. I loved Charlie's character arc of self-discovery and worth. It was super well done. His queer awakening was handled well and not in a cringy, over s*xualized way. Cupid is such a himbo; it was adorable. I'm looking forward to reading more.

These two are amazing and I love their chemistry. Cupid is a lovable and sexy himbo that gives praise to his mate every chance he gets. Charlie has a lot of self image issues but learns to love himself, curves and all. There are lots of funny and sweet moments in this book. Definitely worth the read!

Loved the story, enjoyed the idea of the Dominion. Biggest bit-pick is of the depiction of divorce law in Michigan. Totally not how it works; especially since there were no children involved and they were married ten years. Ten is sort of a magic number in divorces. Everything would have been split down the middle. Even if that witch kept the house, she would have had to pay him the fair market value for half the house in order to keep it, else it would have been sold. Even if he initially would have refused, the judge would have ordered a fair division of assets, considering it would have rendered him homeless and jobless. It simply would not have happened that way. That isn’t how divorce law works.
Second issue is that the last 5-8% of the book is completely unedited. Very hard to read, considering how much communication is telepathic. The telepathic conversation prior to this point had been italicized, and when it stops there are no quotations to indicate dialogue so it reads as walls of nonsensical text with intermittent bouts of dialogue involving Hot Dog and Father Lott.

There are so many adorable things about this book. Body positivity, dealing with trauma/abuse, and of course, the monster smut. The Golden retriever/himbo energy is so fun. Seeing the earlier characters come back for battle....also a plus. I adore this series, and if you're a weird little queer geek you prob will too.

Another highly enjoyable addition to this fantastical series. Charlie was such a sweet cinnamon roll, and Cupid was so ready to gobble him up. I'm really hoping that Hotdog gets his own monster next, maybe a certain dragon wrangler.

4.0 out of 5 stars lecture sympathique
Reviewed in France on April 16, 2023

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant read

A fantastic addition to the series! Chappy was so incredibly sweet but his ex was a freaking nightmare. Her abusive behaviour harmed Chappy emotionally, making him feel unworthy. I just wanted to hug him because if anyone deserved TLC it was Chappy.

Cupid was a sight for sore eyes - I’d definitely be ogling all he had to offer lol. He was sweet and he went above and beyond to lift Chappy’s self confidence.

I’ve enjoyed all the books so far but I think this one is definitely my favourite.

This... Book hit me in a whole different way. Charlie's story was amazingly built and I'm so so happy he got to start a whole new life. The way I was able to relate to him in some ways just hit different. Also, I freaking LOVED that the author included a lot of D&D fun into the story. It made my nerdy heart very happy.
